    Base Racial Rolls:

  • +4 to speed
  • +2 Charisma (eg. Lying, diplomacy, Intimidation)
  • +2 to stealth

    Situational

  • When mimicking someone else, add an extra +2 to intimidate against that specific enemy while wearing their form while keening or making an action to threaten. This is not automatically rolled on contact but must be actively selected/announced.
  • This character is treated as perfectly mundane while acting as a normal person.

    Intangibility

  • Flicker: If the fetch becomes semi-intangible then the opponent takes a 50% chance miss penalty to hit the fetch, however the Fetch also has a 50% miss chance to hit the opponent.
When attacking roll 1d2, on a 1 the attack fails to land.
  • If the Fetch is fully intangible it cannot be affected by physical attacks, nor can it affect the world around it.
((Activating this automatically transforms the fetch out out of whatever human form it is wearing))
  • The intangible Fetch is affected by Cold Iron Weapons, Exorcists and certain types of Witchcraft. If using a weapon that can affect the fetch, damage proceeds as normal and intangibility becomes ineffective.

    Positive

  • The ability to emulate physical forms and fool most senses. [[Refer to race document]]
  • Mentally Adaptive: The Fetch learns very quickly, especially in it's formative years.
  • Ability to switch between corporeal and incorporeal. (In battle they must roll to dodge before switching if being attacked or they'll take the blow anyway, if under stress/in a stressful situation they will need to roll as well.)
  • Does not conventionally need to age, eat or sleep unless they are using a physical body.
  • When in human form injuries heal at normal speeds, but as long as the wound is not fatal then most injuries will dissapear when the Fetch transitions to a new form.

    Negative

  • A fetch never EVER has a gift due to the sheer versatility of their transformations.
  • Recieve a -4 penalty against [[Cold Iron Weapons]], these weapons kill it even if it is incorporeal.
  • -2 against exorcists
  • -2 against witches, -3 if the witch is specifically trained to deal with the Aes Sidhe.
  • If the witch is of the Seagh Bloodline she can automatically subjugate the fetch to her will, they also have the ability to dispel them, [[for all intents and purposes, erasing them from this plane/killing them.]]
  • Inherits all the flaws of it's target, for example if they emulate someone in a wheelchair they will also be wheelchair bound.
  • Cannot affect the physical world while incorporeal.
  • True for can be revealed in a cold iron mirror/reflection if they are not careful.
  • Will die whilst mortally wounded in human form, or if they reach the end of their lifespan while in human form.

    ---

  • Refraction 【Fetch Perk】

"Heh, you're not as special as you think!"

  • You copy an opponent's perk, announce this perk before you transform into the other character. You can also elect not to use the perk.
  • This perk cannot copy a base racial perk or unique perks. (Ie. Vampire queen, Lycanthropy).

  • There Can Only Be One 【Fetch Perk】

    "Nothing personal."

  • As long as you are wearing someone’s form you take a +2 to attack and evasion vs that specific individual.

Personality

"Sometimes I wonder if a vital part of me is broken."

||Swings between nice and aggressive || Choleric/Melancholic personality complex || unpredictable || Loyal ||  Depressed ||

Slayter // Romeo's personality is goal oriented, with a fleeting interest in social interactions, able to be direct, blunt and forceful, but also able to easily calm and take a more sensitive disposition. If the right words are known, and the triggers to their anger are not tripped, then it is easy to calm an upset Romeo. However, they are plagued by a number of underlying problems, including a low esteem and a highly melancholic disposition. At times they can become overwhelmingly somber, sometimes the most subtle of issues triggering a souring of mood that Romeo has a tendency to not explain. A part of Romeo feels underwhelmingly empty upon introspection, due to not being socialised, a glaring and sensitive issue is the fact that simply put, they did not have many of the quintessential experiences that shape and inform a person as they grow up. this in turn feeds into an inferiority complex.

