But wasn't Octobriana a character from "The Adventures of Luther Arkwright" ?

The good thing about Octobriana is that everyone can have his own version! She's sort of an universal rebel - (and a "mega babe" who rocks - which fits very well your illustration)

Nice touch : the little innovation of the goggles with the star.

Glad you noticed it. Didn't want to put a star tattoo on her head. Figured I switchout the star and red bandanna with the red goggle and white star on the nose bridge.

She pretty hot for a muscle chick... 'cept there is something weird happening with her arm. Like the bicep is behind her lat.

I noticed that after the fact and tried to cover it up in Photoshop. A bit of a fail there. lol

A new hero, huh? Good to have another agent of justice around town, and a pretty good looking one at that.

Nice character design, but she's going to have a hard time hiding her secret identity if she choses to have one. And her Hypnotic Voice power, how does that work? Is it an emotional calming effect, or more like a Control Person? And does the target have to be able to understand her?

Other than that, she looks very cool and I like her character sheet.

tartanninja In reply to Lurker-Below [2010-03-22 18:21:38 +0000 UTC]

I don't see her as having a secret identity.

The Hypnotic Voice power can be used to calm or agitate a target. The target would not have to be able to understand her. It's the 'spirit' of the spoken words not the words themselves. I figure, with all of the dialects and languages that exist in that region, it would make sense. Speaking would just be a requirement to use the power. Her voice cannot be taken to the level of controlling a person only to 'sway'.

Thanks for asking those questions. I think that helped flesh out a couple of things I hadn't entirely thought of.

Immunity to cold, that would explain the "Top" she's almost wearing.

I'd like to see her in Siberia in it, with everyone else complaining.

I based the character off of the original [link] If you look at the image to the right, you'll see that she wasn't wearing much either. lol

What would we do without the Public Domain. ^^

Liking the spin you put on this incarnation of the character, can't wait to see what adventures she'll get into. ^_^

Thank you. lol

I've made no secret that the name Octobriana and original character was created by Peter SadeckΓ½. Everyone can find out more about the original here [link] I really liked the name and I based her look off of the original.

Actually, it's still speculated whether he created her or just stole the idea from the USSR.

Either way, she's part of the public domain now. XD

Empathy and hypnotic voice... not to mention immunity to cold in particular, some interesteind twists on the formula for this character, I'll be looking forward to seeign how she's implemented.

tartanninja In reply to Levia-the-Dragon [2010-03-22 15:20:14 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much.

I thought about what kind of abilities a being that was created out of the hearts and minds of a people. In my mind, she would need to know how the people felt and to be able to soothe them when called for. Hence Empathy and Hypnotic Voice.

I gave her Regeneration to account for her age and to make her as durable as an ideal would be. An ideal can be attacked but can always be brought back to 'health' by tenacity and the people who hold it.

Invulnerability to cold was a given for a Russian hero. lol

If she were to be 'of the people' she would have the combined Strength of the people.

Expert Marksman was the only offensive type power I thought she should have. Blasts and bolts seemed to be to ostentatious for her.

At the height of the USSR, she may have been more powerful. With the collapse of Communism, in Russia, she was weakened to the level we see her now. Her people exist, the ideal that bore her is no longer a part of her people.
