Prologue 2: Secret Of The Mountains & The Letter

Two weeks have passed since Prince Ash has captured Honedge and already the two of them have become good friends as well as the rest of Ash’s Pokémon. On days when Ash has sword practice, Honedge proves to be quite a sparring partner. They would train together in sword fighting while the knights and guards watch in interest. On days of regular Pokémon training, Honedge would spar with the other Pokémon. Especially with Pikachu, and Frogadier, who Honedge really enjoys clashing his blade against Pikachu’s Iron Tail, and Frogadier’s Aerial Ace.

Today, we find the prince traversing along the frozen terrain of the mountaintops. He and Pikachu have been passing through the many caves and tunnels of the mountains since dawn along with Sir Brock and Sir Drew before they arrived at the snowy landscape. While they have seen many of the Pokémon that live in the mountains, Pokémon sightseeing is not what they came for.

“Sir Brock, remind me why we’re here again.” Drew said, wearing a thick coat like the others.
“We’re here because the market is running low on evolutionary stones and most of the miners’ Pokémon have a head cold so they asked us for help” Sir Brock explained.
“Right, so how much more stones do we need?” asked Drew.
“We just need some Sun Stones, Water Stones, Moon Stones and we’re done. I can’t wait to get these back to the shopkeeper.” Said Brock as he held up a bag of the stones they’ve collected.
“You just want to het these back to him so you could ask his daughter out as a reward.” Drew said with a sly smile, earning some laughs from Prince Ash and Pikachu.
“Exactly! If we get the job done, I’m sure his beautiful daughter will be more than happy to spend the day with me!” Brock said with his usual love-struck face.
“Well, I just wanna get back so I can train Sceptile today. I wanna see if I can try to teach him Frenzy Plant.” Ash said.
“Pikachu.” Pikachu agreed.
“And I have an evening planned with May tonight. She’s been really looking forward to it all week.” Added Drew.
“Well let’s just focus on the task at hand, and then we can go home.” Brock reminded.
“Right.” Ash and Drew said, as they continued along the snow-covered mountain pass.

At around two in the afternoon, they left the pass and are now exiting a tunnel in a different area of the mountains with their quarry nearly done. Snow began to fall from the sky, and several Ice types appeared.  The group admired at the sight of the Ice types going on about their business.

“Boy it’s a good thing Iris isn’t here with us right now.” Ash said.
“Yeah." Drew agreed. ”Knowing her and her fear of Ice types, she’s bound to scream and maybe cause an avalanche.”
“She’s only afraid of Ice types because they’re very strong against Dragon types. And you know how much she loves Dragon types.” Brock reminded.
“Yeah I know. But you've got to admit, it’s kind of ridiculous of how she’s afraid of even a cute Ice Type Pokémon like a Cubchoo, or a Swinub.” Said Ash.
“Anyways, we’re almost done. All we need are the Moon Stones and that’s it.” Said Brock.
“That’s not gonna be easy.” Drew said. “Everyone knows that Moon Stones are the hardest stones to find around here. Even the miners know that.
“Aw come on," Ash said placing a hand on the knight’s shoulder "I’m sure we’ll find a few around somewhere.”
“I guess so.” Drew said. “Lets just hope we find them before sundown. I wanna get to May for our night together. And besides, it’s very dangerous to be around in the snow at night.”
“Yeah I know." Said Ash "And from the looks of things, I’d say a blizzard will pass over the mountains tonight. Though it doesn’t look like the Ice types will be complaining.”

Indeed, the Ice Pokémon seemed pretty excited about the upcoming blizzard. The Vanillite are floating around in circles with excitement in their faces. A few Snover and a Cryogonal seemed excited as well as they decided to join the Vanillite in the fun.

“Well let’s hurry and try to find some Moon stones before sundown. Come on.” Said Brock.

Just as they were about to move on, Pikachu’s ears perked up all of a sudden. He jumped off of the prince’s shoulder, and ran a short distance away from the trio.

“Pikachu? What’s wrong?” asked Ash.
Pikachu turns his head left and right in confusion as he checked his surroundings. He thought he heard a faint noise in the distance, but it was only for a moment.
“You hear something Pikachu? Ash asked.
“Pika Pikachu.” Said the mouse as he turned to his trainer. With a shrug, Pikachu decided that it must’ve been the wind.
“I guess Pikachu thought he heard a noise we couldn’t.” Sir Brock guessed.
“Well Pokémon can hear things that we humans can’t you know.” Ash said.
“Well come on.” Sir Drew said. “The sooner we find those Moon Stones, the sooner we can-, huh?" Drew couldn’t complete his sentence, for he suddenly felt a jiggle in his pocket. He pulls out and enlarges his emerald Pokégem, which is mysteriously shaking and vibrating. The group was completely confused at what the Pokégem was doing.
“What’s going on with your Pokégem Drew?” Brock asked.
“Only one way to find out.” Drew said as he threw the Pokégem in the air.

