Chapter 3: First Day of Class

Today, Prince Ash enjoys a Sunday afternoon exploring more of the academy with his five roommates Ritchie, Brendan, Cameron, Barry and Calem. Right now, he’s engaged in a 1 on 1 battle against Barry in the academy’s stadium while the others watch.

“Alright Hitmonlee, use Blaze kick!” Barry commanded.
Hitmonlee charged at his opponent as one of his feet becomes surrounded in flames.
“Pikachu, dodge and use Iron Tail!” Ash called out.
“Pika!” the electric mouse acknowledged as he avoids Hitmonlee’s burning foot. His tail then glow silvery white as he strikes Hitmonlee. The impact made Hitmonlee lose his balance and fall on his back.
“Alright, let’s wrap this up with Electro Ball!” Ash said.
Pikachu becomes surrounded in yellow electricity and multiple sparks come off his body. All the electricity then condenses at his tail and forms into an orb of electricity before he jumps into the air.
“Uh-oh, this is bad!” Barry exclaimed. “Hitmonlee, do something!”
But it was too late. Pikachu does a front flip and throws the orb at Hitmonlee. The orb hits the Kicking Pokémon at full force causing a small explosion. The dust clears and shows Hitmonlee with spirals in his eyes.
“Hitmonlee is unable to battle.” Called the referee. “Pikachu wins and the victory goes to Ash Ketchum!”
"Alright we did it!” Ash cheered at his victory.
“Pi-Pikachu!” Pikachu cheered as well.
“You did great Hitmonlee. Go ahead and take a load off. Return.” Barry said as he called Hitmonlee back into his orange Pokégem before facing his roommate. “Well Ash, you win this one. Your Pikachu is really something.” He complimented.
“Thanks and your Hitmonlee was strong too.” Said Ash. “Maybe he’ll win next time.”
“Sure. And you better challenge me to another battle sometime or I’ll fine you!” Barry demanded.
“Sounds good.” Ash said with a chuckle.

The others then approached Ash and Barry.

“Well Ash, that’s another victory for you.” Said Calem. “First you beat my Chesnaught with your Muk, now you beat Barry. You’ve got some strong Pokémon with ya.”
“Thanks, but don’t forget that Brendan beat my Honedge with his Swampert. And he didn’t even Mega Evolve.” Ash reminded.
“True.” The said roommate agreed. “But Honedge was still strong. Maybe he’ll win next time.
“Well, I don’t know about you guys, but I think I’ve had enough of battles for one day.” Said Cameron.
“Ar arre.” Riolu barked.
“Yeah, me too.” Ritchie said before suggesting, ”Whaddya say we relax for the rest of the day? Besides, we’re gonna have to turn in early tonight since classes start tomorrow.”
“Pika.” Sparky agreed.”
“Good idea, Ritchie.” Ash said. “Maybe we can battle some other time.”
And with that, the group left the stadium to enjoy the rest of the afternoon.

A while later, the boys are now chatting by a fountain at a courtyard with other students going on about their. Prince Ash was just finishing up telling them the tale of his adventure in the hidden world within the mountains back home where he caught his Aerodactyl.

“Because Charizard had a sprained wing, I had to use Aerodactyl to fly me and Pikachu out of the mountains. You should’ve seen the look on everyone’s faces when they saw him up close.” He said with a chuckle.
“I’ll bet they probably had the same expression as we did yesterday.” Ritchie figured.
“To think that a whole bunch of extinct Pokémon are alive and in a hidden world within some mountains.” Said Calem.
“I’ve read about those kinds of Pokémon when I was a little. I didn’t think it would be even possible for any of them to still be around.” Said Ritchie.
“So Ash, are you excited for the first day of class tomorrow?” asked Barry deciding to change the subject.
“You bet.” The prince answered with enthusiasm. “I’m excited to start learning about becoming a Pokémon Sorcerer. I just wonder which teachers I’ll be starting with tomorrow.”
“I heard that a noticeboard will appear in our dorm room tonight and it should have our class schedules posted.” Said Barry.
“And I heard that our Pokémon are not allowed out of their Pokégems during class.” Mentioned Brendan. “Apparently, we're only allowed to either keep them inside the Pokégems, leave the Pokégems in our dorms or even let the Pokémon roam around the grounds and have some fun while we’re in class. Just so long as they don’t cause any trouble.”
“Gee, that’s too bad.” Ash said with slight disappointment. “Pikachu and I usually go everywhere together.”
“Pikachu.” The mouse said.
“Yeah. The same goes for me and Sparky.” Agreed Ritchie.
“And me and Riolu.” Added Cameron.
“Well, we’ll just have to make the best of it.” Said Calem.
“Calem’s right.” Ash agreed. “I’m sure our Pokémon will be able to have some fun while we’re in class.”

The boys continued to chat when all of a sudden…

“OUTTA THE WAY! OUTTA THE WAY! OUTTA THE WAAAAYYYYYY!!!”

The group turned to see a blonde girl wearing an orange and white dress and a green hat running towards their direction without control. The boys grew nervous as the girl speeds closer.

“Look out!” Calem yelled as he and the others attempted to dodge a collision.

Though Calem, Brendan, Ritchie, Sparky, Cameron, Riolu and Barry were able to avoid collision, it was however too late for Prince Ash and Pikachu. The girl collided with them so hard, they were knocked right into the fountain with a splash attracting the attention of some of the other students in the courtyard.

