I couldn't just go and draw Durins and forget Dís. It's a shame not much is known about her, but then we DO get to imagine it ourselves!

I imagine her to be quite serious, and she took care of the Ered Luin while her brother went out to take their home back. She appears very stoic and stern, also to her sons, which makes her smiles all the more special. Of course Dís cares deeply about her family, and even though she is the youngest of the three, she is the most responsible. She understands why Thorin would want to set out on such a quest, but does have doubts. What if they fail to get back Erebor, and lose the Ered Luin too? Now that they finally have a decent life again, why should they risk it? That is why she stayed, and because she is the most capable of ruling over the other dwarrows.

She did once have a beautiful beard, but in this picture I imagined she had shorn it to mourn her brother and sons.
