Have you ever attended San Diego Comic-Con?
- Yea! I attended a few years back as an exhibitor and did some drawing in the artist alley for the coloring studio Hi-Fi Color to help promote some books for DC Comics we were working on!
Does this sound like the type of event you’d be interested in participating in?
-Absolutely! I already do something along the lines by giving talks and paring students together at the Savannah College of Art and Design Sequential Art seniors to help them get prepared for working post graduating! Ive also worked on a few comics myself with them and other alumni!
Are you an artist looking to collaborate with a writer to create a graphic story, or vice versa?
Yes! As much as I love writing and drawing comics, I have more stories than I do have time so I'd love to get in touch with artist to collaborate to make something with! Plus meeting new writers opens the door to work on projects that I might not have had the chance or even the thought to work on.
Are you currently creating a comic? If so, what type of comic are you creating?
Right now I'm working with Kurtis Wiebe of Rat Queens on an announced comic for Oni Press! On my off time I prepare my next graphic novel that I want work on after the book I'm currently working on is wrapped up.

A: Of course!
- Are you an artist looking to collaborate with a writer to create a graphic story, or vice versa?
A: Actually no, but when the time and more experience comes, I will, (maybe in a year, I have to practice a lot).
- Are you currently creating a comic? If so, what type of comic are you creating?
A: Well I'm creating a story that could fit good in comic format; this is a romantic, magic and adventure story type.

- Have you ever attended San Diego Comic-Con?
No, I live in Europe. ^^'
- Does this sound like the type of event you’d be interested in participating in?
Why, yes! I'd be a little nervous though. Meeting so many new people in such a short time could be really tiring.
- Are you an artist looking to collaborate with a writer to create a graphic story, or vice versa?
Kind of? I have ideas and I want to do world building but at the same time, I'm not really good at implementing a story in which it could take place and use my characters. I wouldn't really know how to write characters in the context of a story etc.
- Are you currently creating a comic? If so, what type of comic are you creating?
Right now I'm trying to stick to a personal slice of life/comedy webtoon to get used to making comics.
But in the future, I really want to make a comic or an illustrated story. It will most likely include creatures or hybrids and I feel strongly about having meaning in my stories too. ^^

Have you ever attended San Diego Comic-Con?
No, i haven't, its too far away from my current location, maybe some time later in the future :3
Does this sound like the type of event you’d be interested in participating in?
Im always looking forward to comic-con, whether to be a customer or artist myself, for me its a good way to know and meet peoples, especially new ones. And also for doing some "research" :3
Are you an artist looking to collaborate with a writer to create a graphic story, or vice versa?
Mhmm, im mainly an artist, but in the meantime, in my super rare spare time i also make a stories for my OC even though its still far far away from being complete >,<
but if its come to work as a professional artist, i'll always looking forward to it, as what im doing now :3
Are you currently creating a comic? If so, what type of comic are you creating?
Yes but not a comic to be exact, mainly light novel and 4-koma, even though i only doing it in my spare time. Can't handle normal comic-style, since i also working for commissions, so something with less pic is much more time-affordable for me right now :3

Not really creating one at the moment, just planning a debut comic. Only about seven chapters long. Gonna move on to a passion project if it receives enough feedback from enough people. If not, I'll rinse and repeat until I get enough public traction.

Because I work alone, although I can imagine working with stunt artist, I offered it to a person (we were friends),
it was not accepted. So I think that not everyone wants so much.
I would be thrilled if you convert something of me into a comic, filming - I'm open.
If it were up to me, many wonderful comics / mangas and books should be filmed!

