A friend and I have a post-canon storyline that we're co-creating where Gavin gets an RK900 to work with at the DPD. (And then in the long run they end up splitting the cost of a bigger house with Hank and Connor and it's all insanity and crazy shenanigans but that's a while after this picture takes place.)
Gavin and Nines (named Conan in this storyline) are slightly more of my friend's headcanons for the characters, while Hank and Connor are slightly more of mine, but it's still definitely a combination.
Anyway, I wrote a fic in which, as the result of an unfortunate turn of events, Gavin discovers quite suddenly that maybe he DOESN'T entirely want Nines to die alone in a hole somewhere, so that's what this drawing is from. A passerby had called the police, and an ambulance for some reason, but with less than half an hour left in his clock, Conan realized that it was basically all over for him. He bit back the programmed “Please contact your nearest Cyberlife Center for repairs immediately” mantra that was trying to push through his deviancy.
G__, he had lost a lot of thirium. Apparently his assailant hadn’t deemed #8577 a scarce enough biocomponent on the black market to spare it because the bullet had entered squarely between Conan’s “collarbones”. Conan wondered if his voice would even work anymore.
He also wondered if the police would get there before or after he shut down.
…were those sirens or just the alarm in his own system?