It opened, and the light forms into a quadruped, mammalian Pokémon with a dark blue to gray body covered in white fur. It has a ruff around its neck and chest and a tuft on the top of its head adorned with a single blue-black oval. It has a feline face with almond-shaped, red eyes, a scythe-like tail, and a sickle-shaped horn on the side of its head. Its broad feet are equipped with three claws each, and spikes protrude from the heels of its hind legs and the elbows of its front legs. It was also wearing a pendant embedded with its Blue, Silver, and white Mega Stone.

“Absol, what’s wrong?” Drew asked.
“Absol sol sol Absol.” Absol said with a grim serious face that everyone knows.
“If Absol has that look on his face, that only means one thing.” Brock said.
“A natural disaster is about to happen.” The prince concluded with an equal amount of seriousness on his face.

Suddenly, as if on queue, the ground begins to rumble, and cracks appear on the ground. The ice types fled to safety as the rumbling slowly became violent, and rocks begin to fall from the higher from the cliffs above.

“Earthquake!!!” Sir Brock shouted.
“We have to get out of here!” Drew exclaimed as he calls back his Absol.
Pikachu was about to run with the others, when all of a sudden, the ground begins to open up a crevice beneath his feet Pikachu couldn’t get away in time as he begins to lose his balance.
“PIKACHU!” Prince Ash screamed in fear as he sees the situation Pikachu was in.
With all the strength his legs could muster, he sprinted towards Pikachu who was on the brink of losing his balance.
“Sire no!” Brock shouted but the prince ignored the knight as he lunged himself over the crevice.

As he got close to Pikachu he wrapped his arms around the electric mouse just as he lost his footing and was beginning to fall. Though Ash saved Pikachu, it was too late to save them both as Ash didn’t reach the other side of the crevice and fell down with Pikachu in his arms.

“PRINCE ASH!!!” Brock and Drew screamed as they watched in horror as their friend fell down the crevice and disappeared into the darkness below.

Down, down, down they fell. Ash shut his eyes tight as he held Pikachu tightly. All he had on his mind was making sure Pikachu wouldn’t get hurt at all. He doesn’t even care if he breaks his arm or leg. All he cared for was Pikachu’s safety like he cares for the rest of his Pokémon and his friends. Suddenly, he hit on something smooth and slanted. They stopped falling down, now they started sliding down. Prince Ash and Pikachu screamed as they slid down deeper and deeper into the mountains. Finally they stopped and they were both very relieved to be alive.

“Pikachu, are you all right?” Ash asked in concern.
“Pikapi!” Pikachu said as he hugged Ash, happy that he was all right.
“Thank Arceus.” He sighed in relief as he hugged Pikachu back.
Ash then took a look at his surroundings. They are sitting in what appears to be a dark cave with stalactites hanging on the ceiling above. The rumblings have already stopped, which means the earthquake is over. As Ash and Pikachu looked around they suddenly heard a voice coming from the hole behind them.
“Ash! Ash!” Echoed the voice of Sir Brock.
“We’re all right!” Ash shouted towards the tunnel.
“Thank Arceus! You brought Charizard with us, can you use him to fly back up?” asked Brock.
“No. It’s too small for him to fit through, and I don’t think we can climb out either.” Ash called back.
“Hang in there your majesty, we’re coming down after you.” Said Brock
“No don’t! Then we’ll all be trapped down here." warned Ash.
“Well, stay down there until we could think up a way to get you both out.” Sounded the voice of Sir Drew.
"We’re fine.” Ash assured. “Besides, I have Pikachu and Charizard with me. We’ll find another way out.”
“Well, we’ll be standing by if you need us.” Said Brock.
“Wait, I think I see something.” Said Ash as he looked to the wall in front of him. “It looks like a… a tunnel! You guys go on ahead without us, and we'll check this out. This tunnel has to lead somewhere.”
“Are you sure your majesty?” asked Drew
“Yes.” Ash reassured.
“Alright, but be careful down there.“ Said Brock.
“We will.” Ash promised, and then faced Pikachu. “All right Pikachu, whaddya say we find out where this leads?” he asked.
“Pikachu!” the little mouse happily replied as he jumped onto Ash’s shoulder. And with that, the two entered the tunnel to Arceus knows where.

They traveled through the tunnel for what seemed like an hour. The tunnel twisted left and right many times in one single path without any crossroads. Surprisingly, there were no signs of any Pokémon at all anywhere. They didn’t even see any Zubat, Woobat or Noibat hanging from the ceiling sound asleep. The deeper they traveled, the darker it got. Ash figured that the tunnel is big enough for him to use Charizard. He then dug into his satchel and brought out his Pokégem.

“Charizard, come on out!” he called out as the Pokégem opened up, and out came his faithful and powerful Charizard wearing a metal collar with a Mega Stone that was Red, Orange and Yellow in color.
“Rargh!“ Charizard growled, as he appeared ready for an adventure with his partner.
“Charizard, lead the way.” Ash said.
“Rargh.” Charizard replied and using the light from the fire on Charizard’s tail as he held it in front of him, they continued down the tunnel.

They continued down deeper and deeper into the tunnel and still they haven’t seen any Pokémon at all. Prince Ash was beginning to suspect if the tunnel would lead to a dead end. Soon, they reached a sharp turn left and what they saw amazed them.