- Have you ever attended San Diego Comic-Con?
No, and I can't imagine myself ever doing so without extreme pressure from a marketing team behind a published thing of mine that could exist in the future.
- Does this sound like the type of event you’d be interested in participating in?
Absolutely not. It sounds grizzly, the worst way possible to find a partnership for a long term collaboration. I would go out of my way to avoid attending such an event. I imagine it would be 80% writers hoping for "an artist who will get paid in a % of the profit!!!!" and 15% lowballers. It would be an exhausting waste of my time. I say that as someone in a long term collaboration with someone where no profit exists. I met her organically via our shared interests online and we decided to start co-writing because of that. There certainly were no sparks in five minutes which would have told me "you will spend the next decade and a half writing with this person" and yet, on it goes.
- Are you an artist looking to collaborate with a writer to create a graphic story, or vice versa?
I am an artist, I have collaborated with writers for graphic stories of their own writing twice and collaborated with another writer for a long term writing project, as well as provided finishing touches like putting text or shading on partly finished comic art for larger team projects. I am available for hire to create fantasy maps for novels, games and comics.
- Are you currently creating a comic? If so, what type of comic are you creating?
Saying the words "currently" is a bit of a stretch, but it's a speculative fiction graphic novel called Stargazer's Gate , it's a kinda messed up family fantasy where one of the siblings ends up activating a gate and vanishing, causing most of her family to think she's dead, with the exception of one sibling who's convinced she's alive on the other side and there must be a way to activate the defunct transportation system. It alternates between Atrina's experience on the other side of the gate and Lea's experience at home trying to figure out the connection. It's been on hiatus for a bit because I had some trouble writing myself through the next part.
(spoiler) Lea is trans and I hit the point in the story where he was supposed to connect that he is angry because he doesn't feel like he belongs in his body, not just because his sister is gone. So because of that I can see myself collaborating with a trans-man writer to properly finish the comic with respect to my main character starting presenting as female due to society pressure and realizing through his adventure trying to rescue his sister that it's okay for him to present as he wants. So I sorta froze up because the next chapter was supposed to be Lea and Dad talking and Lea coming out of that feeling finally okay to get rid of the dress and present like a man. Prior to that I also have the flop Between Places where I tried to do a painty dream-like comic about someone who gets stuck in her dreamworld and starts manifesting bits of that as well as overlapping with the memories of a dead woman which co-exist in the dreamworld she's stuck inside of. I'm now reusing the parts of it I liked as part of the current plot I'm writing with my co-writer, so it's not going to waste. It was fundamental in me developing digital art skills, so there's that at least.

Not really my business, but it's hard not to feel like your estimation in the second answer is completely pulled from the one experience where you didn't plan things out/ask to discus things regarding the project. I understand it's a pretty serious experience, but it's still a very broad generalization based on one person. I'm not gonna make serious assumptions since I don't even know you in the slightest, but if there's no major benefit to you, why not ask for a bit of compensation considering all the work you've done? Ignoring the moral circumstances, why not just leave outright if it's a big enough deal to vent about it?
Furhtermore, I'm getting a non-concrete vibe that you may have low self esteem. That's just a face value guess though. If you need therapy, you're the only one who can seek that out.
Forgive me if I'm talking out of my ass, it just hurts a little when it looks like someone has been beaten down by life's roll of the dice.

