Description
Countess Elizabeth Bathory de Esced (1585 - 1614), a Hungarian noblewoman, was alleged to have tortured and killed hundreds of young women with the help of her servants. Testimonies regarding this prolific 15th century villainess became folklore with the story warping to say that she bathed in the blood of her victims to maintain her youth, though there is no evidence that this was the case. However, her reputation as one of history's most famous vampires persists today.
