Yes, I've been listening to Disturbed since I was ten, over a decade ago ;u; Every time they come out with an album they outdo themselves. I can't pick a favorite out of their entire discography, but Vengeful One is definitely my favorite from Immortalized. <3

HA well this album literally just came out a few weeks ago so it hasn't been that long. I was surprised too! There's a bit of a difference though, because David Draiman got into drugs again and fucked his voice to shit, so in some places you can hear him straining or getting autotuned a little...but the lyrical/musical aspect just improves every album so that's good c:

Oh, I had no idea. Hope he kicks that shit or if he already has, stays off it. TBH I didn't really notice anything wrong with his voice but maybe I wasn't listening close enough. Though I suppose "fire it up" should have clued me in. I heard David's voice has actually never been in good shape, like he has some sort of throat condition or something and he has to put a lot of effort into keeping his voice from going bad. Though I don't know if that's true.

He's apparently had stomach problems and got really bad acid reflux (like that shit literally burned his throat) and then a capillary bursted in his vocal chord lmao. I remember reading an interview where he said drugs/alcohol only made it worse, but I guess he couldn't kick the habit and voila that's what happens. 

You can hear a distinct difference in the first two albums where he sings a lot more instead of doing the growly/screaming thing...and now it seems like sometimes even that's difficult. ;_;

I usually pay the most attention to vocals and lyrics...sorta fine-tuned myself to notice straining that way I guess. That and I've listened to them for over ten years So right away I was like OMG...

Yeah, drug addiction is awful like that. Even if you know perfectly well what it's doing to you and that going back to it will only lead to problems you're still not guaranteed to succeed in kicking them. Luckily I'm not speaking from experience.

Yeah, I always like Disturbed because they don't do a lot of screaming.  I can handle some or even quite a bit of screaming but when it's all they do it's just grating. That's why I'm sort of undecided on Slipknot because when I hear the songs when the singer actually sings it sounds good but when he's just screaming the generic "everything sucks and I hate it" crap I stop listening very quickly. 

For me the vocals are just another instrument, the lyrics could be complete nonsense and so long as the singer makes it SOUND like it has some deep, powerful meaning I'll eat it up. I guess I'm rather simple like that so it makes sense I wouldn't notice a change cause I just kind of sit back and listen to the way the lyrics compliment the instruments rather then the lyrics themselves. Which I guess isn't that great for analysis but that's just how I enjoy it.
