Description Been wanting to try a romance novel cover for a while, it's for a contest put up by Tacostock. I have 3 other projects going on, but decided to take a break for a day and try something else. Let me know what you think; what's wrong with the image. I know it's not as good as a lot of romance covers, but I don't think it's that bad, I've seen some look like this, mostly the smaller publishers with lower budgets. I will try more to get better, I enjoy the research involved: staring at a stack of cheesy mind-candy.

Nice work... I'm trying something VERY different with the same pose, at least from a certain angle, but this is lovely. Very romance-covery

For the most part I think it looks excellent. The only thing that really caught my eye was that some parts seem more three-dimensional than others. For example, it looks deeper at the woman's neck than the flowers behind the man's head.

yes, I see that now, thanks! I didn't put enough detail in the background as a whole, it will give me something to work on.

I must agree. I like it, and it is deffinately better than a lot of stuff I've seen, but some things are a little odd. I also think that shadows are not obvious enough. For example, the coloring of the dress is such that it looks like it's all in the same light. Sorry, I'm a bit of a fanatic about shading. Also, her waist looks paper-flat for some reason. Please don't take this the wrong way. I do like it. It's just minor details that I talk too elaborately on. Good job.

I'm not taking it the wrong way at all. I appreciate a good critique and your attention to detail and it will give me something to look at the for the future. What do you mean about the shading, do you mean that it's too flat, or that I need to have more reflected colors from the surroundings?

Thanks!