“Well will you look at that?” Ash said in amazement at where they entered. Pikachu, and Charizard couldn’t agree more with their trainer, as their expressions were mutual.

They were standing at the entrance of a large chamber filled with glittering gems of all shapes, sizes, and colors. The walls were covered with Gold, Silver, Crystals, Rubies, Sapphires, Emeralds, Diamonds and others.  The path seems to continue down the chamber and to the delight of the trio, there’s a faint light at the far end, along with the hint of fresh air. At about halfway down the path, the gems on the walls soon were replaced with Evolutionary Stones. The walls were now filled with Fire Stones, Water Stones, Leaf Stones, Thunder Stones, Shiny Stones, Dusk Stones, Dawn Stones, Sun Stones and…

“Moon Stones!” Ash said in excitement as they see vast amounts of Moon Stones on the walls.
Though Ash doesn’t have a pickaxe, he has something even better.
“Ok Pikachu, use Iron Tail on the walls with the Moon Stones and pry them out!” He commanded.
Pikachu understood, and his tail soon begins to glow silver. He then uses his tail as both a pickaxe, and a crowbar to pry out the Moon Stones they need, while being very careful not touching the Thunder Stones that were next to some of them. There were far more than enough Moon Stones on the walls to fill their quota.

“Well, I think we have enough Moon Stones for today guys, lets just stop and get outta here huh?” Ash asked his Pokémon.
“Pika.” Pikachu agreed.
“Rargh.” Charizard growled in agreement as well.
“I can’t wait to tell everyone back at the castle about what we found. Maybe they won’t believe us.” Ash chuckled.

Ash was about to start walking down the path when something caught his eye on his left. One part of the wall was heavily cracked and didn’t have any Evolutionary Stones at all, but there was something sparkling behind the cracks. Curious, Ash decided to take a closer look. Unfortunately, the cracks made it impossible for him to see clearly through.

“Pikachu, do you mind using Iron Tail once more to break this rock please?” he politely asked.
“Pikachu!” Pikachu happily obliged, and he uses his Iron Tail to smash the cracked wall into pieces.
Ash then reached his arm all the way into the hole and felt something round. With a firm grip he pulled as hard as he could and brought out the object.

It looked like a large marble of some sort. It looked like it was made out of glass. The marble was greyish purple in color and upon further inspection, there seemed to be a twisting S-shaped symbol within it. It had violet, dark grey and black stripes in it. Prince Ash immediately knew what it is, but of which kind, he didn’t.

“A Mega Stone!” he said in excitement. “I can’t believe we’d find one here. I just wish I knew what kind of Mega Stone this is. I’ve never seen one like this before, and I’ve studied on all Mega Stones. This must be a new kind of Mega Stone!” Pikachu and Charizard were both amazed and happy at their trainer's discovery.
“All right! I found a new Mega Stone!” Prince Ash exclaimed as he held up his new Mega Stone in victory.
“Pi-Pikachu!” Pikachu cheered along with Charizard, who growled in delight.
“Well, come on guys. Let’s get outta here.” Suggested the prince as they started walking towards the light at the end of the tunnel.

At last, they reached the end of the tunnel, but it didn’t lead them out just yet. What they are seeing now is a sight that is far more amazing than the chamber behind them. Their eyes widen in shock and amazement at the sight they are seeing as they gasped. Prince Ash could only breathe one word at what he was seeing.

“Impossible!”

They are standing on a cliff that stands over a large jungle, with rivers, lakes and waterfalls. The jungle was completely surrounded by rocky walls that reach all the way up to the sky that covers the jungle like a ceiling. A large hole in the dead center of the ceiling shows the sky from outside and it was still daytime. The hole was large enough for a large Flying type like Charizard to fly out. Ash, Pikachu and Charizard just couldn’t keep their eyes away from the fantastic sight as they kept on staring at this hidden paradise within the mountains. Though they could now escape and go home easily by flying out of the hole in the ceiling, Ash knew there was no way he’d miss up the chance to explore this hidden world. He then faced Charizard.

“Charizard, I think you should take a rest for now.” He said. “We’ll let you know when we need you to fly us outta here later, okay?”
“Rarrggh.” The Flame Pokémon acknowledged.
“In that case, return.” And Charizard was sent back inside the Pokégem.
“Well Pikachu, whaddya say we go down there and check this place out huh, buddy?” He asked Pikachu.
“Pika Pikachu!” Pikachu agreed, and they took the path to their right that lead down and they begin their exploration of the hidden world.

They were amazed at the whole place as they traversed through the jungle. They passed through some vegetation that are never seen in the kingdom. When he was younger, Ash did a lot of studying and tutoring on Pokémon and the world at the library back in Pallet Castle, and he could’ve sworn that some of the plants they are seeing now match the ones he remembers reading about in his childhood. The bizarre thing is… these certain plants should be long extinct. The further they traveled through the jungle, the more they see plants that should be extinct.

They soon found themselves on the top of a small hill overlooking a valley with a lake and what they saw within the valley increases their shock of the day.

