yeah I was lining the sketch and I didn't have your picture open, so I ended up drawing the nemes i usually draw for him. I can edit it if you'd like.
I kinda get carried away when I do Egyptian god drawings.
Oh man, do it! I'd love to see more Anubis.

Well, depends really. In my stories storyline, he uses it for magic stuff.
In the original mythos, it's supposed to represent the staff a shepherd would have for their flocks of sheep. Anubis is the god of the Dead, but he's not the Ruler of the Underworld, that's Osiris. Anubis actually guides the dead through the Egyptian Purgatory known as the Duat, he's Lord of the Duat. He leads then to the Hall of Ma'at (Ma'at is equivalent to our modern concept of Truth) This is where he does the Judging of the Heart. Though the Egyptians also believed in magic, so I'm sure Anubis also performed rituals such as the Mummification ritual and the staff was used for the spells and incantations he would have put on the body.

That's very interesting! ^^ Its interesting learning about myths and such, they make for great stories. I already knew some of what you told me, but you did reveal some new info I hadn't yet known about. This may come in handy for the old fanfic MDT and I were working on... Btw, I read somewhere that Anubis was replaced in his role sometime in Egyptian history, was that true?
The reason I ask is because, in the fanfic MDT and I were working on, I had used that as part of the background we were going to use for Anubis: that he was replaced, which angered him and caused him to rebel, only to be punished by having a small statue that looked like him created, and any mortal who held the statue would be able to control Anubis. In order to escape this punishment, Anubis created a temple around the statue, a temple that would disappear for a thousand years, reappear for one day, and then disappear again.
A greedy archaeologist discovers the legend, realizes the temple will appear during his life, and manages to track the temple down. Meanwhile, the Road Rovers, who're searching for some canomutants in the area, follow them in, and... well, don't want to give too much away. xD
Also, your idea of Anubis performing the Mummification ritual makes me think of an idea I had earlier today: I imagined a scenario where somebody casts a quick spell on Anubis so that a long white cloth wraps itself around his mouth, and he's unable to tear it off.

Yes Originally Anubis was the Ruler of the Afterlife, but his role was taken by Osiris once the New Kingdom started. In fact, his whole story was altered. Originally, he was a son of Ra, and was given the role of the God of the Dead and Afterlife. This version of him took care of the afterlife and the Duat. However, the New Kingdom revamped his WHOOOOLLLLEEE backstory. In the New Kingdom version of Anubis, which is also the most accepted Canon to the Mythos, (Egyptian Mythology is weird when it comes to canon) Anubis was actually born between Nephthys and Osiris. She couldn't have a son with Set, cause he was unable to have kids, so she disguised herself as Isis and did it with Osiris. She gets pregnant with our precious boy and has him far away from where Set was, as Set would have killed them both. Now, here's where the canon once again forks. In one version, Nephthys abandons Anubis in the wild and Isis finds him and takes him back home with her, however, the accepted canon says that Nephthys in fearing Set's rath gives Isis and Osiris Anubis to raise as their own. Which they do, and he's a good son. This, however, due to him being a bastard child, makes him unworthy of ruling the afterlife. This allows Osiris, once he is cut into 14 pieces by Set, (god of chaos and....Chopped. I bet he watches chopped), This allows him to take the role of Ruler of the Afterlife. Anubis is left being the Guide, and kinda ruler of the Duat. Though, once Osiris is killed and cut into 14 pieces, (I still think Set is a chopped fan, don't be surprised if you visit him and he's making some dinner from weird ingredients.) but once Osiris is dead, Anubis actually does the first Mummification ritual. This is where he's given the title of God of Mummification.
Oh nice!! I would love to read it sometime!!!
