the depicted temple was constructed in 300 BG, and originally founded on Crescent Island as a temple and religious site for the Fire Sages, the Fire Nation's religious authority, on the outermost island of the Fire Nation. in 65 BG, the temple was converted into a refuge for the current Avatar at the time, Avatar Roku.
In 55 BG, Avatar Roku eventually mastered the Avatar State. However, during the process, he partially destroyed the temple and was later forced to rebuild it. During the reconstruction, he carved a series of secret passages beneath the structure.
