Description
The Keziltian Kingdom consists of many islands scattered across the sea. Among them, was the Blackpond island, located far to the east from the main Keziltian archipelago. It used to be an important source of whale fat and meat, as well as crab meat, yet in the recent years the population of whales diminished and left that territory. The fishermen and crabbers of the island could only catch enough food to sustain the island's population of roughly 500 people, but without the whales they had nothing to offer to the rest of the country. Normally, people would leave the useless island, but because of its remoteness and the dangerous currents, ships sailing from the main archipelago and back were rare. The island existed virtually on its own for about two years, until far away, on the continent, the war against the undead began. The Keziltian Kingdom had to spend lots of resources on the war and they had no spare money and ships to sustain a remote island that doesn't even offer any profit. They simply stopped all locomotion between Blackpond and the rest of the kingdom, abandoning the island and its inhabitants. After all, five hundred fishermen and a bunch of old boats weren't that big of a loss, compared to the losses they suffered on the front lines.

Denizens of Blackpond island felt alone and betrayed, left to mercy of the uncaring sea. They survived in such conditions for several months, during which the island was hit by heavy storms that severely damaged many boats. It seemed as if the divine Lord too has abandoned that island. But then, in the dark of the night, a massive green comet tore through the clouds and landed into the sea a few miles west from the island. Soon after that, people of Blackpond began seeing repeating dreams of the giant otherworldly beast resting beneath the waves, calling them and offering power and protection in exchange for servitude. Desperate, the people of the island gathered on the rocky beach and prayed to the beast of the comet to help them, abandoning their old uncaring god. From the water emerged a swarm of worm-like creatures that crawled towards the crowd. At that moment, everyone heard the voice of the beast inside their heads. "I am La'Gorg from the twin-star Kahurr. Those are creatures of my flesh. Consume them and be changed." And so, each man, woman and child swallowed one worm, feeling how they slide down their throats and fuse with their flesh.

Two days after that, every person on the island underwent a bizarre transformation. Their skin became covered by smooth tiny scales, green, blue or grey in color, their eyes grew bigger and their heads began resembling those of a fish. Membranes appeared between their toes and fingers and gills grew on their necks. People of the Blackpond island were now changed into fish'like abominations, yet many found a strange beauty in their new appearance. Soon, they even discovered that they can change between human and fish-man form whenever they want. People heard the voice of the star beast again. It told them about the new abilities it gave to them, taught them how to catch fish more efficiently and even how to farm it. They were now able to swim beneath the waves and be one with the sea, using strange magic and mind abilities to bend the uncaring universe to their will. They thanked La'Gorg and began worshiping him, bringing offerings, building grotesque shrines and participating in unholy rituals. And so, people of Blackpond took the name Gorglans, children of the waves and servants of La'Gorg.