【Pre Re-opening History】

"If man is not definable, it is because to begin with he is nothing. He will not be anything until later, and then he will be what he makes of himself."
- Macquarie, J. (1973)

When Romeo manifested in Ireland, he was modelled after a wealthy shipping company executive. He was manifested as a curse by a woman who belonged to an old lineage of witches, as the man had affronted her. Romeo was responsible for the downfall of the man, ruining his business not through spite but by imitating him and driving his business through the ground with sheer bumbling incompetence. The man went insane as a result, believing that he had been experiencing lapses of memory or creating false ones as he could not account for those moments. When Romeo finally appeared in front of him, the man decided that he was experiencing the culmination of his insanity, and subsequently committed suicide the following evening.

Romeo did not comprehend that this was a possibility, not until it was too late.

Romeo was released from his directive, and the woman who summoned him either could not or simply did not dismiss him. Either way, he ran, because Romeo did not want to meet his creator again. There was little to a life of subservience and spite that appealed to him, and he had enough individuality that he could make the plunge for freedom.

Romeo crossed over to England, and assumed the identity of an individual that caught his interest. A young werewolf named Romeo, and identity that he would assume the majority of the time. The original Romeo is deceased; he appeared in the muck of the river Thames, face down with little to hint as to what happened to him. He was discovered by the mudlarks, badly decomposed and with little to identify him. He was given a few sentences in the obituary, and subsequently London forgot about him. It is likely not linked to the Romeo impersonating him, due to the time that it occurred it is likely that his death was linked to the travesty at the river festival and a stroke of bad luck.

Romeo, the living doppelganger of the original, is currently making an earnest living as a rat catcher. He is not yet intelligent enough for much more than unskilled labour, though he is very adaptive and learns quickly by seeing and doing.

【Updated History】

"Man is condemned to be free; because once thrown into the world, he is responsible for everything he does."

- Sartre, J.P

Romeo began to quickly outgrow their role as a rat catcher, being filled with discontent with the path of their life as their intelligence was steadily increasing. Perhaps, with a mix of a childish personality, and the yearning for more, the fetch was filled with a general contempt for everything and everyone around them. Quitting their position, they turned to thievery, with their abilities they were predisposed to being very skilled with it, and the allure of easy profit was irresistible to them. From the outside at least, it seemed to be easy going in, but much more difficult after transitioning in.

Romeo (under a female identity known as Lia)  would perhaps get their first taste for danger after encountering a hit man and thief known as Slayter, who they ran into when attempting to rob a jewellery store during the dead of night. Though the pair were overlooked by the creatures of the night the pair immediately came into conflict over a particular piece, the ensuing scuffle waking the store owner who was sleeping in the upstairs floor. The old man came down the stairs brandishing a pistol, the job was botched. Upon seeing the weapon, Romeo's immediate thought was to abandon the scene. Romeo jolted, their hood coming down as they barely having enough time to move before the sound of a bullet tore through the air, and the shop owner collapsed.

Slayter, was brandishing his own pistol, then proceeded to bash the case that contained the piece that he wanted, claiming it for himself. He turned to the novice thief, giving them a smirk as he proceeded to hold the gun aloft and chuckled. "That was sloppy." his grin slowly growing sinister as he began the threaten Romeo, "You're a novice aren't you? I'll be generous and let you get away unscathed. Though obviously, since you ruined my night you should make it up to me by hauling as much as you can on my behalf."

Romeo, stopped in their tracks, hearing the click of the hammer as the man in front of them pulled it back. Though Romeo's life had been a bit hard, they'd never ever really faced any sort of serious danger in their life, and frankly it left them a bit terrified and rooted to the spot.

"So you're a girl? What's your name?" Slayter asked, tilting his head slightly, his intense blue eyes looking over the features of the person who he thought to be a woman.

"Lia." Romeo answered, their tone hesitant and their eyes darting to the gun as they gave the name of the face that they were currently wearing.

Romeo was in some capacity, incredibly naive, and easily subjugated by the man who seemed to have much more will power than they did. Helping him to clear the shop as the two of them fled into the night,  all the while with a gun pointed to the back of their head.

Romeo found themselves rooted to a chair as the red headed man counted over the haul, anxious to leave as they fidgeted in the spot. As the goods were looked over an appraised, they could sense that the exchange was drawing to an end. Flinching as the man threw something onto the table, he propped himself up with his elbows, staring over them as he spoke up.

