Description
The story of Rapunzel always intrigued me in that there is a simplicity to it that would be fun to make more complicated. A maiden locked in a tower who had hair long enough she was able to use to let others in yet at any time she could have cut it and used it as her own escape.I think it can serve to remind us that we can place ourselves in towers unknowingly. And that we have the power to do something about it once we realize it. We don't have to wait for some outside force to make the first step. (can you tell I was inspired by the Princeless?? Love it!)

This is gorgeous! AndΒ your interpretation is great! I've never thought of it that way. And I've never really read the full original tale, only pieces here and there. But this painting really carries a message, it's simple (I mean it in a good way, as striking at the first sight

That is a fantastic concept. The artwork is powerful, too...as subtle as it is (meaning it's not super bright that it attacks your eyes screaming LOOK AT ME!). Very nice!

Your thoughts on the story are very interesting. Even though it is a very obvious option, it had never occurred to me that the girl could actually escape very easily. Maybe, the assumption that a princess can't/won't save herself in a classic fairytale could be partly blamed... however possible it might actually be! The illustration is beautiful but also gives me a bit of a sad, dark feeling. To me, it is the perfect atmosphere to go with the reflection on the princess being shut inside herself, and her thinking that she can't get out by her own means, rather than inside of the tower.
