Description Something i did 3 or so years ago after i started playing Red Alert 3. Fell in love with the game especially the new Japanese faction, The Empire of the Rising Sun. The intro trailer was so cool that i wanted to try doing something like it. Originaly just a pencil sketch, i decided to ink it and this is the end result. Don't know why it took me so long before i decided to upload this.

I've no idea how many Shogun Battleships they'd have, I can only recall around 3 Floating Fortresses deployed so far: one at the North Sea (presumably along the Iceland corridor), one blockading at the Strait of Gibraltar and the other at Pearl Harbor that was later used to assault the US west coast.

Again, considering the ERS manpower being considerably smaller than the Allies or Soviets, they'd be reliant on robotics and other techs to bolster their pitiful numbers. If any enemy force manages to reach Tokyo then they'd be down to a small elite force guarding the Emperor, and the rest is whatever they can patch together either from remains of other units or whomever they can conscript for a last-ditch defense with whatever is left they can build or construct. Again, all this is based on how things go in real life, there are few scenarios that the Japanese could've won without some stupid gimmick fantasy weapon.

Well they do have a few Nanoswarm Generators and Psi Decimators as two Generators in Tokyo Harbor and one covering the Imperial HQ in theory any force trying to get Yokohama can be stop by Nanoswarms and if that fails destroy any landing with Psi Decimators likely held them back till the Allies and Soviets together and wipe them all out together. But allied Chronotech even reduce to tactical use can get them close.

Plus the shipyards, dojo training centers, factories and command centers all located in one place

Based on the cutscene there 18 Battleships and given half the fleet in Pearl with other half sent to attack thats 36 Battleships add in 2 Commanders thats 2 Fleets of 6 Battleships instead of Carriers with 2 to 3 Fleets committed to assault plus in total spotted 3 Shipyards in Hawaii and 3 in Japan for 6 at a time plus we've spotted 2 additional floating fortress one for special projects and another in what could be a pool likely a prototype and likely a 6th as a training center.

I think the Empire wanted to be careful with robotics as committed to Intelligence gathering

One thing I'm having trouble with is organization of the Imperial forces with the Shoguns as commanders why Nomai more of a Admiral then a Shogun still whats your opinion of the Empire's organization.

Something you have to understand is that the Imperial forces are not organized traditionally like that of the Allies or Soviets. And this is sort of based on the Meiji Restoration that Japan IRL experienced, with rapid industrial growth and modernization as well as the strengthening of imperial rule by the Emperor rather than what had long been a feudal system.

Anyways, in RA3 the shoguns of the Empire are basically similar to the generals/commanders of other armies. And they are often addressed as commander since that is their role on the battlefield. To command forces.
But unlike that of Allies or Soviets, these Shoguns are also owners of zaibatsus, business conglomerates that have strong political, economic, and military ties to the Empire. These include Kenji Tenzai and Naomi Shirada, owners of Tenzai Robotics and Shirada Shipworks respectively. While this would make them specialized and more familiar with their own fields, this would present a bit of "conflict of interest" for these shogunates since they'd be more inclined to use their own forces rather than some other company's, as well as focus on defending their own home bases that just so happen to be strategically important not just to themselves but to the Empire due to their close ties.

This would be like if Commander Giles wasn't just an Air Force commander because he was experienced at air operations but because he owns all the aircraft manufacturers in the Allied arsenal and it would benefit him financially to use aircraft more than other forces.

I assume Nomai is Naomi.
Naomi is an Admiral because she is part of the Imperial Navy. But she is referred to as part of the shogunate because she is the owner of Shirada Shipworks. And I'm not sorry to say that she has the most unflattering look of the entire cast. Whoever did her design and/or makeup needs to be disemboweled.

Still this chain of command makes it easier to take out as all focus on one but wonders larger scale and various armies work out chain of command.

The Emperor's personal forces wouldn't be that much different, they'd probably be comprised of elite veteran units.

TChenArt In reply to Wisky-08 [2019-08-23 07:15:37 +0000 UTC]

The Steel Ronins were created by Ten-Shi Zaibatsu, formed from the merger between Tenshi Robotics and Shirada Shipworks and were not operational until after the Empire's defeat and Yoshiro's death.

It wouldn't really make much difference for the Empire to send the elite Tokyo garrison for operations elsewhere since they could never match the numbers the Allies or Soviets could field. It's partly why they relied so much on robotics and other advanced technology to make up for the numerical disadvantage, and which is why they had to wait until the Allies and Soviets were too occupied and expended fighting each other before launching their own surprise offensive. While they did make great gains these weren't sustainable and would lead to their inevitable and canonical defeat.

