Love all your work, I also use primacolor markers I was wondering how many markers did you use on this piece. I have the 72 and skin sets. Does the blue pencil add different shades??? If you could reply it would be very helpful

Thank you SO much! I've been busy with work (high school art teacher) so I haven't had the opportunity to do much lately. But will do!!

I'm obsessed with artists who use markers. I've never in my life owned Copics and have no idea what to do with them, but I loooooove the way they look. Fantastic job!

I've actually never used Copics. I plan to but they're a bit too expensive for me. I've also never seen them carry French grays (what I use) at the art store. I've only used Prismacolor French gray markers mainly because I stick to portraits and I feel like they require warmer tones. Markers are truly a fantastic medium because they require NO studio space! 90% of these were done at a Starbucks or iHop! The key to these and the few very strong pencil renderings on DA are the darker values. At the beginning you could see my fear of going too dark but then I think it was the Bruce Lee piece where I just went for it (especially at the core shadows)...and I haven't looked back since! Thanks again bro!

Yes! For those soft edges I normally have 3 marker values uncapped and ready to blend in before either dries. I'll lay down my darker value just under the core shadow and "push" it towards the actual core shadow with the lighter markers! These books by the way are fantastic!! I even rated them on Amazon!

Oh, thank you! If I ever start using the medium, I'll be sure to check them out.

Thank you!! The one you were looking at was my first real attempt at painting a female face using markers (and pencils for touch-ups)! I didn't now how to do hair at that time so I just faked it! LOL

Thank you! Eventually I would like to illustrate some of my stories but I have some time until I'm able to invent anatomy!