The valley is filled with Pokémon, but not just any kind of Pokémon. These were the long extinct Fossil Pokémon that Ash read all about in his books. Ash had to rub his eyes and even slap himself in the face to make sure he’s not dreaming. Amazingly, he isn’t. He couldn’t believe that he’s seeing the amazing Fossil Pokémon that are supposed to have been extinct for millions of years. Yet here he was with Pikachu, staring at a bustling field of Lileep, and Cradilly swaying in the grass, Armaldo walking around, Cranidos and Rampardos playing by headbutting each other with their thick skulls, Shieldon polishing their facial hide by rubbing them against the nearby trees as their Bastiodon parents happily watch while they eat berries, Archen trying to learn how to fly while being taught by their Archeops parents, Tyrunt trying to roar loudly with Tyrantrum, and Amaura roaming around with Aurous. The lake was also filled with Omanyte, Omastar, Tirtouga and Kabuto swimming in the water, while Kabutops, Anorith and Carracosta are relaxing on the lakeshore.

As Prince Ash and Pikachu walked down the valley, the Pokémon took notice of them and to their surprise, they don’t seem to mind them being in their presence. In fact, most of them happily waved hello to which they happily waved back. A Bastiodon even shared two of its spare berries to the new visitors.

“Thank you.” Ash said with a smile as he accepts the berries.

Suddenly, they heard a very loud and terrifying screech. The noise seemed to scare nearly all of the Pokémon as they ran away to hide from whatever made that screech. Even the Tyrantrum ran away, not because they were afraid, but because they want to protect their young. Ash and Pikachu were now all alone in the field.

"Where did everybody go?" The prince wondered. "And what was that noise?”
“Pika?” Pikachu replied in confusion as he turned his head to find the source of the noise. He then noticed something on one the cliffs.
“Pi? Pika! Pikapi!” he squeaked as his face turned from curious to frightened and pointed to what he was looking at.
Ash looked at Pikachu and turned his head to where Pikachu was pointing. A pair of menacing eyes was glowing inside a cave on one of the cliffs as a large figure emerged.

It was a large, grey, reptilian Pokémon with large, violet wings. Its ears are sharply pointed and its snout is ridged. The wings consist of a membrane running from the side of the body to the tip of an elongated finger. It has a hump-like ridge on its back, an arrow-tipped tail that looks strong and talon-like feet.

“AAAEERRROOOOO!!!!” It screeched as it spreads its wings and reveals its many sharp serrated teeth on the lower jaw of its gaping mouth.
“An Aerodactyl!” Ash exclaimed as Aerodactyl stared at the duo.
It then leapt from the cliff and started flying towards them preparing an attack. Its mouth then fired a dark purple beam of energy right at them. Ash yelled as he and Pikachu dodged Aerodactyl’s Hyper Beam and Aerodactyl flew over their heads.

“I don’t think this Aerodactyl is happy we’re here.” Ash said as Aerodactyl turned around and prepared for another attack run.
This time it flew towards Pikachu and opens its gaping mouth.
“Pikachu, watch out!” Ash shouted.
Pikachu jumped to his left and narrowly missed being Aerodactyl’s dinner.
“Quick Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!”
Pikachu then fired a jolt of electricity from his body and it hit Aerodactyl as it screeched in pain. Though it did great damage, Aerodactyl isn’t going down that easily as it turned and flew towards Pikachu at an even faster speed and a great amount of anger in its eyes.
“Here it comes again!” Ash yelled.
Once more, Pikachu dodged just as Aerodactyl’s jaws snapped shut.
“Use Electro Ball!” Ash ordered, and a yellow orb of electricity began to grow on Pikachu’s tail. Pikachu then jumps into the air and does a front flip, throwing the orb. Unfortunately, Aerodactyl was flying too fast and the Electro Ball missed.
'If Aerodactyl is flying with that kind of speed, Pikachu will have a really tough time hitting it with his attacks.' The prince thought. 'Better switch to Plan B.' He then called out to Pikachu. “Pikachu, Aerodactyl is just too fast for your attacks! You better come back!”
“Pika.” Pikachu acknowledged knowing he can’t argue with that, and he ran back to his trainer. Ash then brought out his Pokégem.
“Go, Charizard!” he called out as he threw it.
“RRRRAAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!” Charizard roared as he came out, ready for action. He then sees Aerodactyl and immediately understood the situation as he stared at the Fossil Pokémon. Aerodactyl took notice of Charizard and is now staring back. As both Pokémon glared at each other, their faces darkened as they clenched their teeth. Ash knew that Charizard is just dying to fight Aerodactyl right away and vice versa.
“Careful, Charizard. Aerodactyl is very tough and really fast. It'll do anything to defeat you so watch out.” Ash warned. Charizard turned his head towards Ash, gave out a thumbs up and took to the air towards his opponent.
“All right. Charizard, use Flamethrower! Ash called, and Charizard lets loose a stream of fire right at Aerodactyl.
Aeordactyl easily dodged the flames and fired its Hyper Beam at Charizard. Charizard dived down to avoid the attack.
“Charizard, use Slash! Lets go!” Ash ordered.
Charizard then flew straight towards Aerodactyl as his claws began to glow white and grow longer. He then slashed Aerodactyl who howled in pain. Aerodactyl’s teeth then began to glow white and it delivered a powerful Crunch attack on Charizard’s body causing him to roar in pain.
“Hang in there, Charizard!” Ash shouted.
“Pika Pika Pikachu!” Pikachu shouted as well, rooting for his friend.
“Use Dragon Tail!” Ash called.
A light blue glow spreads up on Charizard’s tail, until the whole tail glows light blue. Charizard then swings his tail in an attempt to hit Aerodactyl. Unfortunatly he missed and to everyone’s surprise, Aerodactyl’s fangs began glow yellow and sparks of electricity surround them. It tried to bite Charizard, but he narrowly dodged the attack.
“That was Thunder Fang!” Ash said in amazement.
“Pika!” Said Pikachu.
Aerodactyl’s fangs began to glow again only this time they glow red and flames surround them. Again it tries to bite, and again Charizard dodges.
“Now Fire Fang!” Said Ash “What else can this Aerodactyl do?”
Aerodactyl answered his question when his fangs glow once more only now, they glow light blue and turn into ice. Again, Charizard avoided the bite.
"This time it's Ice Fang!" Ash said.

