Description This is really old, I can't believe I haven't uploaded it yet.

I came up with the idea for Fiore while researching unbuilt utopian cities, focusing on the work of Paolo Soleri (who designed Arcosanti and many other compact cities, which he called "arcologies"). I tried to combine the concentric ring structure of Soleri’s work with the Gothic style of an old favorite building, Il Duomo di Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, Italy. My goal was to both model the elegance and symmetry of Soleri’s designs, and to explore Il Duomo's role as the cultural heart of Florence and the seed of the renaissance.

Board, wire, paper, acrylic paint, and found objects (wooden stool). ~1.5' width x 1.5' depth x 4' height. 2014.
