Description Just in case: this is not TF art. There.

Ever tried looking through someone's glasses when you didn't need glasses? IT'S TRIPPEH!
Also ruins vision, so don't actually do it.

I'm sure we've all missed her, so here - have some Jinjing-Yu wearing glasses because it's all *Pedantia 's fault.
And no, the glasses aren't permanent. Silly one-shot spin-offs, woooo!

"Does this tonal depth crushing make me look flat?"

Hey, you! Like anthro chinese crested dogs and/or amphibians? Then why don't you
check out more pictures with Jinjing-Yu (and Adreea) over HERE ?

I am in love with the IBL functionality from the new mental ray in Max 2014. Too bad it's oh so very problematic to use efficiently, especially when using it with GI on large, flat scenes (this is not one of them). "No photons stored after emitting 10000 photons" error, anyone?
Also incompatible with the muhHair shader, which I usually use for hair. LIGHT INCLUSION/EXCLUSION TRICKERY TO THE RESCUE!
Gah.

You can do ANYTHING with Max!
Much better than this, in fact! You only need experience.

And thanks!

I liked the vintage feel, those colors. And the pose is as the title'' better to see you.''

Yeah, tried really hard to try and reproduce every aspect of a crappy analogue camera photo, so I'm glad it works!

Thanks!

Daww, she looks really cute with glasses. Randochi is right when saying it makes Jinjing-yu look older. But not in a bad way--more in a mature, librarian sort of way.

I DON'T REALLY HAVE MUCH ELSE TO ADD BECAUSE THE PICTURE IS VERY GOOD. I especially like the contrast of the reddish light in the upper-left corner against the bluish shadows in the lower right. The footprints were SLIGHTLY confusing, though, because there isn't really much evidence in the prints of her lying down on the sand. They look more like someone ELSE with paws walked over her while she was lying there, and HER pawprints are somewhere else offscreen.

ROFL, she would make the worst librarian ever.

She'd probably build a fort out of books around herself, or something.

I guess you're right about the pawprints, BUT! I planned it exactly how ~Randochi said it - she walked "past the lower edge of the frame" and then just fell back. Mostly because I had no idea how to sculpt all the sand disturbances from someone sitting and laying down normally.

And yeah, I've never been on a beach, but I do know how incredibly soft beach sand is - you can safely fall on it.

Thank you!

Kinda like snow, Jinjing-Yu coulda fallen back into the sand.
The way that she appears she may have just landed there.
When there is sudden movement there is no need for a hand to be placed in the sand as if you were getting ready to lay down.

I too thought about the foot prints until I understood the process of falling in something like sand or snow.

Goood work, detective! That's exactly what I had in mind!

Because, yeah - beach sand is ridiculously soft. And Jinjing-Yu is too weird to just lay down normally, like any other person would.

I guess that could work. Though I don't think I'd want to fall back onto sand like that, personally.

To believe it or not white sand beaches are amazingly soft.  But those would be the only beaches I'd fall backwards like that without getting a "rug burn".

Did you crop her on purpose?

With glasses she looks older... if that's even possible.

I believe my favorite part about Jinjing-Yu, in this photo specifically, is her belly.  She's got a pudge which complements her button.  Adorable.

She does look different but in a good way. Apart from the glasses I mean.  I'm not sure about what you're saying in the description other than using something different but either way she's as beautiful as ever.

And about wearing someone else's glasses there is no need.  People wear mine.  I'm really close to being legally blind in my right eye so it really throws everyone off.  I have no way to describe it other than saying I have an intermediate case of Keratoconus.

Hopefully Jinjing-Yu isn't wearing a perscription as bad as mine.

tchaikovsky2 In reply to Randochi [2013-09-29 18:36:43 +0000 UTC]

Well. Yes, and no. As in: I cropped nothing - this is the full frame, but I wanted to keep the image completely clean.

Also, composition. That framing helped it.

Very glad you like it!

And the thing I was talking about, you probably mean IBL - it's Image-Based Lighting, which is... well, quite literally what it says: a lighting method where instead of placing lights in a scene, you use an .HDR environment map to light everything.

What do you mean? I'm here all the time, and not going anywhere!

Seriously though, I've been (and still am) devoured by several projects at the same time, and in the past two or three weeks, I've been additionally hyper-inspired to do EVEN MOAR!

SOON, YOU WILL SEE. SOOOOOON*.

*SOON: may refer to: a couple of weeks; probably not more than a month.

Ad. "SOON": it is more work than the artist thought it would be.
