Description I am sooooo proud of this! It doesn't look as good in the pictures as it does in real life but can vouch for me where I say it's cool! I started beading this hummingbird about 2 years ago but I kept stopping because I got frustrated (my needle would break or I would run out of thread, that sort of thing). But I finally restarted it again on thursday night and I finished it late last night and it's really cool! I turned it into a necklace so it's fun to wear. In terms of hours I think it took me about.... 48 hours and it was done completely with a needle, thread, and beads. Oh and a bit of stuffing for the body but not much. Next beading project I'm going to do is either a spider, another dragonfly (which I'll turn into a hair clip) or I'll design a penguin figure.... not too sure though which to do, lol.

In conclusion, Beading animals and small creatures is fun!

I can't believe you did that with just thread! I use wire in all my creations.

technologicallyinept In reply to rodentdrem [2009-01-13 13:04:20 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I find wire is definitely easier to use, but then I think for long pieces of work it gets too difficult

We are the designers of the beaded birds (The Hummingbird being on of our top sellers). There are also several other types of birds available on our website. (www.uniquebeadedjewelry.com)

Our designer is known best for her 3-D beadwork.

We sell downloadable e-patterns, as well as patterns we will send you in the mail. You can also purchase the kits to make as many of these as you want. The kits come with everything you need to complete one bird. (You just need scissors).

Looks like you did a great job on it! The best of luck on your new beading adventures.

Pretentiouslydevious [2007-10-31 22:49:34 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome for the fave, your beading skills are stunning! What stitch did you use? Brick? Peyote? Artistically Judged Yet Completely Random (one of my favorites)?
Again, just lovely.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

technologicallyinept In reply to Pretentiouslydevious [2007-12-12 11:45:45 +0000 UTC]

Thankyou. I basically didn't use too much fancy stitching, Just basically did a thread through and then a back thread through the previous rows and beads to join it all together..... that's the best I can describe it

I don't get why I didn't notice this before.

Maybe because I don't browse DA as often as I ought.
This is lovely, where'd you learn how to do that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

technologicallyinept In reply to Crescendoed [2007-02-26 12:37:26 +0000 UTC]

Just luck of the draw I think ^^

I learnt it from a beading store. They have all these different kits and such you can try. So of course, I choose the hardest But it's really rewarding because now I know all the techniques to make my own designs. I just keep putting off my beading because I run out of sunlight (gosh, I sound like some sort of vampire hunter )

Thankyou very much ^^ I wasn't too keen on the actual photography because I was impatient with it (couldn't be bothered going to somewhere overly nice ) But thanks!