“Ash! Pikachu! Are you guys okay?” Ritchie asked in concern.
“Pika pika!” Sparky squeaked.
“Yeah, I’m okay. Drenched, but okay.” Ash glumly replied as he sat soaking wet in the fountain.
“Pika.” Pikachu mumbled before he left the fountain and shook himself dry.
“Ahhh!!!” the girl yelled before she came in front of Ash and started bowed up and down repeatedly. “I’m sorry! So sorry! So sorry! So sorry!
“It’s alright. But you should be careful where you’re going. What’s your hurry anyway?”
“I… I… I don’t know!” the girl exclaimed, unable to think of a reason for her sudden rush.
“Well, never mind.” The prince said before stepping out of the fountain. “I’m Ash by the way.”
“Oh yeah! You’re that prince everybody’s talking about. Nice to meet you. I’m Bianca.”
“Same to you, Bianca.” Ash said. Pikachu then hopped onto his trainer’s head. “And this is my partner Pikachu.”
“Pika!” the mouse happily greeted.
“Well, it was nice meeting you Ash. I’ll see you in class. Bye!." Said Bianca before leaving the group.
"Well Ash, I guess you took your bath before we even went back to our dorms.” Barry joked.
“Ha ha. Very funny.” Ash said sarcastically.

Later that evening, after drying himself and filling their stomachs from all the food at dinner with the rest of the students, Ash and his friends are now walking down the halls of the academy to their dorms.

“Boy, after eating all that food for dinner, I’ll soon be ready for a good night’s sleep.” declared Barry.
“Yeah, me too.” Agreed Cameron. “I hope we’ll sleep well tonight. We’re gonna need it for class tomorrow.”
“Relax, Cameron. I’m sure we’ll all be ready.” Ash assured with determination.
“You sure are confident Ash” Brendan commented.
“Why shouldn’t I be?“ Ash replied. “I mean, tomorrow's our first day to learn to become Pokémon Sorcerers. I’m gonna give it my all to learn everything I can.”
“You took the words right out of my mouth, Ash. I’m gonna give it my all too.” Ritchie said with equal determination.
That’s the spirit, Ritchie.” Ash said with a smile.
“Well, I’ll see you guys back in the dorm in a bit.” Said Ricthie.“Sparky and I are heading for the library to look up something really quick.”
“Okay, Ritchie. We’ll see you later.” Said Brendan. And with that, Ritchie and Sparky left the group and off to his destination

Suddenly, Pikachu’s ears perked up as he heard something. He leapt off Ash’s shoulder and ran on ahead.

“Pikachu? Where are you going?” Ash asked as he and the others ran after Pikachu.
“Pika-pi pikachu!” the mouse squeaked as he ran.
“Slow down, Pikachu!” called Cameron.
“Yeah, what’s going on anyway?” asked Calem.

Pikachu continued running ahead of the group as he approached a right turn at the end of the hall. Just then, a Minccino with a red ribbon in its left ear appeared coming around the corner, and Pikachu crashed right into it.

“It’s a Minccino!” said Barry as he and the others gasped at the accidental collision.
“Minnccino cino! Cino minccino minccino!” the Chinchilla Pokemon angrily complained as it pointed an accusing finger at Pikachu.
“Sorry about that.” Ash said as he picked up Minccino and patted its head. “I hope you’re okay.”
“Oh no!” sounded a girl’s voice.
The group tuned to see a teenage girl with pink hair tied in ponytails and wearing a white dress with red stripes.
“Did my Minccino hurt your little Pikachu?” She asked in concern.
“Pikachu’s fine.” Ash assured. “Aren’t ya, buddy?”
“Pika pika.” Pikachu happily said showing that there are no hard feelings.
“Well aren’t you just an adorable little thing?” the girl cooed as she picked up Pikachu. “It looks like you have a little bump on your head. Well I have just the thing for that!” The girl then planted a tender kiss on Pikachu’s forehead.
“Chaaaaa!” Pikachu squealed in delight.
Ash smiled at Pikachu making a new friend. He was glad that Sir Brock wasn’t here to see this. Knowing him, he would purposely bang his head on a wall and ask for a kiss himself.
As Pikachu went back to Ash, the girl recognized him.
“Hey, aren’t you that Prince Ash who sat next to Headmaster Sycamore at the Welcoming Feast the other night?” she asked
“Yup, that’s me.” The prince confirmed.
“Wow, what an honor.” Said the girl. “My name is Whitney. I’m one of the teachers here the academy specializing in Normal type spells.”
“Really? Wow, that sounds great.” Ash said with enthusiasm. “I’m really looking forward to learn from you.”
“Sidney told me how you’re such an enthusiastic kid.” Whitney giggled. “Thanks for tending to my Minccino for me by the way. She seems to like you!”
Indeed, MInccino squeaked in delight at Ash’s kindness as she licked Ash’s face in affection, making him smile.
“My pleasure." Said Ash before handing Minccino back to Whitney and Pikachu leapt back to Ash's shoulder.
“Well, I’ll see you guys later.” Said Whitney as she left.
“Bye.” Said the boys.

The group then continued their way to their dorm tower. Once they’ve reached their dorm, they see a noticeboard inside just as Ritchie said earlier along with stacks of books and class supplies in each of their bedrooms.