"That's yours."

Of course, compared to what he took, the bracelet he offered was a paltry amount of money. He kept the lion's share to himself. Romeo hesitantly reached out for it, their hands shaky as they sensed the man looking them over.

"Of course, you won't be able to trade or sell it easily any time soon since the haul's 'red hot'." The man said, giving a finger quote as he reclined back in his chair, tossing his feet onto the table as he kept his pistol in one hand. "Not without a fance anyways. You do know who to speak to, right?"

Romeo was still, before hesitantly answering that question by shaking their head.

The red headed man let out a chuckle, "Maybe it was meant for your wrist then." He then holstered the pistol, his expression shifting into something more amiable.

"Don't be afraid, why not speak up a little? Things were pretty bad back there,  I'm calm now and I don't really have a reason to hurt you." He placed a hand on his chest, both hands far from the weapon as he kept an open gesture. "I was right about you being a novice, wasn't I?"

"Y-yes, sir." Romeo answered, voice soft and wavering.

The man shifted in his chair, sitting properly before holding out a hand, "I'm Slayter, and if you'll let me, I might be able to help you. You know, to make up for holding a gun to your head."

Romeo was apprehensive at the time, but after a short contemplation they held out their hand and shook it.

Perhaps if Romeo had a larger friend network, there would have been someone who would have told them that returning to Slayter was a bad idea. However, Romeo's life style was largely transient, shifting from place to place, and shifting from face to face. Romeo, or Lia would meet Slayter again only a week later at an old and derelict building that might have once been a bar.

Slayter let them inside, grasping their wrist and placing a purse full of money in their hand.

"It's from the other night." he explained, a smirk on his face as he turned their hand to see that the bracelet was still on their wrist, "It's probably not what you're expecting, but as the supplier I don't get charge full price to sellers."

Romeo had low expectations going in, sort of prepared to step back and retreat if the man got too aggressive and violent. The fact that he was giving them anything throwing them off, the man backed off and chuckled as Romeo's eyes widened and they looked over the contents of the purse. In that moment Romeo considered taking on the offer for help, perhaps blinded by the allure of cash.

For the first few weeks their relationship seemed strictly professional, like a teacher and pupil. Slayter taught Romeo a lot of things, expressions and lexicon that only certain groups of thieves would know, subtle hints and signs interwoven into every day conversation that would hint only to those that were in the circle to important titbits of information. Slayter himself was pleasantly surprised to find that his new partner was a very quick learner. The more time the two of them spent together, the more it seemed like Slayter showed kinder and more subtle aspects of his personality. It wasn't long before the two held more personal discussions, a drunk Slayter letting slip information about how in the past his home life had been troubled, his words insinuated that he did not enjoy being an aggressor himself in the way that his father was.

For Romeo this was stressful, interesting but troubling, Romeo was young, not born into the world like a regular person but instead an apparition created with the intent to share pain. Though Romeo felt sympathy, drawn in, it was difficult to draw parallels. Romeo could only think about how they didn't feel like a whole and complete person, lacking the depth that this man that they were starting to know had, unable to display their emotions nor speak of a mother or father to call their own. Insecurities building up as all they could do was lie about their own life, vague recollections of life experiences of other people that they had only witnessed as an outsider, all pasted together to form some semblance of a background. Lia was the daughter of a woman who had died in childbirth, raised by a father who would eventually pass away as she was on the verge of adulthood, left alone without any siblings or family.

Romeo cringed as they watched the red haired man's expression soften a little with each word that they told him, the guilt making it just the slightest bit harder to breathe properly.

"But really, I'm pretty mundane." Romeo added quickly, trying to deflect the conversation away from themself, self depreciating at the same time as they added, "and I keep making mistakes all the time. I should really stop talking..." they then chuckled, "I don't want to be Lia with the verbal diarrhoea."

Slayter let out a huff, bringing a hand to the bridge of his nose and shaking his head, "That's a terrible mental image to paint." before he shifted, leaning over and throwing an arm over their shoulders, "but you're kind of mysterious and that's fun."

