He was Papa O'Neils Australian great nephew and he moved to the US at the age of 35 1 month before the The Walking Dead zombie apocalypse
He worked with the O'Neils for about 10 years then sadly he died to a rival gang.

Brette was the more calmer, tamer and intelligent version of Mully [if you have seen Fight Club you would maybe get it]
2. He has a son he took with to the US called Casey Damien O'Neil
3. His wife was killed by a zombie koala
