hmm, it looks kinda like the timberwolf A.K.A madcat from the mech warrior games, I like the mini guns in the head, nice job man!

Yeah, it does have a Timberwolf feel but it's my version of the Catapult actually. Thank you!

Could use a lance of these when the forces of Anubis attack. Thats right folks, "The Mummy Returns:25k".
Legions of mechs piloted by undead rise up and assail mankind.

*Gets led away by nurse*
Oh yeah, great job with this.

Oh yeah, think of the fun.
Ancient Egyptian battlemechs driven by mummies in mechanical sarcophagi.
Mechs firing death rays that bypass armor and kill the living pilot.

I only remember 1 or 2 mech movies.
*Takes graphical tablet with water*

Mech Movies - I love Robot Jox, Robot Wars, Crash and Burn. Those are all b movies but goodies. A few star wars movies have mechs in them. Empire Strikes back and Return of the Jedi. Plus episode III. Robocop 1 and 2. I'm trying to think of more movies.. oh.. The last Matrix movie. War of the Worlds have the tripod mechs. Hmm.. I wonder how many more there are.. not many more I can think of off hand. Of course I do not count Anime. Plus the Japanese do not consider mechs.. mechs. They call them Giant Robots. Mecha in Japan means machines.. Tanks, cars, giant robots, planes etc.. I think a lot of people in the west do not realize that!!

I figure that mechs are piloted by someone, bots run on their own.
Robocop is a cyborg (Human+robotics).

Have not seen any anime mecha.
Grew up on Gigantor and the early anime stuff, (speed racer/kimba the white lion, etc).
Some of them can be called mechs since they have human pilots but I won't fight about terminology.

Pc Gamewise there was:
Shattered steel: Bioware
Shogo: Monolith - Anime inspired fps/mech battle game.
Earthsiege Series.
Mechwarrior series.

there were 3 mech strategy games
Mission cyberstorm(not sure thats the real name): Turn based mech fighting game based in the earthsiege universe. That was the only earthsiege game I liked. When they added opportunity shots in a patch, then I liked it even more. That means that you could get free shots on enemies if you have not moved a mech.

Mechcommander 1 and 2- real time mech strategy.
You have to lead a lance of mechs on missions from the 3rd person view.
Can salvage enemy mechs and use them in the field.
When the battle is over can fuss with or sell the salvaged mechs, fuss with
the pilot's certifications.

There has been a bunch of mech games for the consoles.
Armored core, Chromehounds, etc.

Have not seen any more mech games for the pc.
Hope they don't screw up Hellgate:London.

Earthsiege bit, I hated the vague mission briefings, it was easy to fail a mission
because you just did not have enough info to finish the mission.

Shattered steel was pretty good, would be still playing it now but it did not age gracefully.
I could put up with the lame graphics but it does not run on a modern machine.

Yeah, I forgot that ED-209 was not piloted by a person in Robocop. I was not meaning robocop himself though. I have every game you mentioned! haha!

sevenofeleven In reply to TDBK [2007-05-17 00:22:43 +0000 UTC]

Ed 209 was just a criminal's brain in a mech.

You have shattered steel and Cyberstrike?
If I could have got the games to install and run properly, I would have finished them.

Used to play Cyberstrike for hours. The hardest missions were the main base assaults at the end of a sector. The Cybrids would send the little suicide bots and those suckers packed quite a punch but if you had mechs on overwatch, they would get an opportunity shot at the suicide bots and get them before they got close. At the end of a mission, you would get bucks to spend on mechs, upgrades and training.

Shattered steel was the first or an early shooter from Bioware, yeah rpg king Bioware.
Remember one mission in which you had to defend a base, the enemy would teleport units from 4 teleporters spread out all over the map. Had to balance taking out enemy units causing damage with getting to the teleporters. The base could only take so much damage. It was one of the games in which you were not playing as a "lone wolf". Well, some missions you had backup. Remember the early missions, the briefing AI eventually defected to the enemy and you got another AI to do the briefings.

Both games were good times.

Yeah man. I did not have Bio-Strike though. It was a buddy of mine that had that one. I got it mixed up! I do have Shattered Steel and I liked it because it was like Mechwarrior 2 somewhat. I "think" it was you who first recommended total annihilation to me a 'couple of years ago? You and about 12 other people!! I got it a while back and that is a great game. I guess you can call it a mech game. It was hard to get it running right on XP but it does work!! :As for Shattered Steel.. I have not been able to get that to work after win98..

Check out Supreme commander, its like the son of TA.
Review on my page

I knew I was hooked when I was playing the demo over and over.

Still playing Ta, every time I get close to finishing, I have to redo/update my computer and have to start over. One of the best things about TA is being close to being wiped off the map and coming back and counterstriking. When I finish TA, I can move on to the expansion whatever its named.

Yeah! I have played the SC demo. It's pretty cool! Too bad I just do not have time for games anymore. Every once in a while I'll play some old school Doom. That is about it now 'a days.

Somebody took Doom3 and made a mod turning it into oldschool Doom.
Basically they made doom levels and sped up the movement speed.
The game plays so much faster in the doom mod than in the regular game.

Stuck on my laptop while my other pc gets fixed (hopefully).
Better than nothing but how much diablo 2 can you play?
Maybe I can install Starcraft on the laptop.

I heard about the doom remake. Maybe I'll check that out in the near future. Do you have a link? I'm too lazy to look for it right now. I have not slept in over 2 days and it's getting weird on the net! lol!!

You might find it at gamespot, do a search for doom3.
I got the mod but its on the other machine.

I will see about getting you a link tomorrow.
There is a mod that adds lights to weapons.

Whats up with Id and weapon lights?
Even in Quake 4, not all the guns had lights and you do go to
some pretty dark places.
