Description a photo taken during the summer of 2004 in the alentejo (south of portugal) - its an untouched oasis of portugal and somewhere where the tranquility and sun really shines.

Made sepia as it emphasised the golden brown aspect of it, originally in colour which also works well, I just wanted to focus on the actual meaning in the photo.

the tones here are fantastic, the massive flare works really well too, the sepia makes it feel like a really old place...looks really peaceful

Peaceful is the right word.. It is probably the most relaxing place I've ever been to.. The south of Portugal is a chilled out place to get away from everything.

beautiful! I think sepia works so well in nature photos because it really emphasizes texture. that said, the textures going on in this photo are wonderful-- the leaves of the tree, the grass, the barbed wire and that old, cracking building (church?).

thank you the building is just an old farmhouse - but its just the essence of what southern interior portugal is.

do you live in Portugal? It's such a gorgeous country! I'm half portuguese...my family is from the azure islands actually... someday I want to visit.

yeah i live there although at the moment i study in Canterbury, Kent, Uk.. but my home is portugal.. such an awesome place.

Yeah it works really well. The tree is excellent... just how the light is trying to burst through inbetween every branch. And I don't know what it is... but I'm so drawn to the barbed wire in that picture. Just the whole natural feel with the even wooden gate and what looks like a really old country house... and then you got the wire in it. Kinda reminds me of Nazi Germany back in the day... actually, The Great Escape film where Steve McQueen is riding the motorcycle through the fields, totally reminds me of that. It works really well. Really good job tommy.
