Well, I made this scene a while back. I just got around to rendering it.MADE WITH:
Wings3d for the mechs
Wings 3d for unwrapping UV's
Photoshop for texturing UV's
Vue 5 Infinite for background and render with a little touch of photoshop in post.

Well it is supposed to be water but Vue does not do water all that good. I have started using Lightwave now though..next time water will llook like water!

Thanks man! Well I just made some terrains in Vue and added a water material to them. I'm ok with the way it turned out but I wish I could do better. Real looking splashes and froth etc...

Wow the mechs are cool! but the explosives behind it (it's explosives, right?) looks kinda repetitive, and doesn't seem like an explosion.

Thanks man.. well yeah those "explosions" are not really realistic. Thats one thing about Vue that is not easy or possible without some other app.. Particle effects.

Haha! It's supposed to be water but VUE has the crappiest water effects around. I tried to cover it up with some mist but it's hard to make something like water look real in vue unless it's just on a flat plane... which I did not want.

Haha!! Thanx man! Good to hear frm you! One of these days soon I'll get a lightwave scene set up with mechs fighting properly. In a city or something. I would love to do it in VUE but it has no particle effects.

Right on! Yeah, all those products (Lightwave, Maya, 3DSMax) are very complicated and have a LOT to them, but once you get the hang of it, you're all set.
If you want a great way to learn (which is how I'm learning 3dsmax right now), go to [link] and look into their videos. They have video tutorials that are amazing. They teach anything from the VERY basics to modeling to texturing and lighting to the final render.
Good luck with your learning. Can't wait to see more scenes from you. I love how easily you apply your kick-ass mechs to everyday scenes

Thanks for the link!! Lightwave is not too bad when it comes to animation and modeling. I just have a problem with special effects.. they never look good enough when I do them. I did get some training material for LW though and hopefully that will address that issue and the link you provided can help a lot! Thanx!
