I just looked at the size of the clip, the design of the butt and the barrel length. The butt made it really east to identify,

well those *hours of battlefield and call of duty, among others, did help me aside from being able to identify different weapons but to draw them as well

Oops sorry about the bad spelling. yes it helps because you become familiarized with them and get a better 3D mental image of where the sights and whatever go and how it would look from different perspectives.