For Romeo there weren't a lot of ways to describe the pull or allure of him, he was certainly older and more adult than they were, and in life they had to figure things out for themself, not having the societal development or structure that most people had as a guideline. The kindness this man offered was taken at face value, drawing out the naivety in Lia/Romeo along with a sense of interest. The intimacy that someone else had to offer was a brand new experience, and Lia/Romeo was all too eager to return any sense of affection after being so socially unaware and isolated for the short time that they had been alive. For the first few months the relationship was alight with excitement, Slayter's fervent dedication and seeming desire to act as a gallant knight and protector both disarming and luring. It was enough to overlook the inherent aggression and gruffness that he treated the rest of the world with, traits that Lia/Romeo would not be able to identify well even after introspection. compounding this was the fact that Romeo really, truly started to identify as a woman, as Lia.

Slayter was fully Choleric in personality, leading through and through, full of promises and quickly building towards a future that he had in mind that he wanted to tailor for the both of them. At times, not consulting his partner with the decisions that he was making on their behalf, and Romeo not suspect at first as he slowly turned the relationship into his control. Small liberties and choices slowly taken away as Romeo's autonomy was pulled away from them like one would wind back a fishing line to draw in a fish. One minute he was generous, loving, the vision of happiness, and the next he was overbearing, not allowing his partner to socialise with others as they were kept close to his side. Lia/Romeo soon found that even the decision of what they were going to wear was something dictated by a partner who seemed afraid of the looks and attention that others would give. Though he was obviously very proud to be with his partner, there was a overlying level of smothering that became harder and harder to ignore.

Confrontation somehow always turning back on Lia/Romeo, somehow it was their fault even though they had no intention to look at anyone else. Romeo eventually found themselves questioning what kind of mistakes they had made as their partner's words became barbed, questioning which qualities of their personality were at fault. She began to doubt herself. She began to be filled with resentment with her partner, and eventually started to push to have her liberties. Romeo only wanted to be able to work again, and he found every fault with any avenue to meaningfully do something with her time and existence. Worse still, of the few friends she had, he would have a problem with most.

Slayter would be swaging a fresh set of bullets when his companion would approach him, complaining about how her liberties were being taken away from her. Perhaps it was because as time went by that the honeymoon period was starting to end, that he was starting to feel comfortable in asserting himself more and more.

At first he ignored her and set about his task, until she finally placed her hand on the table and with a deft motion she pushed the shells off the table. He looked quite shocked, this was out of character for Lia/Romeo but soon his expression seemed to change to a simmering anger. The ensuing argument grew heated, with their partner leaving their seat as the two of them started to bicker. slayter arguing that she had the freedom to leave as she pleased and that she could go just about whenever she liked, he however missed the fact that when she did leave it was often with him by her side. Without space the two of them were stifling each other, and her partner did not want to understand this. Worse still, was the building aggravation as he started to staunch up, slowly turning the conversation until somehow he argued that she didn't want to be seen with him. This turned the conversation on its head, but also increased her frustration, until she pushed out the only words that she could think of.

"Why are you treating me the way that you said your father treated your mother?" The words left her lips and the regret immediately set in. Watching as the anger in his face immediately dropped and shifted into hurt, before she could utter anything else his emotions exploded.

"You don't even know what he was like!" He shouted, pointing a finger at her as he grew all too intense for her to handle. She then flinched, fearful of the turn his emotions were taking.

"You literally don't know what you are talking about or what he's done to me!"

He then stepped back, recognising the way that his partner was shrinking away before silently grabbing his coat and leaving, slamming the door and walking out into the rain. At first she didn't follow, instead bending down to pick up the shells she had strewn across the floor, still angry and unable to think of the right way to communicate her distress. She wondered how long the pair of them would last like this, it wasn't like she wanted to let go.

When she out to find him, he was leaning against a building, using the doorway to shield himself from the wet. He was packing tobacco into a pipe, only stopping when he looked up to see her. His anger now a still silence that permeated the air, however, he was considerably more calm. He lit it, as she got to the doorway before moving just a little bit so that she could join him. He took a drag, before shrugging off his coat and offering it to her along with the pipe.

