Description War of Nuverta : Chapter 10 : To The Front Lines!
By: Teebs13
[Two months later] Frederick and his parents came into the ravaged city of Verdun. Where people ran around preparing their rations for the day as the war dragged on. They had to stop Morvalia from reversing history to their favor. Eran and Carston were alongside them as they marched through the grim city. "The horrors of war reflect the people effected... " ,Aldon frowned as he starred into the city streets as warriors set up defenses around the city. Alfas, Tarok, and Ferris commanded a side squadron from the northeastern countries. That is when the promised troops from Isandar approached from Mora. "Sir Aldon, it is quite a pleasure to meet your acquaintance this evening." ,the Isandarian general said, "My name is Arthur, heir to the Ukatarian throne and leader of the United Isandar Army." Aldon smiled at the huge force and answered, "Welcome to our war party Arthur. We march tomorrow once the sun rises." Arthur nodded his head as he headed for his pitched tent across the field.
The armies woke that morning to witness the first offensive campaign against the Morvalan Empire. IT was a long journey to Caltar, the Olarkan capital. The city was extremely vulnerable due to its position in the Northal Plain. The siege would just be cutting off their supply lines to the west . Upon due time they had entered the Northal Plain. The other side of the field was littered with enemy regiments that rose up like a pillar of flame. "Great, at least they are human this time!" ,Eran laughed. Carston nodded his head in agreement as the skirmish began.
The enemy was outnumbered as they cluttered  on the other side of the Crosan River. The Isandar regiments were to approach from the North and flank them while Frederick's army distracted the main force. Aldon would ride from the south with his cataphracts (armored horsemen) as Carston's mages supported and Eran's artillery provided disorder in the enemy ranks. The enemy commanded by Gerald Rolan. He was a fine general that was known for his military mind. He was also the heir of the Rilia Union. Capturing or killing the general would be a severe blow to the Morvalians. The battle began as artillery from both sides began to fire. The two columns began to home in on the large enemy stronghold on the river as Fredericks troops began to prepare to cross the river. Magic flung across the shores as mages dueled for superiority. That is when the two columns were visible to the enemy. They were then trapped and flanked. Fredericks troops began to cross the river with outstanding performance. Aldon's cataphracts rammed the enemy flank as the Isandar regiment followed. Fredericks troops were now permitted to land along the river and destroy the artillery. The battle seemed to be won, though suddenly the enemy lines restructured as they charged toward their lines. They were trying to regain control of the costal artillery as most of the army moved in a retreating position. Gerald was heard shouting orders as their escape route became smaller. Soon the bulk of the enemy army was dead as soldiers went down right and left. Shattered steel littered the ground as armor was pierced.
It was not long before the white flag was shown high above the  enemy lines. Gerald himself had raised the flag to protect his remaining soldiers from harm. "Quite an impressive strategy you had Aldon. " ,Gerald inquired. "The plan was not my own but of my advisors and council Gerald. You did all you could." ,Aldon responded. "This was is so pointless is it not Aldon?" ,Gerald asked. "Here I am fighting for a cause I do not even believe in." "Then that is why you surrendered so early then. You still have a bulk of five thousand men compared to our four thousand." ,Aldon frowned. "These soldiers do not believe in the Morvalian cause anymore then I do Aldon. Please spare them the atrocities of this damnable war." ,Gerald almost crying from frustration as he finished his sentence. Aldon and his war party had a clear way to Caltar as the prisoners went to Verdun. Some defected to Allied ranks as well as Gerald. "You know they will consider you a traitor Gerald." ,Frederick warned. "They do not believe in this cause and will understand my motives." ,Gerald replied with a confident tone to his voice. Frederick smiled as everyone in the war tent departed for a night's rest. Aldon entered and said, "Hopefully, if you prove yourself to your people."