As Charizard and Aerodactyl continued to battle fiercely in the air, Prince Ash couldn’t help but be amazed at the Fossil Pokémon’s moves.
'This Aerodactyl's full of surprises. But so are we!' He thought with a confident look on his face. He then looked at his Mega ring on his left wrist and came up with only one solution.
“Desperate times calls for desperate measures.” He said to himself.
Pikachu saw the serious expression on the prince’s face and immediately understood what is going to happen next.
“Hey, Charizard!” Ash called as he held up his left wrist. “Let’s show Aerodactyl what you’re really made of!”

Charizard turned his head towards his trainer on the ground and sees the Mega Ring. His face becomes even more confident as he stares at the Mega Stone on his collar. He then flies down on the ground with his back facing Ash. Aerodactyl then stopped flying around and was now hovering in the air, flapping its wings to keep it airborne. It was curious at why its opponent stopped fighting and it glared at Charizard his trainer.

Ash closed his eyes, and took a deep breath. Charizard did the same. Ash then called...

“Keystone, respond to my heart!”

He tapped the keystone on his Mega Ring, and raised it high over his head. Tendrils of light shot out, and snaked towards Charizard. Then, tendrils of light came out from the stone Charizard had on his collar, and linked with Ash’s lights.

“Beyond evolution! Mega Evolve!!!”

The light encompassed Charizard, and he began to change. Wing fins grew on his arms, his wings grew wider, the flame on his tail grew in size, and a single horn sprouted on the back of his head. When Charizard became visible in the light, the light surrounding him vanished as he roared out. Now, he was Mega Charizard Y.

Though Aerodactyl was very surprised at Charizard’s new form, it’s not going to fly away in fear because of it. It was still extremely eager to continue the battle.
“AAAAEEEERRRROOOOO!!!!” It roared ready to continue the fight, and both Ash and Charizard were ready.

“All right, Charizard, use Flamethrower!” Said Ash. Mega Charizard then flew back to the air, and fired his stream of flames at Aerodactyl. The flames went so fast, Aerodactyl didn’t have time to dodge it as it impacts with a critical hit.
“Great shot, Charizard! Ash complimented. “Now hit it with Wing Attack!”
Mega Charizard then flew close to Aerodactyl and both of his wings glow white and white energy shines off them at the wingtips. He then slams his wings at Aerodactyl with great force.

Aerodactyl is in so much pain now, it’s having a hard time staying airborne. Now Ash has the opportunity to finish this.

“Ok Charizard, lets finish this off with Seismic Toss!” Ash called out.
Mega Charizard then grabbed Aerodactyl with both of his hands, flies higher into the air and starts spinning at an incredible speed. He then begins diving right back down. During the dive, Aerodactyl took one last opportunity to land a strong Crunch attack on Mega Charizard’s right wing. Mega Charizard growled in pain at the attack and using the momentum of the dive, he tosses Aerodactyl to the ground where it crashed like a meteor,

Ash then got close to where Aerodactyl crashed. He sees it on the ground struggling to stand on its feet. Ash knew this was the perfect time to make his move and pulls out his Pokégem.

“Pokégem, Go!” He exclaimed as he threw it at Aerodactyl It hit the Fossil Pokemon and was consumed into the Pokégem. Ash, Pikachu, and Charizard, who flew back to the ground waited for the result, hoping that the battle would pay off.

The Pokégem shook and the ruby flashed when at last…

DING!

