Here is the cover for Chapter One of Weaponry (not the book cover, mind you, just the chapter). Hilarious that only now do I do a cover seeing as we're 3 pages from the -end- of the chapter. Ahem.So, this is Arrow, and I attempted to do an Art Nouveau style, since from the very beginning of this project I wanted to do art nouveau illustrations for it.
This is going up in the archives of the comic on the website, so it seemed fair to also upload it here. I'm thinking of getting prints of this done up as part of the fundraiser - does that sound appealing?

I really like the tones of this one and the composition really reminds me of the illustrations for Angel Sanctuary which is my favourite manga so no points lost there!
I also rather like the smoke in the border... I can never get doodles to have that art noveau flavor.

I'm really happy with this one - now I've got to try to come up with a cover image to match. I got into this comic wanting to do more Art Nouveau stuff, but thus far I haven't had much of an opportunity yet, haha...
Still, I'm starting to get the hang of the looseness I need in my wrist to achieve those swoops - and then photoshop is my friend for mirror-imaging things.

That's what the illustrations are for. Art Book afterwards! Opportunity to do really polished non-Canon stuff! (every time I type Canon, I think of Cannon and that's not correct lol Kinda like Daeron, Dorian, and Not-Durian that I still get mixed up)

That's a great idea! It's be fun to put together a bunch of sketches, design work, illustrations etc. I've kinda been planning to include them with each print issue, but eventually, I should have enough stuff to put an artbook together... won't be for many chapters yet, though!

To play devil's advocate, selling an art book featuring characters from Weaponry would also be a linking point to attract audiences. After all, what section do we gravitate towards at Book-Off? The Art Books and if I like the art of a book, be it designs, colours, or setting, I ask what anime/manga it's from.
There's potential there too. I know I'd like to see you do an artbook (regardless of setting, though I vote Ul-Zaorith and Weaponry at the very least - I know Angel*Down gives you trouble sometimes)

Oh, you know me! I adore art books! I'd be more than happy to do art books for everything I do! Hell, some of my stories might never get told other than through the art. I could see a Primal Crusade book someday that is just snippets of RP and vignette scenes and a lot of illustrations. But my issue is, a lot of my sketches and such aren't polished enough to make an art book. I just lack sufficient material that I would pay for. When I have enough, I'll totally compile some!

Yeah, at the 'first' official convention I took Weaponry to, I didn't have much to show for them except a few keychains, stickers, and the original copy which I was penciling in. And because of the rough style of the comics, I don't think it'd translate well to a full-sized print... I want to do more proper promo illustrations for it (and for this first print volume I've got at least 3 images that might do nice prints). Gotta find the time to do the leg work, otherwise no one will know what Weaponry is, eh?
and I do hope you'll continue to follow the comic~