“It looks like this tells us what classes are we having tomorrow.” Cameron pondered as he inspected the board. The others gathered around the board to see what classes they’ll have. Ash inspected the board and learns that tomorrow he’ll have Fire, Dragon, Electric and Fighting. Ash smiled at the types of classes he’s assigned. Though he won't have Normal, Grass or Dark class tomorrow, he isn’t disappointed at all. He knows that he’ll get those classes learn from Whitney, Gardenia and Sidney another day. All that matters right now are the ones the he’ll have tomorrow.

“So Ash, what do you have?” Asked Cameron.
"I’ve got Fire, Dragon, Electric and Fighting class." The prince replied. “What about you?”
“I got Poison, Water, Bug and Dark class.” Cameron replied.
“I have Flying, Bug with Cameron, Ground and Steel.” Said Brendan.
“I’m with Ash in Fire, then I have Rock, Ghost and Grass.” Said Calem.
“And I have Psychic, Rock with Calem, Dark and Ice.” Said Barry.
Just then, Ritchie and Sparky entered the room.
“Hey guys.” He greeted. “I’m back. What’s going on?”
“We’re reading what classes we’ve got for tomorrow.” Informed Brendan.
“Really? Let me see.” Ritchie said as he joined the others. After reading from the board, he told them the results.
“Looks like I’ve got Poison with Cameron, Normal on my own, Elecric with Ash and Steel with Brendan.” He said.

In conclusion, Ash has Fire class with Calem, Dragon on his own, Electric with Ritchie and Fighting on his own as well. Nevertheless, Ash is really looking forward for tomorrow morning.

“So I guess all that stuff in our rooms must be our class essentials.” pondered Barry.
“Looks that way.” Said Brendan.
“Well guys, now that we’re all set for tomorrow, I guess there’s nothing left to do but turn in now.” The prince suggested.
“Ash is right. Let’s all go to bed.” Agreed Calem.
“Well, goodnight guys.” Said Ash as he and Pikachu head off to their room.
“Goodnight.” The others replied.

Later, as everybody slept in their beds, Prince Ash had a hard time sleeping from his excitement for tomorrow.

“Ugh, I can’t sleep.” He said quietly so as to not wake the others. He did however, woke Pikachu.
“Pika?” Pikachu weakly mumbled as he rubbed his eye.
“I’m sorry if I woke ya up, buddy. “ Ash said. “It’s just that… I’m just so excited."
“Pikachu, Pikapi.” The mouse squeaked with a smile.
"I wonder what it’s like, being a Pokémon Sorcerer." Said Ash. “I know I’ll find out once I learn in class. But I’m just so excited to start learning, I just cant sleep a wink. I remember when I was little, I’ve always dreamed of being able to do things like a Pokémon. Breathe fire, ice, make gusts of wind and even more. Now that I’m here, I’ll be able to make that dream real. I’ll have a lot to learn, but I know that I’ll be a great sorcerer if I work hard and believe in myself. Just like I believe in you and the other Pokémon whenever we train or battle.”
“Chu." Pikachu said while giving his trainer his full support.
“I’m sorry that you can’t come with me in class buddy. But rules are rules. You think you and the others will be ok and have some fun while I’m in class?”
“Pika.” Pikachu nodded with confidence.
“Good. I knew I could count on you. Just make sure you guys don’t get into any trouble. Thanks for always there for me, Pikachu. You’re the best.”
“Pikachu.” The mouse silently squealed as he sniggled closer to Ash.
“Well, goodnight buddy.” Ash said with a yawn before finally closing his eyes and slept soundly with his partner by his side.

“BONG... BONG... BONG... BONG...”

The sound of bells from the academy’s clock tower rang at sunrise the next morning, scaring all the Flying types away from the tower and waking everyone from their slumber in the process. Ash wakes up to the noise feeling refreshed and ready for his first day.

“Alright! The first day of class!” he said with enthusiasm as he stretched his arms.

Pikachu then woke feeling refreshed as well and ready for a day of fun with the other Pokémon. As the two got themselves ready for the day, they heard a knock on the door.

“Hey Ash, are you up yet?" sounded the voice of Cameron.
“I sure am.” Ash replied. “I’m just gonna brush and get dressed.”
“Well don’t take too long.” Said Cameron. “You don’t wanna miss out on breakfast before class, do ya?”
“Not a chance!” Ash said with a chuckle.

After brushing his teeth and quickly getting dressed, Ash collected the four books he needed for today and enters the main room where the others are waiting for him.
“About time, Ash!” Barry complained while holding his pocket watch. “Another minute and I would’ve fined you for making us wait this long!”
“Relax, Barry.” Said Calem. “It’s only been six minutes since Cameron checked on him.”
“Exactly!” Barry exclaimed.
“Well, I don’t know about you guys, but I’m starving!” said Ash. “Let’s head to the great hall, have our breakfast and drop our Pokémon off somewhere so they can have fun before we head to our classrooms.
“Yeah, let’s go.” Ritchie agreed.

As the boys arrived at the great hall, they see the rest of the other students arriving for breakfast as well. Most of them were ready for the day while others were still yawning and rubbing the sleep that remained in their eyes. Ash, Brendan and Barry munched down on their food like the gluttons they are while the others ate at a much slower pace. Once they’ve finished eating, they made their way towards one of the courtyards. Ash, Ritchie and Cameron let loose their Pokémon while the others decided to leave their Pokégems back in their rooms. Ash decided to have Aerodactyl remain inside the Pokégem so as not to cause a scare.