Ash then walked over to his Pokégem and picked it up.
“Yes! I actually caught a living breathing Aerodactyl!” He shouted excitedly as he held up his Pokégem in his signature pose.
“Pi-Pikachu!” Pikachu cheered.
“RRRARRRRGGGHH!!!!” Mega Charizard roared in victory as he began to glow and reverts back to his original form. Ash then approached Charizard as Pikachu jumped onto Ash’s shoulder.
“Good Job, Charizard!” He praised. “I knew you could do it!”
“Rargh.” the flame Pokémon happily growled.
“Well guys, I think we’ve had enough adventure for today.” Said Ash and both of his Pokemon agreed. “So Charizard, ready to fly us home?”
Charizard was more than ready, but when he began to spread his wings, he suddenly winced in pain.
“Charizard, what’s wrong?” Ash asked in concern.
“Pika, Pikachu?” Pikachu asked with a mutual expression.
Ash then took notice of Charizard’s right wing there was a large bite mark on it.
“Oh no, your wing!” Said Ash. “Looks like Aerodactyl must’ve sprained it when he bit you during your Seismic Toss.”
Charizard then sighed, knowing that he can’t fly for a while with an injured wing.
“Go ahead and take a nice long rest, buddy. You've earned it.” Ash said as he returned Charizard back into his Pokégem. He then looked up at the large hole in the ceiling showing the sky from outside.
“Now how do we get out of here if Charizard can’t fly?”
“Pika.” Pikachu said with a shrug.

Ash then took another look at his Pokégem and suddenly, an idea popped in his head. A broad, boyish smile grew on his face as he thought of it. Pikachu sees the expression on his trainer’s face and seemed to understand what he's thinking about and his face had a mix of both great excitement and uneasiness. Ash knew that his crazy idea would not only be exciting, but will also be the proof he needs when he tells everyone back Pallet Castle about today.

“Ready for a thrill ride, Pikachu?” He asked his partner with a boyish grin.
“Pikachu!” the electric mouse excitedly replied.

“Do you think Prince Ash is alright?" Questioned a concerned Sir Drew. “He’s been down there for hours, and it’ll be sunset soon."

He and Sir Brock have been on the surface on the mountain continuing their search for any Moon Stones while still trying to think of a way to help the prince. Unfortunately, they couldn’t find any Moon Stones anywhere and it’s has indeed been hours since the incident.

“I’m sure he’s fine, Drew. Remember, he’s got Pikachu and Charizard with him.” Said Sir Brock
“I know. But still, if we don’t think of a way to get them out soon, that blizzard will hit the mountains at night and they might freeze, or run out of air.” Drew pointed out with a hint of fear in his voice.
“I guess you're right.” Brock admitted with a sigh, not daring to think of the prince and his Pokémon suffocating or freezing to death down there.
“I’m gonna head back to Pallet Castle on my Flygon, and get some help. You head back to the crevice and wait for us there.” Drew told Brock.
“Alright, but hurry.” Brock said.

Drew pulled out his emerald Pokégem and was about to throw it and call out his Flygon when suddenly…

“AAAAEEERRROOO!!!”

The terrifying screech froze the two knights in their tracks as they heard it.

“What… was… that?!” Brock asked with great fear in his voice.
“I don’t know.” Drew said ”But whatever it was, it sounded big, vicious... and close.”

They looked around to see what made that screech. They then noticed a large shadow on the ground. They looked up and saw the silhouette of a large monstrous winged Pokémon flying in the air staring down at the two knights.

“AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!” they screamed as they unsheathed out their swords and their Pokégems as the creature began to descend towards them. As the object got closer, the knights got a better look at the creature. Their shock only increased even more when they saw what they’re looking at.

'"I d-d-don’t b-b-believe it!" Brock stuttered.
“I-I-Is th-th-th-th-that really an… an… an Aerodactyl?!” Drew said as his eyes widened.
The knights then took notice of a figure on Aerodactyl’s back. It appeared to be a person riding on Aerodactyl. They then noticed the familiar blue hat on the person's head and the Pikachu on his shoulder.
“Hey guys!” the prince called as he and Pikachu waved to them while smiling.
“Your Majesty!” they shouted.

Though they were relieved to see him and Pikachu alive, they were still shocked and flabbergasted to see what he’s doing on the back of an extinct and vicious Pokémon. As Aerodactyl’s feet touched down the snowy ground, Ash hopped off of its back and approached his friends who still had their mouths agape.

“I’ve got the Moon Stones.” He beamed as he handed Brock a pouch that contained their quarry.
Ash then noticed the expressions on their faces as they kept staring at him.
“Uh, guys? Is something wrong?” He asked.

No one said anything for about a minute. Then Sir Brock approached the prince, placed his hands on Ash’s shoulders and suddenly began shaking him like a maniac.

“Where have you been?! How in the world did you survive?! And What in the name of Arceus and Rock Pokémon are you doing with an Aerodactyl?!" He frantically questioned the prince as he kept shaking him.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa! Take it easy, Brock!” Said Drew.
“Huh? Oh! Right, sorry.” Brock said as he calmed down and stopped shaking the prince, who, he and Pikachu both had swirls in their eyes.
As soon as Ash recovered, he faced them.
“Guys, guys, relax." He told them. “Pikachu and I are fine. We’re here aren’t we?"
“So, what are you doing with this Aerodactyl?” asked Drew while pointing at the Fossil Pokémon.
“Take a guess.” Ash said with a smirk.

Drew and Brock looked at each other and back at Aerodactyl and Ash, their eyes and mouths widening every time they turned their heads.

