I always wanted to be a ballerina too, but I've never been...even remotely skinny or graceful. So now I just take photos of ballerinas XD

i love this picture! there might be one thing i would change though. the background is light, the legs are light and so are the shoes. all of it together makes it look like a washed out photo (unless that's what you were going for). if i were taking this picture i would have made the background a lot darker.

i know i know i know. this photo drives me absolutely bananas because everytime i look at it i see a million ways it could be improved. i'm doing a reshoot this sunday with a different dancer, and i plan to use a black backdrop this time around.

it could even be better with a different backgroung/floor.. if you have the chance, why dont you try to shoot it on a semi-reflective light colored surface?

i shot this photo nearly a year ago, and at the time, had like NO resources available, haha. i had to use a wrinkly old sheet because it was the only thing i had. but i am doing a reshoot this weekend, and plan to use both a better backdrop and better lighting. i hate this photo so much, you have no idea, because i know i could have done so much better.

when i was six i walked out of my first ballet lesson and all my life i've regretted it.
very beautiful, also very powerful in its, well, in its simplicity 
the light makes the legs look a little too grey for me, but the overall colour and composition is great.

i miss dance more than i can say, and i still regret quitting, though i had good reasons at the time.
i wasn't a ballerina though, haha.
anyway, i'm glad you like it. honestly, this is definitely not the best shot i've ever taken, and i know it could be improved about a thousand ways, but it's great to see people responding so well to it

This is so well composed! I took lyrical dance when I was younger but I've always wanted a pair of cheap pointe shoes just to see what they're like and/or use them for photography. I'm just scared to walk into a dance store and ask.

if you're looking for old pointe shoes, ask someone you know who has taken pointe ballet. there's a really good chance they have an old pair lying around [since they have to replace them every few years] and most of them would be happy to give them to you. dance stores carry second hand ones as well, but they're more expensive than you might think.