I am the problem with my comic given as I am 100% of the creative force (I write, draw, put the bubbles on, and made my website). I think maybe you've misassigned one of those flops to being my long-term creative project with a co-writer? Let me clarify that the work I do with her is just writing. We have a good time together, that woman has bought me food more times than I can count anyway, so it's worth a lil bit of time spent making bonus features for our work, if there is ever compensation it will because we make money with it. There is an enormous benefit to me in maintaining this creative collaboration and I will likely be doing some form of art with her until I die.
Yes, my self-esteem has a notorious history of issues, though it's actually doing well enough right now compared to its past. Am a little taken aback that you, a stranger, are being all Clippy like "hey, looks like you have mental health issues, have you considered therapy?" Uh yeah, in fact... as an adult with mental health issues I do know about therapists... maybe a better opener you might try, "Hey, sounds like you're having a tough time with (subject), wanna talk about it?"
I am on an anti-depressant, and have been stable for multiple whole months, enough so that I would even consider my depression perhaps in remission, though I might "rant about it" (I don't think having multiple paragraphs to write = rant, it just means I was stimulated to write based on the prompt, not all writing at length is a rant). Knowing what I know now about recovering from depression, I don't think I would've benefited from a therapist. It would've kept me in a space where I was looking to an authority to tell me how to think. This recovery must be born of hard work done within myself in the quiet of my own mind and the only thing that's given me sufficient space to recover has been getting out of the work force, off of social media, and into the silence. By learning the tools to regrow on my own, I gained a level of sovereignty over myself that I would not have found if a skilled professional had assisted me. I am better due to the brutally hard task of weeding out each and every rabbit trail thought I have which trapped me in negativity. I'm not perfect now but I am better. That was my decision and I'm content to live with its consequences. Maybe in another multiverse slice or reincarnation or alternate reality I did it different, but this one, this is the one where I said, "Nope, I'm gonna do it my way OR NO WAY AT ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL." /rock solo derailment
I'm generalizing based on my interactions with many people who've wanted to do creative collaborations who I have decided to not do creative collaborations with, and my observations based on people attempting to do creative partnerships from the inside of a webcomic collective. I've seen a lot of writers with wants even if I haven't interacted with them personally. I wouldn't speed date for love and I really wouldn't speed date for a creative collaboration, because I imagine it's those people this event would attract.
Yes, I might one day just leave the comics scene entirely. I just haven't throughly given up on it yet since it was one of my OG passions. Maybe this is my sign I should just let all the comic stuff go. I dunno. I have a history of ghosting, I'm not sure I have it in me to say, "this unfinished thing will never be completed" and close the door and let it go. I still have an illusion that maybe, maaaaaaaybe I'll pick it back up and bring it to the lite ending I'd planned if I lost steam. But eh, I keep getting hired for piecework and life just keeps happening so fast on me I can barely keep up with the art I get hired to do! Which is awesome and definitely what I was aiming for when I set up. The price of success means ones personal projects fall to the wayside.
Take care.

Just a few notes before I take off.
1: I'm no good at being a therapist myself. I suggested a therapist because I thought you would be directed toward someone who was indeed more qualified to talk to you, as you suggested that I do instead. It seems you have your life pulled together though, so I'm glad.
2: I didn't mean to make implications on your relationship with your friend. The way you worded your generalization alongside your friend sort of made an entirely different context. The context of your previous comment was what also made me think you were venting.
I'm not gonna beg for you to stay in the comic scene. Like you said, being happy is a personal journey, and I'll be more comfortable if you find a more fitting passion for you, rather than staying with something you no longer enjoy.

2: Sounds really cool, but I probably can't afford it.
3: Honestly if I can get paid to work professionally on a comic. That would be the dream job for me. I love creating stories and work well with bouncing ideas off people.
4: Yeah i have a web comic called LOTM. It's a drama about wild dogs developing a society and the trials and tribulations that come with responsibilities, loss, and opposition. But mostly is about individual dogs dealing with change and the consequences from that change.

4. Are you currently creating a comic? If so, what type of comic are you creating?

1- I was in a german comic-con, dont remember the city, but took a lot of cards back with me.
2- I have some psychological issues which would make a face-to-face meeting difficult, but I am able to do something over text or discord (Rokonuxa#6676)
3- I am mostly a writer, I have not really got the spacing ability for panels, and I am struggling with humanoids. I can also make 3d models and some rigging. I could provide backgrounds and some character positioning through this.
If anyone would be Interested in bringing something post apocalyptic, Sci-Fi, dark fantasy and more to paper, I would gladly work with an illustrator, to brainstorm.
4- I am often writing stories and ideas, but I lack the full skillset needed to make it graphic. I do sometimes make models of environments and situations I find interesting.

Mmm... Actualmente no estoy interesado en viajar o ir a ningún lado.
Tengo en mente una historia que quisiera hacer, aunque no se si lo termine haciendo. Bueno, solo el tiempo lo dirá

Why not interact on DeviantArt in some appropriate way? San Diego is a long way from much of the USA...
Anyway; If you like, I have 1 Story and 1 "Serial" to check out on my page now, with more available and coming soon. Check it out.
Regards,
R.K.
p.s. You'll just have excuse the somewhat archaic format for now...

Firstly, no, I haven't gone to the convention--heck, not even San Diego as a whole!
Secondly, yeap, I'd love to learn something about drawing.
Thirdly, I think that question needs a blank answer. I'm undecided.
Lastly, no.
