Description We were falling and there was no where to go or a way out.  As the plane was descending at high speed, the thought that flashed in my mind was that this sucked.  The cabin was shaking and I turned to look at my brother.  All I could see was his mouth open and with panic in his eyes, but no sound.  Not a scream or the engine squealing or the gush of atmosphere coming through the gaping hole.  The thunderous pounding of my heart was echoing in my ears.  The lights flickering like strobes at a bad disco.  I would blink but I swore that I was witnessing this event move at the pace of running molasses.  I think my brother was shaking me, but I couldn’t focus.  My heart still pounding in my ears.  Blink.

Darkness.  What just happened?  Will I be waking up now?  Was this only a dream?  I think I stepped into a meat locker.  So cold.  Why is it so fucking cold?  Breathe.  Breathe goddamit!  Gulp.  Oh my god, we’re in water!  My mouth flooded and I could taste the salt.  So salty like I over seasoned my drink.  My lungs began to burn.  The sound came rushing back to me and I now could hear the roar of the water around me.  So many screaming voices followed by gurgles and gasps.  I labored to take one last breath as the water began to rise in the cabin.  I felt someone or something land on my head and just push me down into the frigid fluid.  I began to struggle trying to move whatever was holding me down.  I realized that someone was pushing me down trying to stay as far up towards the ceiling of the cabin.  My heart still beating a hundred miles per minute.  Time was running out and I couldn’t move fast enough.  My muscles were tightening up and I was having a difficult time moving in the water.  Another gulp of salt water and my lungs were filling up.

Everything was slowing again.  The burn of the cold salt water began to be easier on my eyes.  As I glared in the water, it began to get darker.  The sounds around me became muffled and I no longer heard screaming.  Muddled sounds of someone or some people rustling in the deep waters.  My body jerked once signaling suffocation.  My mind slowing to a single thought: I'm dying, I'm dying.  My body jerked again.  The person who was holding me down stopped.  I was completely submerged and no more air to breathe.  My heart.  I could hear it pounding, very slow.  One beat.  Boom.  Another beat.  Boom.  Boom.

Thanks for being the first to comment. I'll admit I was hesitant to submit it, but I thought it would be okay to share it after much thought. I'll make sure I don't take any plane trips over water for a while.
