Oof, well, that program is actually very good to be free. It's just that, I think you need to know the techniques. I heard from this great robot-drawer-dude that brushes aren't there for you to become great at once, but to make it a bit easier. But yeah, I get your pain ;;

Sai seems toΒ have better tools for brushes, and drawing curved lines,Β but I don't do drawing so professionallyΒ that I would give out the money for it. Tomorrow, I'll probably upload something (not now, because it'll be a BD gift, so there's no way I'll show it to you now, hehe), then you'll see my problems there...

Yeah, but Sai isn't free, now is it? Gimp is, though, pretty good even at what you say isn't the best. You should probably check it a bit more out at what's available to do with the brushed there. For example try finding minimun-size or something on the brush you're using for lineart and see what that can do to help you. :>
