This is amazing. I live in australia, and, like many other people out there, and a Thylacine addict. I think it was humanity's greatest mistake for ever hunting down the Thylacine. And now we're trying to bring them back from (the brink of?) extinction !! That shows how much we think we can play god...

Anyways, I love your gallery, and this is a great picture
Keep up the amazing work~!

Poor lil extinct bugger...did you know there are these scientists who are trying to clone them from a preserved joey? Unfortunately they can't get a good DNA sequence...it seems the formaldihyde (stupid kira can't spell to save her life...>.<") has corrupted it...*sighs* Then again there are people who claim to have seen them & still believe they are a live & well...hiding in some remote forested areas & only coming out cuz people ahve encroached on their territory...

tarkheki In reply to kirayasha [2005-04-09 17:50:38 +0000 UTC]

I know! I think that that just PROVES how wrong coling is! We can't trust that we can do the RIGHT thing and preserve these animals, so we'll just "clone-em-up when we got rid of them all!". What a load of bull!

How true!! But it is an interesting concept, that of bringing back an extinct animal...I mean it worked for Jurasic park! However, we should try & save those animals on the brink of extinction so that cloning isn't neccessary at all... It truly is amazing how stupid people can be to just up & destroy things like thta...

tarkheki In reply to Changer-the-Elder [2005-04-07 00:59:44 +0000 UTC]

I't called a "Thylacine".
More "common" names are "Tasmanian Wolf" or "Tasmanian Tiger".

Reminds me of Tasmanian Tigers, unless of course it /is/ a Tassie Tiger, with a fancy name, and im just stupid Awesome pose!

tarkheki In reply to melleh [2005-04-06 01:43:58 +0000 UTC]

Yes actually it is. Just "Tasmanian Tiger/Wolf" is the "common" name for them, but they niether belong to the canis family, or the felis. They are (or more accuratley "were") marseupeals.

You know...it looks pretty cool. And...um...not to be rude, but what exactly is it? It's probably pretty obvious, but my head hurts and I'm not thinking all that well right now. *worried about looking like a total dumbass*

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tarkheki In reply to mentalbaka [2005-04-06 01:42:52 +0000 UTC]

Oh no, you do not!
It's a "Thylacine", more commonly known as the extinct "Tasmanian tiger" or "Tasmanian wolf". They are marsupeals though... or "were" to be exact.

Ok...now it makes more sense. I guess I just didn't recognize the name. Hmm...now I feel pretty dumb. Oh well, it happens.

Freakin awesome!! I'm amazed at how you made the lines look so clean. I never thought of these guys as unpopular, just unknown.....Yes, strange and unpopular animals need more attention! Aren't marsupials the most unique bunch of animals ever?
...Which reminds me...I need to work on my TasmanianDevil guy....

Thylacines! Good to see them getting some artistic attention. Great job on that face, especially the mouth. I like how he's still animatable, if you will, but has nicely defined muscles and good anatomy more akin to realistism.

That's ok. You are talking to the typo queen!
Yah, I always loved that semi-realism line art. Like they did in "Brother bear" when Kenai fights the mother bear. THat looks SOOo blody awsome!

however i just wanted to point out that you drew the pouch facing in the wrong direction. the thylacine pouch faces to the rear.
