OH. MY. DILLO! YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW LONG THIS TOOK ME! THE VERY DREAMS I HAD FOR THIS!!! THE DESIGN JUST FINALLY CAME TO ME!! AFTER YEARS OF TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT IT JUST HIT ME IN THE HEAD LIKE A BELATED FRISBEE!! YOU JUST CAN'T COMPREHEND THE HAPPINESS THIS FREAKING GIVES ME DESPITE THE SHAKY LINES!! YOU JUST CAN'T! *cough*

I suppose I owe an explanation... Okay, so a I freaking ADORE Sonic Underground SO much! It's what first got me into Sonic! It didn't take me long to realize that the show could use a little touching up just about... EVERYWHERE! I could go into a rant about all the things they did wrong but that takes too much time and I'm lazy. Plus, no one wants to read all that in an art description. Anyway, one of the (many) things they got wrong was Sonia's look. I mean, I loved her hair but the colors were too dark on her outfit (I plan to color later), the design just made her seem more... Gothic than girly-girl to me. I don't mind gothic but Sonia isn't gothic so... I wanted to fix her up. I always saw Sonia as a bit plus sized. I know she was rather skinny in the cartoon but it made her head look far too big even for a Sonic character and it just didn't fit how she grew up. I bet she still is a bit taller than most average hedgehogs, of course. Also, I don't know why, but no one ever gives girl hedgehogs any chest fur as far as I can remember and I want to know why the heck that is. I mean, I get you match it with the human equivalent of chest hair but Sonic characters are modeled after real life animals. Girl hedgehogs have chest fur too. I decided to give her that unique feature as it fits Sonia to me. She's always looking to be outside the norm with her fashion but still in style and she doesn't care much for how others perceive it as long as it fulfills what she imagines. Plus, I take her as a chick who can stand the cold better than most so why wouldn't she have chest fur? I also wanted her quills sweeped over to one side to again, fit her uniqueness but also give her a bit of that stylish girly look she loves so much. What I love about Sonia is, she may be girly but she never goes too outrageous and is always practical even with things that seem unpractical to others she makes a use out of them so whatever she has on her she uses to her advantage whenever she gets the chance. I ditched the ball gown gloves because my goodness, those are so impractical for her and don't work well when you're kicking butt. They are usually quite tight.

I planned to do a full body but it was just getting too complicated so I decided to work small. So you only get a waist up pic. Sorry. I'll probably do a full body later. I don't really have the time anyway as I have been busy so those expression requests might take a while to come. I have been very stressed but I felt I really needed to draw something that I longed to draw and I figured I just needed to do it, even if it turned out horrible. It actually turned out way better than I expected and nearly matched the image I had in mind. ^^ I hope you like it. I plan to redesign Manic too. I might even do other characters as I have always wanted to fix the show up anyway I could. ^^

P.S. Did I mention how much I used to freaking love to draw Sonia? She was always a fave to draw and I know that's hard to believe since she isn't spammed in my gallery but my goodness, I love drawing her.
