Lovely! You got a lot of implied detail along with a lot of nice texture. Great portrait! That's a cool looking bridle.

Haha, no, definitely not! I think implied detail is often more effective than noodling in all the tiny details until all the life has been beaten into submission in a painting. A loose hand that can imply a great deal of reality without loosing the life of the medium is preferable--to MY eyes, anyway.