“You didn’t...” Said Drew.
“I did.” Ash confirmed.
“You mean...?” Brock asked.
“Yup.” Ash confirmed again with pride. “I caught it.”
“But how?!” both knights asked, desperate to know every detail.
“It’s a long story, but I promise I'll explain everything later.” Assured the prince. “Right now, Pikachu and I wanna go for a fun ride with our new friend for a while before we head home. Right, Aerodactyl?”
“Aero!” Aerodactyl said with a friendly, toothy grin.
“You’re gonna go flying on Aerodactyl again?" Brock asked. “What about Charizard? Is he okay?”
“Yeah, but he has a sprained wing.” Ash answered.
“A sprained wing?! How?!” Drew questioned.
“Like I said, I’ll explain later." Ash said as he and Pikachu mounted back on Aerodactyl. “You guys take my Rapidash back to the castle stables and I’ll see you in a bit.”

And with that, Aerodactyl spreads his wings, gave out a roar and took back to the skies with his new friends on his back, ready to enjoy a fun flight over the kingdom. As they disappeared into the clouds Brock groaned as he rubbed his face in disbelief.

“I wonder what the Queen and everybody else will say when we tell them the news?” He said.

“He… caught… a… WHAT?!?!?!" Sir Gary exclaimed.
“An Aerodactyl?!” Squire Max asked.
“That’s crazy!” Shouted Misty.
“That’s incredible!” Serena said.
“That’s impossible.” Scoffed Iris with a doubting expression.

It was already sunset and Brock and Drew made it back to Pallet castle where everybody was wondering where they were and now, they're all standing in the front courtyard, telling what happened when a very concerned Serena and Queen Delia asked them about the whereabouts of the prince.

“I’m telling you,” Began Sir Brock. “The prince was riding a real live Aerodactyl! We saw it with our own eyes!”
“Yeah, you should’ve seen it.” Said Sir Drew. “It was huge and the look in its eyes shows that it's no pushover. And don’t even get me started on its teeth.”
“Was it cute?” asked a very eager and excited Bonnie.

Everyone stared at Bonnie in shock and disbelief of what she just asked.

“What?” The royal Pokémon caretaker asked.

“Are you sure that you really saw a real live Aerodactyl?” Counselor Oak asked the two knights.
“Yes, counselor.” They confirmed.
“Come on.” Said Iris. “Do you two honestly believe that we’ll fall for this tale? You're both a couple of little kids for telling us this nonsense.”
“It’s the truth!” Brock assured her.
“Puh-lease!” Iris scoffed. “It’s not like the prince is gonna land right in front of us here in the courtyard on the back of this so-called ‘Arodactyl’ and return it to his Pokégem like it truly belongs to him.”

Just then, a large shadow loomed over the courtyard. Everybody looked up and saw Aerodactyl soaring over the castle. It flew until it descended and touched down in the courtyard right in front of everyone shocking them all except for Sir Brock and Sir Drew. As soon as Aerodactyl landed, they see the prince and Pikachu hopping off of its back.

“That was fun, Aerodactyl!” Ash praised as he stroked Aerodactyl’s head. “Let’s do it again sometime.”
“Pika Pikachu!” Pikachu happily agreed
“Aero!” Aerodactyl screeched happily.
“Well, you go ahead and get a good rest.” Ash said as he calls Aerodactyl back into his Pokégem. Soon he turned and faced his friends who are all staring at him with wide eyes and their mouths hung open.
“Hi, everyone.” He greeted with a toothy grin. “What’s up?”

Suddenly, Iris fainted.

“I was wrong.” Bonnie said with a blank expression on her face. “That Aerodactyl wasn’t cute." Then her lips curled up to a very wide smile and her eyes sparkled. “IT WAS REALLY CUTE!!!”
Everyone but her fell over at her comment. Ash then chuckled as he got back up.
“Alright, everybody." He began. “Lets just head back inside and Pikachu and I will tell you everything over dinner."

“And that’s the whole story.” Ash finished as he ate his dinner.

He told everyone in the banquet hall of his adventure in the mountains. No one could hide the amazement in their eyes as he told them everything. Queen Delia, Bonnie and all of the handmaidens had their eyes sparkling when he told them about chamber with gems on the walls, while Counselor Oak, Tracey, Max, Cilan, Cress, Chili and all of the knights were amazed about the hidden world of the fossil Pokémon. Pikachu told the same thing to the other Pokémon and they were amazed as well.

“Wow! That’s so incredible!” complimented Max.
“You said it.” Agreed Tracey.
“Imagine, an entire jungle hidden inside the mountains and inhabited with the extinct Fossil Pokémon.” Sir Gary said.
“Just think of what other secrets the kingdom could have.” Sir Kenny said.
“I just HAVE to see all of those gems!” Dawn squealed.
“Think of all the gorgeous jewelry we can make out of them!” added May.
“They could really go well with all of our dresses!” Said Serena.
"We'll really look great wearing those!" Said Misty.
"I want one on my dress!" Said Bonnie.
"Me too! And I'll bet they'll look great on some of our Pokémon too!" Said Iris.
“Well Ash, it sounded like you’ve had such an amazing adventure." Queen Delia said to her son as she ended her thoughts of wearing jewlery.
“Yeah, Mom, and I hope there'll be more where that came from.” He said.
"What about Charizard?" asked Max. "Is he going to be okay with that sprained wing of his?"
"Nurse Joy said that his wing will be better in a few days as long it's bandaged up. He just needs to stay on the ground until then." Said Ash.
"Well that's good to hear." Said Cilan

Suddenly, the front door of the banquet hall opened and a guard came in.