Oh was thinking of a crossover story with RA3 here the Empire of the Rising Sun encounters the forces of GDI TWIII era AU through the Gate what do you think will happen will they listen to the GDI Japanese Commander or what as here how it go:

Well anyhow the Gate appears in Tokyo near the Imperial Palace likely the thing reported and area lock down but something comes through like a drone MALP of course a nanoswarm engage to contain the area followed by a portal and some kind of wing aircraft to appear and Imperial forces to intercept and shoot down. Then another drone appears through the gate this one seems modified and a voice speaking in Japanese saying we come in peace and mean no harm.

What you will happen as yes did shoot down a GDI UAV but its over the Imperial Palace and a danger no one wants to take chances especially with the Emperor. With most of the Imperial forces off fighting its just the Emperor and Prince left to defend japan what forces taking Vladivostok will have to run back to reinforce Japan but its small as can't strip the entire area or stop there plans.

So it will be the Imperial Guard to defend Tokyo.

The question is what will they do considering everyone a barbarian we the otherworldly barbarians but this case someone on the other side of this gate once explain to them like hey sorry for popping in and such. As right now GDI on damage control from the surge and on alert given the last time the gate went haywire things didn't end so well as likely pass that on to the Empire to lock down this gate as they make sure nothing going to happen.

TChenArt In reply to Wisky-08 [2019-08-24 02:35:39 +0000 UTC]

Why does "the Gate" have to exclusively be in Tokyo, Japan? Just so you can justify this being a "GATE..." fanfic? What's the point? Do you want GDI to form an alliance with the Empire of the Rising Sun? How does this affect either faction? Bear in mind that both are from the same though alternate Earth timeline, but this GDI would be set in the far future of this alternate Earth if its TW3 era. How does this change anything for either side?

Being formed from the United Nations as a global peacekeeping force to combat a Nod insurgency and halt the spread of Tiberium, I highly doubt the GDI would form an alliance with the Empire of the Rising Sun, and vice versa. The Empire wouldn't gain much from the tech GDI has to offer in terms of robotics or the resources in this TW3 alt Earth.

The appeal of "GATE" was the juxtaposition of modern militaries versus a fantasy world of dragons and elves and magic, and the interactions between the characters of both worlds.

Wisky-08 In reply to TChenArt [2019-08-24 05:28:47 +0000 UTC]

Well how would the Empire react to the Gate and the appearance of GDI.

Currently its location happens to go with it being regularly reopen to Earth as having the Gate open to long sucks out the zero point energy need to sustain the universe much like Stargate Atlantis issues. Anyhow like a Stagate there was a surge and jump target locations to Tiberium Earth 2047 to RA3 Earth 1986 or 89 still working on the Gate.

Skipping to it what this idea involves is the future of GDI and Nod battle of Tiberium spreading across the Gate and the outcomes into the Otherworld current otherworld in 2010 the current year is 71 NC (New Calendar), Earth year 2047 Nod agents sabotage the Alnus Gate causing a surge during the routine connection to their Earth and causes a shift causing the two parallels to meet up as now future Falmart meeting up with RA3 as the battle of Nod and GDI enter RA3 Earth.

GDI sub faction OMEN (Otherworldly Magic and Elemental Division): A lot of issues brought up by OMEN multi species divisions while mostly broken up to make it easier on logistics they still operate Expeditionary Teams of mix units while operate the base infantry in all of GDI. From GDI Elite Warriors to Rose Knights while Packs of Wolves make up heavy fighters of Wolves its the Rangers that pack the most punch of course Mage operates alone but unlike other GDI infantry working in squads means each comes with a medic or heal nearby units if not busy.

Each Rose Knight is bless in contract by Rory making them super soldiers why Elven Snipers are the most powerful units with guided rounds and magic weapons that can blow a hole in a Mammoth Tank like a personnel Railgun.

Much like 3rd Recon all other races operate in joint expeditionary teams to provide max flexibility mostly led by a Dark Elf as Wood or High Elves more the Snipers.

Bunny Warriors go through extreme training and education and make up the mainline fighters if anything with OWMEN/OMEN it puts quality over quantity making each soldier worth a hundred.

Early days the Other World was divided into towns and cities but grew to cover areas and zones.

Unlike Earth base GDI branches they had more than Nod to worry about and defense upkeep was priority.

