Description
The T-34 was the first armored vehicle to be able to withstand the German Pz III and IV earning it the name "Pride of Mother Russia." The tank was so effective, the Germans developed a new 8.8 cm cannon simply to defeat its armor. In return, the Soviets developed the T-34-85 with increased engine power, armor, and main armament of an 8.5 cm cannon (hence T-34-85). This arms race continued on for the duration of the war with Russia finally developing a heavy tank: the Iosef Stalin 3 (IS-3) which did not engage German forces due to the fall of the 3rd Reich coming abruptly to an end, but did parade through the streets of Berlin along with many other vehicles, the T-34 included.
