Description 001. A sandstorm of changes
"I have always thought that sandstorms bring only misfortune with them.
Who am I to know... Perhaps it is so. But I should not leave my unexpected guest for the storm to claim."

Hey, you! First time seeing Anza? Then why don't you
check out the official Anza tumblr over HERE ?

And here it is, at last! The grand project which I've been working on for almost a year!
Right now I can feel only two things: satisfaction, and some serious butterflies.

I really, REALLY hope you like it! I also hope we're all waiting for the next episode with anticipation.
Just... no specific critiques, please. I know the poses aren't perfect and the sandstorm could look a lot better. I just couldn't DO any better. Please bear with me, while I improve.

Nice overall. I notice a couple things: the ground texture is a bit too smooth, so the infrequent rocks stand out. Would benefit from being rougher, a displacement map perhaps or a particle system with gravel and whatnot. And another thing is the transition between the giraffe looking out and then wearing a head wrap in the next frame. There is nothing to indicate where it got the wrap, or why, or where are the characters situated in relation to the tower. The page seems to be missing a panel or two as a result.

Five out of five people I've shown this in beta, when asked what's going on, said exactly what I had in mind. So you're just nitpicking.

Personally I see no discontinuity as well, and showing the giraffe getting the headwrap would be pointless, as it's not relevant to the story. There's a sandstorm, she needs a headwrap. Simple and logical.

As for the ground being undetailed... first have a look at the ground shader's node layout . It's probably the most complicated shader I've done so far, and therefore, I will do everything to never have to come back to it. Second, this whole scene is so memory-hungry (when with the characters), that adding such extremely fine detail could be a problem. I've just upgraded my RAM from 4 gb, which was ridiculous, to 8 gb, and it's still a strain on memory. Besides, the ground is not a key part of any panel.

*sigh* Too bad you didn't read that part of the description where I asked for no specific critiques. I mean, I appreciate that you've taken the time to do this, but really, this is as good as I can do for now, and trust me when I say that I can see all the imperfections in my work. I'm just not always able to fix them.

Sorry for not reading that part. Indeed, I should have.

I wonder if you can make animation with your characters? Or is it impossible?

Technically yes, that's totally possible, but in practice... well, I'm not an animator (and I've tried it a few times), and the models themselves are imperfect (but suitable) for animation, because my usual workflow is strange.
But I do know the theory behind animating, so who knows? I would definitely love to make a movie - or a video game - one day.

You do realize that I don't know Spanish very well, right?
No problem, though - this I can understand perfectly.

Thank you very much!