Still GDI Commandos are replace with Champions or Heroes like Rory and Giselle.

But with more superior infantry the lack of Commandos is filled up and pass for a army of standard Commandos.

Note: Catgirls, and Medusas or near Human species operate in regular branches based in the otherworld so a Riflemen or Zone Raider be a cute Cat girl in the armor.

Question if the Empire of the Rising Sun had sub factions how would they be?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TChenArt In reply to Wisky-08 [2019-08-20 09:47:05 +0000 UTC]

I'd say the sub-factions would focus on the 3 strong points of the Empire:

  • Navy
  • Robotics/VX tech
  • Psionics

  • 1) I'd say the Empire has one of the best navies of the Three Powers. The naval sub-faction should then get an even greater emphasis on naval superiority at the expense of ground units. Tier 3 units like the King Oni and Steel Ronin wouldn't be available, as well as the Wave-Force Artillery. Much of their heavy firepower would be in naval units. Naval units would be more durable and faster and cheaper to produce. The Naginata Cruiser would be available at tier 1 and replaces its torpedoes with Wave-Force particle beam arrays for increased lethality and range. Their Shogun-class Battleship would be upgraded to the Emperor-class Battleship, featuring an additional turret at the front for additional firepower. Structures built at sea would be more durable and have a built-in VX turret for protection.

    2) The Empire's Robotics tech is unmatched. Their naval presence would be slightly diminished. Infantry units would be mostly replaced by robotic versions, being more durable and faster. Shinobis and Archer Maidens would not be available for training. Mechanical/Robotic units would be buffed and cheaper to build. Mecha Tengus have increased firepower and durability. Steel Ronins would be available at tier 1, and King Onis would be available at tier 2. The Shogun Executioner would replace the Giga Fortress.

    3) Psionics would be the wild card sub-faction. Archer Maidens do increased damage against tanks. Yuriko clones can be trained, their special ability is a forward directional Psionic blast. Yuriko Prime's special ability is mass mind control of units around her (similar to Allied Spy). Psionic Decimator is either cheaper to build, recharges faster or has a wider blast radius.

    Just some thoughts.

    Mind if I use this?

What of the Imperial Guard plus the Empire's Home Guard or Boeitai?

Plus I see Psionics as Omega while the Imperial Navy...

Me I suspected the Empire had 36 Shogun Battleships and 3 Floating Fortresses yet can't help recall a 4th so 4 of them and 6 Imperial Fleets as the intro showed 18 Battleships with Pearl defended by half the Fleet so another 18 but at the same time when we think of the Imperial Invasion of Russia and destruction of the Soviet Northern Fleet and floating fortresses swinging around sweeping everything in there path it would leave the Med forces remaining with the Americas pinned to defend the Pacific.

By the way I think the Empire went around AIs as the Empire's briefing voice unlike the EVA system sounds like Yuriko sister Izumi and it hit me they might be using her like a Cabal plus control the clones as remember at the end of Yuriko story the med devices with Yuriko clones being made I assume surged and went boom unlike the ones in pods asleep,

I'm working on something called Gate: Thus Tiberium Arrived

On the dawn of the empire when the Soviets main attack begins because of the shift and else where on another world a surge now something has appear in the capital:

    gate-thus-the-jsdf-fought-ther…

Connecting to the other world now ruled by the forces of the Global Defense Initiative and battling the forces of the Brotherhood fighting to save another world from the horrors of Tiberium after 71 years of fighting of the Earth year 2047.

Gosh this was done so long ago. Yeah the Japanese faction was an interesting concept of multi-role units and unhindered base expansion. But some of their units were maybe too specialized and at the expense of their multi-role units which are comparatively weaker in their dedicated role. it's been quite some time since i last played this game. the empire of the rising sun faction is a bit unorthodox, much different playstyle from the Allies and Soviets. the rely a lot on transforming mechs which are able to fill two different roles,

    examples are
-the Mecha Tengu which is an assault mech but can transform to a Jet Tengu (which are the jets flying in formation in the background), which is their main air superiority unit
-then you have the Striker VX, a anti-air robot, which can switch to the Chopper VX, (which you'll also see in the background) an anti-surface helicopter
-the Sea Wing, an anti-air submarine unit, which can switch to the Sky-Wing, an anti-infantry aircraft
-i dunno if they count, but their MBT, the Tsunami tank, can go on both land and sea, something the Allied and Soviet MBTs cannot do

it's quite fun to play, and it's worth a shot.

thanks btw, glad you like this piece
