I read about these!! One of my fave breeds!! <3 You cant get one in the U.S. though. Beautiful dog. They were bred to look like a wolf but be more obedient than a German shepherd. A very selective process of breeding German shepherds with wolves. Am i right?

Actually, I think along with the other "Wolfdog" breeds, like Tamaskans which, I know personally you CAN get in the US, they look very similar, and the Saarloos Wolfhound, are all actually just a mix of wolf looking breeds, selectively breeding them until they get the wolf like appearance. I know that Tamaskans are just Malamutes, Huskies, German Shepherds, and all of the other wolf-looking working dogs compiled into one, beautiful looking wolfdog. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

I read that it was either the Saarloos Wolfhound or Czechoslovakian Wolfdog that you could not get in the U.S. They try to keep them in the country of origin. Idk why.

Sorry to butt in - but there is at least one Czechoslovakian Wolfdog kennel in the US (Galomy Oaks, or something like that) and it's not unusual to have your puppy flown in from Europe.
CSWs are not more obedient than GSDs, the wolf inheritance of intelligence and independence is usually too strong to beat working-line GSDs in training.
About Tamaskans I heard that they also have CSWs in them;]
Don't know about Saarloosses, but CSWs are not kept just to ourselves, there are many breeding kennels outside Czech and Slovak Republic, especially in Italy.
