Description Expressive, pensive, and lyrical, a nocturne can be either an instrumental serenade, or a painting of a night scene.

After the sun goes down humans leave public places to retire to the safety and comfort of their homes. Daytime industrial noise disappears and is replaced by a subtler symphony of sounds, both real and imagined – stimulated by the aural stillness and the visual hum of artificial light.

The individual images in this series function as musical themes, each embodying a slightly different rhythm and resonance. Some themes evoke memories of sounds present during the day, such as the dusty chime of a service bell, or the shuffling of quarters in a coin slot, while others embrace the quieter more sinister voice of unnatural man made light. Elements from the individual images connect and flow into the surrounding images, tying them together in a larger orchestration of mechanics and light.

wow, black = much better... I really love that top right shot how the roof is glowing with that eery green (I am colorblind so pay no attention to how I describe colors)... Anyways very nice work ... this place has a real uncomfortable mood to it that I think you've captured wonderfully... thanks again

yea, good call on the black...
"eerie green" is a pretty accurate description for someone with color bindness

oh and if you ever have the thought "wow, I'd really like to develop a website that is color blind safe, and allow colorblind users to select css sheets that are comfy for them" here's a site that helps with that [link] I thought it was pretty cool that someone has gone through the pain of doin that... kinda funny

seriously? I have deutanopia which usually messes with the way i view green's compared to other people... This was always a good excuse for girlfriends in highschool to pick out my outfits

Really cool series here, I love the light...although is it really long exposure?

longer than 1/250th of a second ~~~~~~~

all of them are at least 5 sec shots on 800 speed film, some are as long as 30 secs .... they are also long exposures during printing ... its the only way to get the surreal saturation i did (and as i discussed in the thread on the wip of this piece, extended exposure = reciprocity failure in color film)

i guess they're not long exposures like 5 minutes of lights on the freeway or star trails
but anything on "B" is long enough for me

thanks for the fave btw
