The 15 th and final piece I did for Anime North 2008.This one featuring Hitsugaya and the Ice Lung.
I have to admit, this one demanding some predesign and thought as to how I was going to approach the lung. I want to have a design flow- especially on the head. Really something that would describe the icy spikes and the way they seem to form in a structured “blown back” construction that would also parallel the organic form.

Oh, geez, the dragon seriously looks like ice to me. Wow, I love this. He's never been one of my favorite characters, but I must admit, he has a very cool ban kai. Lovely work.

Well, it worked! I love the way Shirou-chan's spiky hair morphs into the dragon's scales. Another thing I love is the way the soft grey-ish Chinese-style clouds soften the contrast between the boy's stark black outline and his zanpakuto's blue contours.
The only thing about his outline that seems a little off to me is his forelock. Your strength is the capability to depict overly exaggerated anime-style characters in a more realistic, believable way. This forelock, however, has such an anime-style feel about it that it looks like a piece of cloth hanging across his forehead.
AND ZOMG Shirou-chan looks older and more mature. It gives the spectator an impression of what a heartthrob he will be when he will have grown up. Whoever he will end up with (or whoever fandom decides will be his partner), she will be one lucky bitch for sure!
Man, is he ever smexy! The most attractive thing about him is his determined, penetrating glare. In this picture you've captured it beautifully.
