Description I'm a huge Edgar Rice Burroughs fan, and I can't help but be excited about the prospect of Pixar working on a John Carter of Mars film. This is a sketch of Dejah Thoris, the Princess of Mars, a somewhat popular character that pops up in commissions all the time. A bit more computer touching up on this piece than what I usually do.

I like that Retro ( John Carter of Mars, Flash Gordon, Wonder Woman, Buck Rogers ) characters are still popular after all these years. Dejah is always a WINNER. I love the detail in this piece, & she seems aloof & DEFINITELY regal without being overly haughty. Like a cat sunning in its favorite spot.

Dave,
I just noticed this Deja piece. Nicely done. SF pinup style. I like the blues. Im also a big ERB fan and do art inspired by his works alot. I also hope they do this character justice with the Pixas pic. Its great to see it finally being filmed in my lifetime but its so difficult to picture it done well on film i will reserve judgement till its out.

For some reason, whenever I see Dejah Thoris I can't help but feel that Mila Kunis of That 70's Show would be just perfect for the role.

Ashton Kutchner as John Carter?
Not so good

I would agree with you on Mila as a good Dejah. Interesting to see how the John Carter movie turns out.

I'm actually going through "Princess of Mars" right now. This looks hot, But one thing I'm noticing now is that out of all the portrayals of Thoris by artists, not very many show her as being red, as her breed of martian are always described. Although Burroughs may just be suggesting that they look like native americans, I keep on picturing them as a bright red color (which isn't nearly as sexy).

Great Face!! and gorgeous rest.
Love the books too - and fear the movie will be too much for younger viewers.
But at least Lynn Collins will be a lovely Dejah Thoris.

this is an excellent portrayal! As far as being excited about the movie - everything I've read about it is disheartening. I hope Pixar doesn't crush our dreams cause I love those books!
