BIOGRAPHY:

Ajali was the first-born of King Tamu and Queen Ghasia, followed in a separate litter by her younger brother, Jua. She mostly grew up with the strict mentoring of her mother, who valued the traditional roles associated with being a lioness and future queen. She often found solace in the company of her father, whom she loved dearly.

It was her mother that arranged Ajali's diplomatic marriage to Prince Bahari, despite Tamu's objection. He was an avid believer in marrying for love and passion, not for diplomacy and convenience. Despite Bahari's sour demeanour, Ajali could make him smile, and the two did grow fond of each other in time. By the time of the birth of their first son, Ajali considered herself to be in love with Bahari, despite his flaws. This only made it so much harder for her as he grew into the hateful, loathsome lion who she no longer recognised to be her mate. By the time both of their sons were adults, Bahari no longer slept beside her, eventually ignoring his queen altogether.

Despite acknowledging how turbulent her mate had become, she refused to listen and engage with the whispers of those who wished to overthrow him. Until the day that her mate would be overthrown, he was still her king. Thus, she had to act as such - even if she wished otherwise.

She has remained resilient and noble, despite the hardships throughout her life. She is loved and respected by all who meet her, and is considered as the matriarch of the pride. She has a particularly strong relationship with her protégé Shani, one of the very few people she turns to for counsel.

Despite how much she disliked the lion that Bahari had become, she still found herself mourning him the day he was ran out the pride by her son, Kito.

• She once spoke of a dashing foreign dignitary from a neighbouring pride who she met before she got married, whom she secretly fancied and wished to elope with. By all accounts, she sounded like a giddy little cub when describing his dashing mane and charming smile.