“Now I want you guys to have some fun while I’m in class alright? Just don’t get yourselves into any trouble.” He informed them. The Pokémon all cried out in in reply, promising their trainer that they’ll be on their best behavior.
“Good. Now I’ll see you guys later.” He said before leaving his Pokémon and into the halls for his first class.

Ash walked through the student filled halls of the academy on his own until Calem joined him.
“Hey, Ash.” He greeted. “Can’t wait to get to class, huh?”
“You bet.” He replied. “I wonder what kind of teacher we’ll get for our Fire class.”
“I heard there are multiple teachers for each class. We get a different one each time we have a class.” Said Calem.
“So you’re saying that the next time we have a Fire class, we'll get a different teacher?” asked the prince.
“Exactly.” Calem confirmed.
“Well, let’s just focus on getting to our classroom before we’re late.” Ash suggested. “How much time do we have left anyway?”
“BONG… BONG… BONG… BONG...” rang the bells of the clock tower.
“I’d say about ten minutes.” Figured Calem.

Ash and Calem continued down the halls and corridors of the academy until at last, they’ve reached their destination.

“Whew. Made it.” Calem said as he breathed a sigh of relief.
“And with only five minutes to spare.” Added Ash. As they made their way inside the room, they were impressed with the décor.

The room was filled with red trimming and lit torches and braziers hanging along the walls around the room. Hanging from the ceiling was an even larger lit brazier serving like a chandelier. There were desks that filled the room and several of them were already seated with other classmates. At the front of the room was a blackboard with a teacher’s desk with the fire symbol drawn on it.

Ash and Calem sat in their desks and waited. It wasn’t long until the rest of their classmates arrived and took their seats as well. As they continued waiting, Ash then heard a familiar voice from behind.

“Hi, Ash!”

The prince turned to see Macy sitting right behind him with a bright smile.
“Hey, Macy!” he greeted the girl. “So you’ve got fire class with me, huh?”
“Yup!” she replied. “I’m really really excited to learn fire spells!”
“Sounds to me like you love Fire, huh?” Ash asked..
“You better believe it!” She replied with much enthusiasm. "Give me the heat and the passion of a Fire type over a boring old Water type any day!”
“I… see.” Ash said with a sweat drop. He could clearly imagine that Macy would not get along at all with one of his handmaidens Misty back home should the two ever meet.

Before the conversation could even continue, a large burst of fire suddenly erupted with a roar in front of the class without warning, startling them and causing a few to scream in surprise. The fire was about the size of a human being as it blazed bright and heating the entire room. It then began to swirl around fast in a cyclone formation. Everyone was amazed at how the fire would just spin around like that at such great speed. The cyclone soon subsided to reveal a smirking man inside.

Ash recognized him as one of the people who sat at the staff table in the great hall. He had large, fiery red curly hair, wearing a yellow tunic, black pants and sandals. His smirk never left his face as he faced the students in front of him before he spoke.

“Good morning, everyone! My name's Flint and I’ll be one of you teachers in Fire spells.” He greeted with pride.
“Good morning, Flint.” The class said back to the teacher.
‘Flint, huh?’ Ash thought to himself. ‘Quite a coincidence. Sir Brock’s dad has the same name.’
“Ah. And I see that I’m starting my day with Prince Ash Ketchum in my class today.” Flint said as he eyed the young man and approached him.
Ash chuckled nervously and scratched his cheek as he felt all the eyes of his classmates watching him. Macy however giggled.
“Yeah. Nice to meet you.” He said as he held out his hand.
“The same to you.” Flint said as he accepted the handshake. “Now that introductions have been made, let’s begin.”
The class brought out their books and utensils and were finally ready for Flint’s lecture.

As Flint explained the basics about Fire spells, Ash paid very close attention to every bit of detail. Flint explained the fire is energy and life and not destruction like some people would consider. Ash wrote every bit detail he considered important while listening closely to the lecture.

(An hour later)

“So basically, Fire sorcery is like having the sun, but inside of you, right?” Ash asked with a raised hand.
“Correct.” Flint responded as he pulled out a Tamato berry from his desk. “And once you’ve mastered it like I did,” The class gasped as the see Flint actually took a bite out of the berry. They quickly ducked beneath their desks before the effects could kick in.

“You’ll become one with the fire.” He finished as nothing happened at all. The students were amazed that Flint didn’t suffer from the effects of the berry. No fire breathing in pain. Not even burned lips. Ash and his classmates truly couldn’t wait to learn fire spells or any other types of sorcery that’s in store for them.

“BONG… BONG… BONG… BONG...” the clock tower rang, signaling the end of the first period.

The students left the classroom and back into the crowded halls.
“See ya later, Ash.” Said Calem.
“Have fun in Rock class.” He replied.
“Bye, Ash!” Macy said with a flirtatious wink. “I’m off to Fairy class.”
“Have fun, Macy.” Ash said, not noticing her flirt before making his way for his second class.

Ash made his way to another section of the academy where he arrived at the classroom for his next class, Dragon, where it was lightly dimmer and had statues of Dragon type Pokémon on the shelves. There were also small frames with portraits of Dragon Pokémon on the walls.

