Belle Epoque Tarot- THE TOWER -
I have worked on this project for the past three years and have individually sketched each card digitally. I am proud to be launching it now on Kickstarter. You can pledge for it and get your unique copy via this link:
Belle Epoque tarot
Portrayed on the card is Tatlin’s Tower, or the project for the Monument to the
Third International (1919-20). Therefore, in some ways it could also be understood as
the Tower of Babylon, which was the primary inspiration for the project.
This is a symbol of new ideas being on the verge to replace old ones.
The collapse of the tyrannical past is always painful - it brings along the clash of new
ideas and the act of letting go from the bygone. The image of The Tower holds no trace of
Humanism. It is a painful release from the toll of the past, as well as a fearful
anticipation of that which is to come. Indeed, when the revolution comes, it is as if
everything is sacrificed in the name of its Ideal.
