It's funny to see how I fail to identify aspects of myself at the time they are conceived [well, honestly who becomes fully aware of themselves all at once, the moment they ARE realized in consciousness?] .
Mostly, they are discovered when specific attributes become central to my life- when they become the encompassing and dominant emotional issues I am dealing with, or exhibiting.

Gudurn is one of the characters I really came to "discover" when I was doing my Literal Studies abroad.
It's funny because her character is elusive in nature, and she didn't exactly become fully conceived for many MANY years. So elusive in fact, that her gender couldn't really be "distinguished" by myself until probably end of last year. This because I later realized that leaving her genderless, and her "non stereotypical female" design left her to be categorized as "male". This infuriated me for a long time and I didn't know why... until it became apparent that it was because she was female.

When abroad I was trying to remain elusive myself; some cultures tend to be more open to others, while some are very restricted. Since I come from a very heavily mixed background, there isn't many I cannot offend simply by my being.
I will admit too, it was also because I have learned that when you tread on other's culture grounds, it is best to be quiet and courteous; even if you are trying to achieve things [personal and within the cause], it is deemed as "theft" in the eyes of those who's culture you are studying in. Elusive is sometimes for the best.

Gudurn is not specifically an aspect of my character, as much as she is- or more so grew to be- a "controller".
What this means is that she is the one that puts a stop to any anger, outburst, violent reaction, and/or explosive emotion that comes from instinct and immediate reaction. She controls the impulsive side, allowing a more calm and rational adult/elder side to function in the place of erratic behavior. Hence she is elusive; she ONLY come out when there is a situation. She doesn't "hang around" to express a constant aspect of my character.

Gudrun's best contribution to my ongoing changing and developing character is that she is the part of me that is "experience" that teaches the younger "self". Or, as one of my Elder's said: When the Adult you turns and explain things to the child you. Meaning, it's that conscious part of you that begins to understand things in an older, wiser shape and form, and then quells whatever trauma, and bad emotion being held onto from a "child state".
So when you are holding on to a lot of anger against, say, a parent that you think wronged you, it's Gudrun that eventually "explains" why things were done the way they were- so that you begin to understand that it was a matter of consequence, context, and adult insight that wouldn't let you drink 5 gallons of coke a day... not that "mom was being mean".

Gudrun is a Rabbit-Fawn mix.
It's the fawn that gives it the innocence, gentility and naiveté she needs to rationalize and mediate with the impulse. The rabbit makes it swift- swift to quell the outburst of emotions that are more primitive, and robust enough to endure a constant back-and-forth. You HAVE to be fast in order to catch those in time.
While fuzzy and cute in appearance- she is aggressive and dominating, even for something to diminutive. The carnivores teeth [biting mouth] is it's indication to its sharp and dominant personality. You have to be, after all- as impulse is quite explosive... and you have to check out how HE looks.

Gudrun is also modeled after a species of Supernatural being ["forest spirits"] in one of the European cultures. I refrain from saying which one, simply because I don't want to deal with the cultural backlash by those who have a mainstream view on the concept.

What a story! I guess that is one good use for an OC. Looks I might need that calming something myself once in a while.

Sort of puts me in mind of a fuan (I know he isn't one, but that is what he puts me in mind of)

SHE is not a faun, although admittedly, hen conceptualizing her story she is going to be the main character of, it started off exploring Pan and fauns. However, none of their descriptions fit the concept I was trying to portray, until I was abroad in another culture that introduced me to their supernatural beings.. and then she seemed to fit the bill spot on. Sometimes, it only takes a little patience!

The talent speaks for itself, but the insight with each work really makes it. It makes me wonder what would come out of me if I had your skills.

Oi, I know how that feels; Adult me vs. kid me. It's a never ending story...heh. Anyway, I love the character and her traits! I like how the mix of the rabbit and the fawn are combined; if you think about it, both the fawn and rabbit are both speedy animals, and are certainly adorable, and it's because of these traits and many others that they work so well. I look forward to seeing more!

Not to be mean, but I thought this would be a fun fact for you. Gudrun in Denmark is actually a woman's name. My grandmother on my mom's side was called that.