Along with his classmates, there was also a woman with blue hair tied into a ponytail and wearing a blue bodysuit, matching gloves, boots and a black and red cape. Ash figured that she must be his teacher. Once all the desks were filled, the woman stood from her desk and introduced herself.

“Hello, everyone.” She kindly said. “My name is Clair and I’ll be your Dragon teacher for today.”

Like before, Ash paid very close attention to Clair’s lecture about the history of Dragon spells. He was amazed at how old the art was and few people were able to learn such a talent in those days. Clair also informed him that it was HER Dragonite who delivered the letter of his invitation back home. The more he listened to Clair, the more interested he became to learn spells with the rest of the classes in the academy. He mentally chuckled at the thought of Iris being extremely upset at missing out on the chance to learn more about the topic being the Dragon type lover she is.

(An hour later.)

The bells rang and the students left for their third period of the day. As Ash made his way to meet up with Ritchie for their Electric class. His thoughts were on his Pokemon.

‘I wonder how Pikachu and the others are doing’ He thought. ‘I hope they’re doing okay.’

Meanwhile in town, Pikachu was scurrying along the sidewalks as he enjoys his day. He checked on the others and they’ve also been enjoying their day as well. Some of them like Charizard, Krookodile and Snorlax would be either taking naps or sunbathing, while others like Lucario, Buizel and Sceptile would be practicing their moves and others like, Totodile, Scraggy and Leavanny would be playing with other Pokémon.

As Pikachu strolled through town, something caught his eye all of a sudden. He saw a quick familiar blur of red running through an alley to his left.

“What was that?” he pondered to himself. “Wasn’t that…”
“Hey Pikachu!” A voice called.
Pikachu turned to see Oshawott running towards him.
“Oh, hey there, Oshawott.” He greeted his friend. “What’s up?"
“Just strolling around like you are.” Said the Sea Otter Pokémon. “Actually, a student’s Golem told me that they’re serving some delicious Pokémon food back at the academy. I thought I might find you and see if you would like to join me for lunch.”
Pikachu didn’t answer however as he looked at the alley.
“Something wrong?” asked Oshawott.
“Huh? Oh! N-Nothing!” Pikachu stuttered. “I thought I saw something over there. Must’ve been my imagination. And yeah, lunch sounds good to me.”
“Great!” Oshawott cheered. “Let’s go!”
As the two began their way back to the academy, Pikachu began to wonder.
‘For a second there, I thought that was Magby of the Pichu Posse.’ He thought. ‘I wonder if they must’ve… Naahh! They couldn’t have!’

Meanwhile in a forest nearby, Hawlucha was practicing his Karate Chop attacks on a tree branch. It snapped from the tree and fell to the ground just as Hawlucha landed.

“Muy bueno!” He complimented to himself. “My attacks are becoming even powerful. It is thanks to Señor Ash and his training that I am getting stronger by the day.”

Just as he was about to continue is self-training, a mysterious glow from the other side of the tree suddenly caught his attention. Hawlucha went around the tree to investigate.

“Que es eso?” He wondered as he inspected the source of the glow.

Sitting at the base of the tree was a lavender colored, oval-shaped object with purple markings in the shape of what appears to be large teardrops. The object was giving of a faint glow. Hawlucha picked it up and immediately knew what it is.

“A Pokémon egg!” he said in amazement. “Que fantastico! I better show this to mis amigos y compadres.” He then left the forest and began his way back to the academy with the egg carefully secured in his wings.

Back at the academy, we now find Prince Ash and his classmates are standing in the school’s stadium for their Fighting class and waiting for their teacher to arrive. Ash was rubbing his seat, which felt a little bit sore after that sudden surprise from the start of his Electric class.

(Flashback)

Ash, Ritchie and Angie, who had Electric class as well, were standing in a strange empty room with the rest of their classmates. The room didn’t appear to be like a classroom at all.

“Strange, I thought this room would be like the other classrooms. Not an entire room of nothing.” Commented Angie.
“Ash, are you sure this is the right place?” Ritchie asked.
“Positive.” The prince replied to his roommate. “I took the tour of campus when I came and this was the room where one of the Electric classes are held.”
“Maybe we were supposed to be in another room.” Guessed a boy.
“But the noticeboard in my dorm room says that this room is where I’m supposed to be.” A girl said.
“Mine too.” Added another classmate.
“This is getting really bizarre.” Said Ash.

Suddenly, the floor beneath their feet slid open like trapdoors and the class screamed as they fell. They all landed on their seats to what appears to be a slide. Ash and his classmates slid down through many twists and turns on this crazy slide within the academy.

“Welcome, my students!” boomed a man’s voice. “To a class where fun never ends!”

The students soon separated as the slide splits into multiple slides all occupied by one person. The slides then sloped downward where they appear to end at multiple sources of light and they fell in. The class landed hard on their seats in another room where this time is looked more like a classroom than the other. It looked sort of similar like the fire classroom only that the trimming was painted yellow instead of red and amazingly, the braziers were enchanted with sparks of electricity. The class were now seated in their desks and standing in front of his desk was a short, chubby old man with white hair that stand up, a white beard, wearing sandals and a brownish thunder cloud tunic over his yellow jumpsuit.

“Hello there, kids! My name is Wattson and I’ll be your electric teacher today!” he greeted with a thunderous laugh. The students rubbed their rears as they felt sore from that sudden surprise ride.

