Just a quick sketch that I ended up colouring. No time to do a good job, hence the sloppyness.One of the best things about TLM:AB is these two's relationship. Even if we barely get to see it, it's nice to know that Triton was once caring and ... well, a soft-shell
The music-box is there for context purposes, didn't elaborate too much on that either >_>
Jeez I haven't drawn in ages.
This looks scrappy. I might scrap it.
And because I can predict people thinking this is Ariel: this is King Triton and his wife Queen Athena, Ariel's mother.

i loved Disney choice of how closely Ariel looked like her mother (or how closely Athena looked like Ariel)Β because it kinda explained why he was so harsh to her and cold, it must have hurt him a lot to see Ariel almost turning into his beloved wife. aaaany way love this pic,

i come from a family of red heads and i turned out with medium brown with red highlights and my brother just brown only one of my many cousins actually got the bright red hair the rest blond and browns with one other with my red highlights red is a recessive gene with blonde being the only lowest. sooooo if you put genetics into play it makes perfect sense that two red heads would only have one or two red heads because they are caring much more dominate genes as well as the recessive red. so stick with me here if moms genes are blonde1 red1 and brown2 thats 4 total and she shows red but is still caring three other colors and dad is red1 blond1 and black2 and showing red then each child actually had and even chance for any hair color. and there's your small biology lesson for the day hee hee

For along time I wondered when ariel got her looks from because her sisters wore the same color top and fins. They I saw this movie I found out she got her looks from her mother.

I think it kind of made sense that tey made Athena look like Ariel... that way, not only is she the youngest(and favorite), but she holds a special place in Triton's heart, because she reminds her of Athena.
The idea or the design is pretty much the same, but I actually think they werent just lazy.
Athena's fins are blueish, and her hair color is much more realistic than Ariel's...
Also her face is kind of longer, so though they look alike, they are not the same.
I love this drawing, though being honest, she does look like Ariel:/
(btw, Athena's eyes are green)
