You've never seen Samurai Jack?? Oh man, you have been missing out. It's probably one of the most influential and original cartoons of the last twenty years.

He's the antagonist, but he's far more complex than just 'being evil'. He's been through a lot at the hands of humanity and divine forces, which I think pushed him a lot to become what he is. Occasionally he shows that he isn't really all bad, whether he means to or not. Aku's hard to describe as a character, honestly! 
To be fair, he could work very well as a PPG villain with whom the girls have a mildly acceptful relationship with, like Mojo. He's very, very similar in personality and interests to Blossom, and to a lesser extent Bubbles and Buttercup, so getting along with them isn't entirely unlikely.
...Although this comic is based on an Alternate Universe, a kind of prequel to Fusion Fall, based on old CN commercials >>