The experience of the slide reminded Ash of that slide he and Pikachu went on within the mountains back home. He had to admit though, it was a pretty fun ride and he learned a lot from Wattson. Despite all that, it still didn’t change the fact that his seat still felt a little bit sore. That however wasn’t his main problem right now. A loud growl can be heard from his stomach as the prince clenched it with a frown.

“It just isn’t fair.” He complained. “Here we are waiting for our teacher to come and start our last class of the day and everybody else is having their lunch. I’m starving!”
“You and me both, Ash.” Agreed a blonde girl wearing a white and red dress, matching boots, gloves and black shorts underneath her skirt. The girl introduced herself to he prince the other day as Korrina and he was amazed when he sees that she has Keystone in her left glove and is capable of Mega evolving her Lucario.

As the class stood in the stadium, the doors suddenly banged open and out came a man fighting a Machoke much to everyone’s shock. The man was barefoot, shirtless and wearing red karate pants with a black belt. He had dark brown hair with sideburns and a large mustache.

“You’ve defended yourself well, Machoke.” He said to the Superpower Pokémon. “Now let’s try switching to offence!”
“Choke!” Machoke acknowledged as it charged towards the man and launches several attacks while the man dodges.
“C’mon! Is that all ya got?!” he asked in a challenging manner.
The Machoke then landed a successful Karate Chop against the man’s chest, making him wince in pain.
“Ugh! That was a nice Karate Chop!” he said. “Alright! Let’s see ya try a Submission attack!”
Machoke charges once more, flips and catches the man’s head with its legs. They roll around the battlefield, holding each other in a full-body hold while the students watch in shock and amazement. Finally, Machoke throws the man across the battlefield and he lands hard on the ground. The students ran towards the man to check on his condition.

“Are you alright, sir?” Ash asked in concern.
“What were you thinking taking on a Machoke like that?” added Korrina.
The man stood on his knees as he recovers from the attack.
“I’m just… I’M JUST SO PROUD OF THAT MACHOKE!!!” He exclaimed as tears fell from his eyes. “That Submission attack was absolutely perfect! You hear me?! Perfect!”
“Choke!” Machoke nodded wihile tearing up as well as it and towards the man and embraced him.
“I’m so pleased with your progress!” he praised. ”You’ve come such a long way, Machoke!”
“Machoke ma!”Machoke replied.

The students stared at the man and his Machoke as they hugged each other. Most of them were sweat dropping while Ash simply smiled at the bond between those two. That was when he decided to talk to the man.

“Um... excuse me, sir, but you wouldn’t happen to be our teacher for this class, are you?” he asked.
“You are correct, kid!” he replied as he broke from the hug with his Machoke. “I’m one of the leanest, meanest, toughest, roughest Fighting Pokémon Sorcerers in the world! But you can call me Chuck.”

Throughout the hour Chuck taught his class the introduction of Fighting spells. He lectured to them that all spells come from inner strength. Like his other three classes, Ash paid extra attention to Chuck’s words.

“Alright! Lecture's over, kids! Now get up and march! To the great hall! Double time!” he ordered.
“Huh?!” the class replied in confusion.
“Hup, two, three, four! Hup, two, three, four!”Chuck chanted.
“Ma choke! Ma choke!” Machoke mimicked.
“If ya wanna learn to be a Pokémon Sorcerer, start marching to the great hall! Move those legs! Get those knees up in the air!” he commanded to his class.
The students then did what they were told and started marching.
“Alright, lets move em out! Hup, two, three, four! Hup, two, three, four!" He chanted as he led his class out of the stadium.
“Hup, two, three, four! Hup two, three, four!” the class repeated as they followed.

The class then marched all their way to the great hall where they see Machoke waiting for them.
“Where’s Chuck?” Korrina wondered.
They then heard heavy breathing from behind and see Chuck marching at a much slower pace and panting.
“What’s the matter?” He panted. “You kids are out of shape or something?”

After catching his breath, Chuck lead his class to the empty great hall where they took their seats at one of the tables. Chuck then clapped his hands and bowls with enoumous piles and mounds of food appeared out of thin air in front of their eyes. Ash was not only amazed like his classmates, but also happy that he finally gets to eat.

“Finally, lunchtime!” he said in relief.
“And so much more than that, Ash!” said Chuck.
“What do you mean?” Questioned a student.
“This is not only lunch, but also Pokémon Power Food!” Chuck informed. “A nutritious meal, designed not only to strengthen people, but even Pokémon as well. Remember my lecture back the stadium, class. Training is everything when it comes to learning about Fighting spells and the same goes for the rest of the classes here. Understand?”
“Yes sir!” the class acknowledged.
“And now we eat! Eat! Eat! So we can be strong indeed! Once you’re done, you’re dismissed!” he said with pride.
“Well you don’t have to tell me twice when it comes to food!” Ash said as he began to chow down on his long awaited lunch.
“That’s the spirit, Ash!” Chuck complimented. “For a prince, you have quite a fighter’s appetite! I like that! Just eat, then chew, and eat some more, then chew some more then eat!”

The class ate until there was nothing left and they left the great hall to finally enjoy their afternoon now that the first day of class is finally done. After saying goodbye to Chuck, Korrina and the rest of his classmates, Ash made his way out of the academy grounds to see if he could find Pikachu, any of his other Pokémon or one of his roommates.

Ash then came to a nearby field close to the academy, where most of the students are enjoying their afternoon. He sees his roommates with some of their Pokémon nearby and approaches them.