“Your highness,” he began as he approached the Queen and kneeled. “A messenger from outside the kingdom has arrived at the castle with a delivery."
“What kind of delivery?” Asked the queen.
“Well, you’ll just have to see for yourselves.” The guard said.

Then to everyone’s surprise, a Dragonite entered the banquet hall, wearing a messenger’s bag. Unlike Iris’ Dragonite, whose face always seemed to be in a foul mood, itching for a fight and some action, this one had a calm, friendly and happy face. The Dragonite continued walking down the banquet hall and stopped as it approached Prince Ash. It dug into its bag and pulled out an envelope with a crimson wax seal and held it out to him.

“For me?” Ash asked as he accepted the envelope. The Dragonite happily growled and left the hall. Ash stared at his envelope in curiosity.
"I wonder what this letter is for?” He wondered.
“Why don’t you open it and find out?” suggested Tracey.

Ash uncapped the seal and opened the envelope. He pulled out a sheet of paper and began to read aloud.

Dear Prince Ashton Satoshi Ketchum,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to become the first royal student for a two-year term at the Academy of Pokémon Sorcery on Celesta Island. If you accept the invitation, please reply as soon as you can and we look forward to meeting you and your Pokémon, which you are allowed to bring them all with you. If you do not wish to attend, we understand your decision.

Take all the time you need to make your decision. We await your reply. Until then, the Dragonite will remain in your kingdom until you hand her the letter of your reply.

Yours sincerely,

Augustine Sycamore
Headmaster

As Ash read the letter, his eyes widened in shock at what the letter said. Everybody else had the same expression as they heard him read the letter. As they stared at the prince’s face, they all knew that he clearly has a lot to think about.

What better way to start a Mega Evolution?

What did you think of the hidden Fossil Pokemon world as well as everyone's reactions to seeing Ash's new Arodactyl?

Since when does Ash understand mega evolution to where he is actually using them. I mean in this chapter. Ash has Trevors mega charizard from the anime.

Next to Tyrantrum, Aerodactyl is my favorite of the fossil Pokemon.

I chose Aerodactyl not only because of Ash's history with it, but also because it's my favorite of the fossil Pokemon next to Tyrantrum.

Have you read the other chapters yet? If you have, what were your favorite parts?

I'll get to em soon.
Might be nice to have Ash catch a Tyrunt or Tyrantrum in the near future.

Neat! A new Pokemon to add to the roster, and one that can Mega Evolve too. And now, Ash has been invited to a prestigious school by none other than Sycamore, the leading expert on Mega Evolution. This just got super awesome by 10^100000000000000000 power!

RSBCS In reply to tati611 [2015-05-11 00:40:43 +0000 UTC]

Because of the fossil Pokemon. No wonder. Nice idea with that little separate world l those Pokemon lived in. by the way, besides that it Mega Evolves, why did you choose to have Ash catch Aerodactyl? Because of his history with it?

And on my story, what did you think of the little intro I did?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tati611 In reply to RSBCS [2015-05-11 01:07:03 +0000 UTC]

For the Aerodactyl thing, Exactly the reason, plus it's one of my favorite fossil Pokemon.

What did you think of the chamber with the gems and evolutionary stones? You noticed i did a reference on the games?

The intro in your new Kid Icarus Uprising chapter was pretty funny.

When it comes to giving hints for my story, i use one word.

Subtlety.

Take my advise, use subtlety when giving hints on your stories.

Speaking of intro's didn't you read the intro sentence on the first prologue?

Just wait until i release the final part of my prologue, I'll have team rocket in it, and include a group of characters who will play a small role in the story. If you wanna know who they are, it's a surprise.

Remember, subtlety.

RSBCS In reply to tati611 [2015-05-11 01:40:08 +0000 UTC]

Duly noted. I'll try to be more subtle from here on out.

That's neat that you're favorite fossil Pokemon is Aerodactyl. I think I prefer Tyrantrum for mine. Out of all of them, that's one I bond with as much as Swampert, and that's saying something.

I can't wait for the next part of your prologue. Already, your story is getting amazing. I think you might even outdo me at this rate, which I will have to concede to at some point.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tati611 In reply to RSBCS [2015-05-11 01:49:36 +0000 UTC]

Don't say that.

Remember, your story was my inspiration to write mine. If you stop, i stop.

It's like Ash says, don't give up till it's over.

You read the intro sentence on the first prologue?

👍: 1 ⏩: 1

RSBCS In reply to tati611 [2015-05-11 04:38:59 +0000 UTC]

I may need to reread it. And yeah, you're right. If I stop now, what I do will die out with it. This is something I share with others for the sake of sharing. I need to remember that.

Besides, if someone is doing good, it just means I need to do something different with how I create. I just need to evolve.

Thanks man. After what went on in my head today, I feel like a new man.
