It's interesting how you mention his acting was kind of "robotic" and it's consistent; I've never thought of his acting in the new trilogy as trying to relate to that. Also, it's been suggested that he may have had Borderline Personality Disorder and one reason that's mentioned is dissociative episodes, which often involves an expressionless and flat face and voice, which is the way Anakin gets so it could be seen as a symptom rather than bad acting. It would actually be interesting if they had a mental illness/disorder in mind that they were trying to portray (considering the severe abandonment issues, it's hard not to think of BPD); he was definitely mentally and emotionally unstable.

Add 3-5 years of constant intergalactic war, and you have a PTSD Jedi Knight.

Well, that still doesn't explain a lot though. I'm not saying he might not have had it (I've thought of it being possible that he had PTSD from watching his mother die in front of him; that was obviously pretty traumatic for him considering he went into a blind rage and killed all those aliens.) Borderline Personality Disorder helps explain the severe fear of abandonment and efforts to avoid abandonment, identity issues, impulsiveness, intense moods/mood swings, sensitivity to criticism, possible dissociative episodes, and "black and white" thinking. It's also very possible that he had depression or Bipolar Disorder as well. It's possible that Anakin could've had Borderline Personality Disorder as well as PTSD and/or depression or Bipolar Disorder (PTSD and other anxiety disorders as well as mood disorders are actually common co-occuring disorders with BPD) so he may have had a multitude of mental disorders, which helps explain why he was so mentally unstable and suffered such a great deal.

As you said in the end of your reply, I wasn't saying he only had PTSD but I was adding it to your theory of mental disorders, which is very convincing.

Oh, okay, I didn't know that's what you meant. Honestly, I think it he must have had a mental disorder or a combination of mental disorders because he definitely wasn't mentally healthy.

GREAT PIC!!!
In universe, it is hard to believe the frightened, little blonde-haired kid on the far left would grow into the most-feared man alive (2nd from the right). It is clear to see that as Anakin grew older, the darkness of evil shrouded him more and more until it imprisioned him in his (in)famous black suit of life-sustaining armor. But his last act while he was alive paved the way for his deliverance after his death....
Clever of taresh by not showing the face of Anakin's Force ghost. This way, he looks like either Sebastian Shaw (for the OT purists) or Hayden Christensen (for the SE OT/full 6-film saga fans) - thus sparing the comment board for this pic of any 'flame wars' over this issue.
The presentation of this idea in this picture surpases the 'glimpse' we got of Anakin's future on the famous EPISODE I poster wher he cast a shadow on the side of a building in the shape of a silhouette of Darth Vader - his future self.
Thank you taresh for creating and sharing this picture.

The fact that you included Clone Wars, aka Star Wars' cause of death, kind of ruins the epic factor. Sorry.

Evolution from man to machine. Awesome.
Agreed with you on his actors. Me personally, I felt that Hayden Christensen was miscast in his role. He definitely improved his acting chops in Episode III but I felt that he might have needed more coaching when it came to his line readings. But NEVER did I feel that he was AWFUL in his role. And yeah, it does make sense seeing that David Prowse wasn't that great an actor either. Plus when Darth Vader tells Obi-Wan in Episode IV, "When I left you I was but the learner, now I am the master.", it sounded so stale and so lifeless, given the fact that he's slowly losing his humanity, but still.
Yet whenever Hayden wears a facial expression of either sorrow or anger, wields a lightsaber, marches on the Jedi Temple, and gets burnt in a lava pit, he does a pretty good job at that.
But still, amazing job here friend!

Vader is the bomb, yes, but Anakin was portrayed so much better in the novelizations of the prequel trilogy.