“Hey, guys.” He greeted.
“Hey Ash, where were you?” asked Brendan. ”You didn’t show up for lunch.”
Ash then explained about his Pokémon Power Food session he had with his Fighting class and how much he enjoyed the whole thing.
“Sounds to me like you’ve had quite an enjoyable first day.” Figured Cameron.
“Arre.” Agreed Riolu.
“Sure did.” Replied Ash. “Though it sure wasn’t much fun going down that slide in Electric class.”
“Tell me about it.” Added Ritchie. “That whole stunt really took me by surprise.”
“Pika,” said Sparky.
“So Ash, how are you going to call all of you Pokémon to you?” questioned Calem. “They could be scattered anywhere on the island.”
“No problem.” Ash said as pulled out a silver whistle from his satchel. “I’ll use this and they’ll all come running over here. Just watch."

Ash inhaled before he pressed his lips against the whistle and exhaled. Unfortunately, it didn’t make a sound.

“Uh... Ash? I think it’s broken.” Cameron chuckled nervously.
“Oh no, it works just fine.” The prince calmly replied. “The whistle makes a sound frequency so high that only Pokémon can hear. And when mine hear it, they all know that I’m calling them.”
“Are you sure it really works?” questioned Ritchie.
“Just wait and see.” Ash said with confidence.

Nothing seemed to happen for the next two minutes. Just then, the ground began to rumble and a cloud of dust appeared over the horizon alerting the attention of the other students in the field and just as the prince figured, the dust was none other than a stampede of his own Pokémon. Leading the stampede were Pikachu and Bayleef as they charged towards their trainer.

“Hey, everybody!” he called with a wave.
Pikachu was the first to meet up with Ash as he leapt into the air and right into Ash’s arms.
“Pikapi!” he squeaked as he hugged the prince.
“Pikachu!” Ash greeted. “Did ya have a nice time?”
“Pikachu!” the mouse happily replied.
Bayleef was the second to reach the prince, but she didn’t even slow down.
“Bsyleef, wait! Don’t- OOF!!!” The prince grunted when Bayleef collided with him with so much force, she knocked him to the ground and pinned him.
“Bay bay!” Bayleef squealed as she began to sweetly nuzzle her face against Ash’s in affection.
‘Ha ha! Yeah I know! I know you missed me, Bayleef!” Ash laughed.

Once the rest of his Pokémon arrived, Ash recalled them all back into his Pokégem. Just then, he realized that someone was missing.

“Wait a minute, where’s Hawlucha?” he questioned.
Pika.” Pikachu shrugged.
“Oh well, I’m sure he’ll show up soon. Maybe he’s out training in the forest nearby.”
“So Ash, now that class is over, how about we head for the stadium for a battle?” suggested Ritchie.
“You got it!” Ash smirked.

Before Ash could even get up on his feet…

“Lucha lucha!”

The boys turned to see Hawlucha at the base of a nearby tree carrying something.

Hawlucha!” Ash called as he got up and made his way towards the tree with his roommates in tow.

“There you are, Hawlucha.” He said to the Wrestling Pokémon. “I was wondering what happened to you. Where were ya?”
“Hawlucha lucha.” Hawlucha replied as he showed the object in his arms.
“What’s that he’s holding?” asked Barry.
Hawlucha handed the object to Ash and the group slowly began to realize what it is.
“I don’t believe it!” gasped Calem.
“Is that what I think it is?” pondered a wide-eyed Brendan.
“It must be.” Said Ritchie.
“It’s… It’s a… It’s a…” stammered Barry.
“A… P-P-P.” stuttered Cameron.
“A Pokémon egg!” Ash exclaimed.

Ash shouted so loud, that he alerted the attention of the other students in the area, including Melody, Giselle, Macy, Angie, Anabel and Bianca, who had just arrived at the field. The students gathered around Ash to see the lavender egg in his arms. All of them were so amazed at the incredible find, that they became excited as to see what kind of Pokémon would hatch out of it.

“Where did you find this?” He questioned to Hawlucha.
“Lucha.” He replied while pointing to the right.
“In the forest?” Asked Ritchie.
Hawlucha nodded and looked back at the egg.
“So what are you going to do with it, Ash?” Asked Barry.
Before Ash could respond, the egg began to glow. Even brighter than it did when Hawlucha found it.

“It’s glowing!” exclaimed Cameron.
That means its about to hatch!” added Giselle.
“What do I do?!” Ash panicked. Then an idea popped into his head. “Hey, I know! Fletchinder, come on out!”

Ash brought his Pokégem back out and called out Fletchinder.
“Fletchinder, can you use your Flame Body to help keep the egg warm while it hatches?” he asked.
“Fletch fletch!” the Ember Pokémon acknowledged as he spreads his wings open. His body then starts glowing red and orange, giving off a warm temperature. Fletchinder then approaches Ash and the egg and embraces it gently.
“Pikapi!” Pikachu squeaked as he hugged the egg as well.
“You wanna help keeping the egg warm, buddy? Thanks!” said Ash.
Soon, Hawlucha, Sparky and Riolu then joined in helping out with the egg. The students watched in anticipation as they waited for the miracle to happen.

Suddenly, cracking sounds were heard from the egg as it glows even brighter. Then a sudden movement from the egg caused the Pokémon to fall on their seats while the prince still clutched the egg. Brighter and brighter the egg glowed until finally it dimmed and revealed the newborn Pokémon.