"You'll catch your death out here." He stated, and though she didn't move to take either he placed it over her shoulders.

"I'm sorry." She wasn't sure how exactly her grievances suddenly turned around like this, but at the moment she truly meant it. She wasn't happy to utter them, and deep down, she knew that she had a point that he just wasn't willing to see.

He let out a small dissatisfied grunt in response before going back to the pipe. "I'll live."

The pair eventually trudged back into the house, giving each other a wide berth for the next few days. Those days were agonising for Romeo/Lia, he was withdrawn and distant for a few days following the incident, something that was hard for her to tolerate. It was a stark difference, and she could only assume that this was happening through the fault of her own personality. She blamed herself as things slowly started to return to normal and Slayter began to reciprocate affection like he once did. And when he did, she could finally sense some relief. Though they were fervent and mad for each other, there would be tears in the relationship that she would have to work her hardest to keep patched up. For most people this might not have been worth it, some might have pointed out that one could not change a man so damaged and focused on the issues of his past, but it was not like she could imagine life without him anymore.

Everything was normal, everything fell into routine until a day he pulled her out of the house, it was only a walk but the conversation perhaps took an unusual turn.  For a while he started to talk about barn owls, going onto what she thought to be a tangent about how they mated for life and only with a single partner for life. She didn't think too much of it that evening, though the conversation eventually turned to the proposal of engagement. What he was trying to tell her was that he wanted to get married, and it finally clicked as those words left his mouth.

"I'm sorry I'm not really good with metaphors." He said, pulling a case from inside of a pocket.

She looked at it for a moment, "Is it ard?" she opened it to reveal a ring.

For a moment his face turned amused, before he placed a hand on his chest, "No. Wow. This is yours, there's only my partner. It wasn't made, though I had it made. It's proper. I mean, proper for what a man whose living is curbing the law can provide. I'll have you know it's real chunk o' gin."

He then looked at her with anticipation, "Well, do you like it?" he asked, eager to know what her answer was.

"Slayter, you're being so cute today." she replied, slipping the ring on and showing him how it looked on her hand, "Yes, of course I do."

Following the engagement, Romeo/Lia was surprised to find that things did not change very much from the norm. After all, they had been living together for months, and beyond a short celebratory period Slayter was forced to return to work. And though Romeo/Lia was also eager to contribute to the household, Slayter simply preferred that his partner didn't throw themselves into anything too hazardous and communicated that they should stay home.

It would be late into the year when Slayter propose moving homes, the suggestion was sudden, and Romeo/Lia wasn't keen. However, Slayter, who looked exhausted and irate, didn't really give all that much of a choice, telling her to pack what's important and to go. Immediately this began to set off alarms, and she questioned what the issue was. Slayter grimaced, telling her that he would explain later, before dragging her out of the house and locking up, guiding her to a pair of horses that he had readied and waiting for them. She wasn't given the time to dwell on it or think, her partner pushed her onto the horse before hopping onto his own and taking the reins, immediately taking off and leaving the fringes of the city to go to the country side. The ride itself was hours long, and he seemed too tired to sit properly as the ride drew longer, his posture started to slump as time continued, forcing Lia to lead the horses instead.

The place they went to seemed to be a bit of an old cottage, a little run down from lack of care or abandonment. When the pair of them stepped inside he simply threw his bags on the floor, not caring the for the thick layer of dust that was upturned.

"What is this place?" Lia/Romeo asked.

"I grew up here." Slayter was in the midst of cleaning out an old lamp, lighting it up and bringing a spot of light before he set it down. The walls were quite barren, the paint peeling, the old house would have been nice had it not been in such disrepair.

"We're staying here," Slayter turned to look at her, before moving to shut the dusty old curtains. "I've fucked up, so we had to hike, I'm sorry." Sweat collected on his brow, and he let out a hiss through his teeth.

