The black cauldron was a flop for Disney so it gets swept under the rug for the most part. Iβm fairly certain Eilonwy was my first ever crush. And I very much agree with your assessment of this type of scenario

In concept artwork for the film that I've seen on the Internet, she was supposed to be barefoot. I think if she had been barefoot in the movie, it would be a bigger cult classic than it is.