It was a lavender bat-like Pokémon with two clawed fingers on each wing and two long toes on each foot. Its hips and chest are covered in black fur and has two purple teardrop-shaped spots on the front of its face as well as large teardrop-shaped ears.

“Wow, a Noibat!” Ash said with a smile.
“Pika!” Pikachu squeaked in excitement.
“AWWWWW!!!” all the girls cooed and squealed at the sight of the newly hatched Noibat while the boys smiled.
Noibat gave out a yawn, revealing two pointed teeth in its lower jaw. Then, Noibat’s eyelids fluttered and they slowly opened to reveal its big and round yellow eyes. As it opened its eyes, Ash was the very first thing it saw.

“Hi.” He greeted with a warm and kind smile while Pikachu jumped onto Ash’s shoulder.
“Noi?” Noibat squeaked as it blinked and tilted its head.
“Welcome to the world, little guy. My name's Ash and this is Pikachu."
“Pika Pikachu!” Pikachu greeted.

Noibat turned its head to check its surroundings. It sees the other Pokémon as they made their introductions. Then it sees the humans as the boys playfully greeted the baby Pokémon with smiles and waves while most of the girls were squealing and many were even making baby noises and puckering their lips as if kissing. Bianca especially, since she picked up Noibat and gave it a hug.

“AWWWWW!!! You are just the cutest, most adorable little thing!!!” she exclaimed with hearts in her eyes. The other girls agreed as they surrounded Noibat in Bianca’s arms.

Noibat grew frightened by the all these people just staring at it. Finally tears flowed from its eyes and…

“NOOOOOIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!”

It screeched so loud, everybody had to cover their ears from the noise.
“That’s Noibat’s Supersonic!” yelled Angie.
“And a very powerful one too!” added Melody.
“It’s alright, Noibat!” Bianca said while attempting to calm it down by repeatedly kissing its head and rocking it in her arms. “Auntie Bianca is here to rock you to sleep!”

Though Noibat quieted down for a moment, it used Supersonic even louder than before. Ash finally stood up and took Noibat back into his possession.

“It’s ok, Noibat!“ He yelled in assurance. “You don’t have to cry!” He then began to gently stroke Noibat’s ears and it seemed to do the trick as Noibat finally calmed down and appears to be enjoying having it’s ears being petted.
“Hey, it stopped.” Said Giselle.
“Do you think petting it helped?“ pondered Macy.
“I don’t think so.“ Said Calem. “Maybe there’s more to it than that.”
“I think I know why.“ said Ash. ”Back home, I read that when a Pokémon hatches out of its egg, it is imprinted with the first thing it sees."
“That’s right.” Ritchie said with realization. “When Noibat hatched, Ash was the first thing it saw.”
“So that means...” started Anabel.
“It means that Noibat thinks I’m its dad.” Ash concluded with a smile as he continues stroking Noibat. "There there. Everything’s alright.”
“Wow, who would’ve thought.” Said Brendan
“Lucky!” commented Bianca
“Normally, I would’ve fined that Noibat for making my ears hurt with its Supersonic." Said Barry. "But since it’s only a baby, I’ll make an exception."
“So Noibat, do you wanna come with me?” Ash asked to the Sound Wave Pokemon.
“Noi! Noibat!” Noibat replied in happiness as it hugged its new trainer/father.
“Great! Welcome to the family, Noibat!” Ash praised before capturing it in his Pokégem.

That night, after enjoying dinner and feeding his Pokémon along with his new Noibat, Ash was in his sleepwear as he sat in his desk in his dorm room writing his first letter for home before he goes to bed. As he finished, he checked it over as it said,

Dear Kanto,

How’s everything? Me, Pikachu and the rest of my Pokémon are doing great here at the academy. I’ve already made a lot of new friends here, including my roommates, Ritchie, Barry, Cameron, Calem and Brendan.

I’ve just gone through my first day of class. Though I haven’t learned any spells yet, I’ve been learning a lot from my teachers and I’m confident that I’ll learn my first spells one of these days. I've also caught a Noibat that hatched out of its egg on my first day. The little guy was a bit scared at first, but I managed to calm it down. I really can’t wait to train my new friend.

I really miss all of you. I hope you are all doing well and I’ll write again soon.

Ash then stamped the finished letter with the royal seal of his kingdom and placed it in an envelope. He then brought out his shiny Noctowl form the Pokémon.

“Hey, Noctowl, you don’t mind if you fly back home and deliver this letter to everyone, do you?"
Noctowl happily chirped saying that it’ll be more than happy to deliver the letter.
“Thanks Noctowl, I knew I could count on you.” Ash thanked as he placed the letter in a capsule with a strap and placed it on the Owl Pokémon. “Be careful out there and get plenty of rest once you’re back at the kingdom before you come back with their reply. Okay?"
Noctowl chirped in acknowledgement, willing to do as the prince says.

Ash then approached his window and pushed it open.
“Good luck and be careful.” He wished to his friend.

Noctowl then flew out of the tower and into the night skies over the island. Ash watched as Notcowl flew west away from the island and disappears into the dark horizon.

Not only did Ash experience his first day as a student of the academy, but he also made a new friend. Though he may have a long way to go to become a Pokémon Sorcerer; nothing will stand in the way of the Kanto Prince.