Slayter proceeded to explain that after completing a job, he hadn't been paid, apparently the back stabbing client considered him a loose end. Slayter had barely gotten away when another group of men were sent to chase after him, as such he ran, escaping onto the streets in broad daylight, where he was safe for at least a while before attempting to lose his pursuers and return home. It was as the story ended that he peeled back his coat, revealing a haphazard bandaging job that he had done while she packed her things.

The wound itself didn't seem to be bleeding profusely, but it also wasn't healing very well. Though Romeo/Lia sought out a local doctor, the wound itself was taking on a putrid smell and Slayter was becoming consumed by a fever. As it turned out, the blade itself was likely contaminated for the specific purpose of creating an infection in case the initial blow did not kill. The following days were arduous, Slayter was bed ridden and as the fever increased in intensity, his right mind was gone. He was overtaken by pain and fever dreams/hallucinations, and not matter what she did, how she cleaned the wound, what kind of food she fed him, his condition continued to deteriorate. At times he was lucid enough to talk to her, at other times he seemed to be curled up in bed, whining and moaning in reaction to his dreams.

Slayter passed away one evening, leaving Romeo alone in that dusty old house, at the time so out of it that there wasn't much of a chance to say a proper good bye. Romeo had Slayter buried in his home town, only leaving the house to attend the burial before returning and stewing on what happened for a few days. Not wanting to let go, Romeo/Lia could only do the closest thing to being with their partner. On one morning, Romeo took up a horse and rode back into the city, their face now changed to the visage of Slayter. A grim determination on their expression as they went to seek out the people that did this to him. Prior to this, Romeo never really had a desire to kill anyone, but from this point they became determined and they wanted payback.

From what Slayter had told them, the client was running out of a manor in the northern part of London. Infiltrating the building wasn't difficult, Romeo assumed the form of a worker who they'd quietly killed and packed into an alleyway before entering the abode. Romeo took their time, getting to know the area and scoping it out before trying to kill anyone else.

"so, were you there when they stabbed that redheaded hit man?" she inquired, asking one of the thugs.

"Yeah." The man replied, leaning back in his chair as he seemed to rest in one of the break rooms.

Romeo wasn't thinking when they approached the man from behind, using the male form they assumed to lock their arm around the man's neck. They quietly, but angrily demanded the name of the person who did it and once they got what they wanted they bent the man's neck over the back of the chair. It wasn't a clean kill, and though it sent a pang of pity through her, she wasn't about to go back. The following week the denizens in the manor were filled with terror as they were each picked off one by one, with Romeo taking one form, killing someone and then switching to a new form. Romeo didn't do so much as leave a warning, or indication as to why they were killing anyone so they had no explanation and could only guess. The owner of the manor tried to flee, but Romeo merely followed with the contingent of men he had hired to watch his back.

"I'm back." Romeo said, wearing Slayter's face as their stone cold expression looked over the man who had caused all of this. Walking into the room and withdrawing a dagger from their bandolier. The man looked shocked to see Slayter still alive, immediately begging for mercy as Romeo's face remained unmoving and distant to his pleas. They merely rushed the man, the first strike of their dagger didn't hit home, digging into the bone of their breast as Romeo ferociously plunged it in again and again until the blade itself bent and snapped.

As Romeo recovered from that moment of anger, they dropped the blade onto the ground. There wasn't much of a sense of satisfaction as they watched the man's life fade away, they felt somewhat dissatisfied, still enraged, and mostly just empty. Their stomach seemed to twist, leaving the scene bloody and feeling troubled. And yet, they knew that the man who had actually done the deed and killed Slayter was still out there. Romeo had killed the head of the whole ordeal, but the man who had acted as his blade wasn't part of his contingent, but another sell sword just like Slayter. The only thing that they knew about them was that they went by the name of Janis.

Romeo would move from location to location, speaking cant with whoever would listen to see if they could pick up any leads.

It would be after this time that Romeo, wearing the face of Slayter, would run into Callum Beaumont whilst drinking away their anxieties and worries. After a short discussion, introduction and shouting each other some drinks, the pair set out on nightlong pub crawl that ended with both of them on the side of the curb in the morning, confused as to where they were, with a pounding headache, and not knowing as to how the goat that was currently chewing on their hair and possessions came to be part of the whole situation.

