Description It’s Oswald.
He’s pacing like another classic character...
And he’s kinda mad at me

I’ve been noticing since I joined the Oswald Club on dA, there’s been a huge spike of Oswald fanart, Especially since epic Mickey came out, and I feel I’m falling behind…
But I wanna make up for that.

And I guess I should start by saying
I was an Oswald fan Before he was even Cool.

When I was little, my favorite book in the world was “Discover How Things Work”
It was this big encyclopedic book about how exactly machines, toys, and other cool things worked, with simple yet detailed enough text, and big beautiful color illustrations of them in sliced view, so it’s even easier to understand that even as a child you could get it.
And this book had just about Everything: from blenders, to toasters, to hook-and-loop fasteners to key holes, how a bicycle works, to how a car works, how space shuttles, solar energy and even nuclear reactor. So you can imagine how smart a kid of 8 years feels reading it…
It even explained how Photos are taken, how Movies work, how 3D movies are made, but my favorite page explained how Cartoons were made. but it explained the now outdated “cell animation”.
But every single article came with a little paragraph of a funny true story involving the topic.
And the paragraph for "Cartoons" can be read here “[link]

So yeah, almost as long as I knew Mickey Mouse I knew the name Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
And thanks to “One Man’s Dream” at Disney’s MGM Studios I saw abou 3 seconds of Oswald jumping into a pool! Since then that was all I knew.
Until about in 2006 after discovering Felix the Cat cartoons on youtube, I searched some other classic names, and I found Oswald, soon, as you could ask anybody who knew me at the time, I considered myself an Oswald fan.
It seemed I only watched the ones Walt Disney himself was involved in. (as it seems with all the show’s im fan of nowadays, soon as the good people leave, the thing looses quality)

Actually I know, because I distinctly remember raising an eyebrow when he was bought back from Universal. I had no idea if they were gonna do anything with him, I thought it was all symbolic.

When I first saw concept of Epic Mickey, I took a guess of people capable of doing… That to Disneyworld.
(next to Hannah Montana, and Michael Eisner) I assumed the only guy was Oswald the Lucky rabbit, since he was a Mickey before Mickey, vengefully taking back the life that he thinks was right fully his.
Still having no idea about the “forgotten character” idea, when I saw Oswald’s picture in the Game Informer shots, prettymuch confirmed my prediction.
(till of course I learned about the “forgotten character” theme and that’s not the “real” Disneyworld)
Even in late 2009 with all the concept art released, no one knew or cared about Oswald at all (atleast people I knew in real life)
And now that Epic Mickey’s out, I say “Oswald the Lucky Rabbit” and they go “Oh from Epic Mickey? Yeah he’s awesome”. I tell them I knew Oswald before Epic Mickey, I never forgot him. They say “Your Lying, your just saying that to sound nice” T__T

Prettymuch the whole point of this is to tell everybody, and Oswald himself if he’s reading

“I Always knew who Oswald is, and I Never forgot him.”

...Come to think of it, this is the Oswald equivalent of [link]
So this y’know what this means… More Oswald art

And before some More old forgotten characters reemerge as a fad, let me just say
Bosco, Honey, Beans the Cat, Krazy Kat, Ignatz, Koko the Clown, Bimbo, Flip the Frog, Willie Whooper, Andy Panda, Foxy, Little Nemo, The Four Musicians, the Alice Comedies,...Gertie the Dinosaur!
I know All of these guys!

Actually Tintin doesnt really fall into the Oswald Felix Bimbo group
Tintin fits in more with the Spike and Suzy crowd [link]
In terms of history popularity format and overall awareness.

Oswald keeps on walking, keeps on walking still.
With his hands behind him, you will always find him.
Blew him up with dynamite, but him they couldn't kill.
Miles up in the air he flew,
He just murmured "Toodle-oo!"
Landed down in Timbuctoo, and kept on walking still.

by the way. cool. ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

EmmetEarwax In reply to MollyKetty [2011-03-01 22:05:56 +0000 UTC]

The song seems to be inspired by the old Felix the Cat song "Felix kept walking" back in Sullivan's day.

It is said that Disney, Sullivan and most recently Deitch smoked from a chondra pipe, thus incurring visions of a black cat-like being. Excessive use, however, can cause total insanity.