The social interaction was unexpected, and something that Romeo did not realised that they had been desperately needing for a very long time. Though their time with Beaumont was brief, they had grown somewhat fond of him and considered their relationship bordering on friendship. Whilst they were looking for leads, they found themselves visiting the man every so often just for the sake of having something somewhat normal to do. They were even more  impressed when they discovered that he already knew how to speak in cant. However, as good as this new connection seemed, Romeo was not trusting enough to let them know who or what they truly were. As such, Callum would come to know them as Slayter instead of Romeo, Callum would come to know them as a hit man and thief, which was not far from the truth by this point. Romeo never intended to settle into this role for long, but given the circumstances, and what this meant to them, it simply started to feel right.

It would be one day that Romeo would come to Callum and bid their drinking buddy goodbye, having found some news that they thought to be important to finding the person that they were looking for. Romeo was very brief about what they were doing, insinuating in cant that they had to chase someone down and 'have a chat with them'. As such, after letting Callum know that they'd be back for another round of drinks, they decided to depart for a few months to follow the lead.

Tracking down another hitman was much more difficult than waltzing into a manor and systematically slaughtering the owner and thugs, especially so since the grapevine let the other man know that Romeo/Slayter had been looking for them. It seemed that the other individual was moving cautiously, and after passing cash between a few hands and shifting between forms, they were able to learn that the man had fled from the city.

The chase took an extended period of time, the more they looked, the more it seemed this other man burrowed himself deeper into hiding. At times Romeo would arrive on scene, only to discover that they'd missed them days or even hours before. The frustration was mounting, and Romeo found themselves truly filled with a livid anger that wasn't normal for them. Their thoughts were frenetic, they had to find them.

Interestingly, while the other hitman was near impossible to track, it would be his partner, Loren who was easier to find. She wasn't a thief or a hitman, and Romeo only had to link the two to find the person who would anchor their target to a location long enough. Tracking this woman down was considerably much easier, and Romeo figured that all they would have to do was subdue and replace her and wait. It wasn't very moral, but at this point Romeo ignored the voice nagging them in the back of their head as they climbed through the window to the house that she was in, Slayter's frame lent itself well to Romeo as they scuffled with this woman and shut them into the basement.

Romeo was dressed as Loren when the confrontation began, catching the man of guard as they approached them. Greeting them as any person would, lying and telling them they missed them, walking to the man as if they were about to embrace them.

This man, Janis, let out a pained grunt as Romeo pushed a dagger into his stomach, in the exact place that he had stabbed the real Slayter months before. Romeo could see the shock behind his eyes, catching hints of betrayal and sadness as he thought that his partner had turned on him for no good reason. He pushed back Romeo's smaller frame, his expression seemed to be asking why as Romeo took a further step back and returned to the form of Slayter.

Romeo let out a howl as they charged the confused man, who put up an unexpectedly good fight despite his wounds. Added to this was the fact that Romeo's mind was going mad with the anger of it all, Romeo screaming about how they took Slayter from them, their movements frenetic and frantic as their slashes grew wild. They didn't really care about themselves all that much as they brought each jab of the dagger forward.

Once the fight concluded, Romeo dragged his half dead body through the house and brought it to the basement. Opening the door before dragging him down the flight of stairs. Freeing the woman who had been waiting down there, terrified, Romeo didn't say anything as she rushed to bloodied and beaten man. The only small gesture of mercy Romeo afforded them was a chance to a proper goodbye.

Romeo wasn't in the best of shape either, and didn't dare to look at the woman, instead uttering a, "I am ready to die if you want to hunt me and kill me."

Romeo then ascended the steps, vanishing from sight. Perhaps they could empathise with the woman, or perhaps they were just tired, they didn't want to think too deeply on it as they started to make their way back to London.

As they stepped outside and the fresh night air rushed them, the only thought that crossed their mind was how they never told Slayter the fact about owls that he had neglected to mention. Apparently, barn owls sometimes died of grief after the loss of their mate.
