Dr. Robotnik is my favorite bad guy. I actually kind of like how Jim Carrey plays him in the new movie trailer...I know that's unpopular of an opinion.

Yeah, cause honestly I can't stand the way he looks and acts. I don't know WHY they brought him back for this movie. His darker works recently I think are good. He reminds me of Mike Myers in which you start to realize his schtick isn't funny anymore. Once you get past the crude humor there isn't anything there. In my opinion his BEST movie was The Truman Show where he showed he had some amazing acting chops besides making annoying noises, funny faces and having random outbursts. Not my type of humor. I grew out of that after I turned 18 tbh. Seeing him basically doing that old schtick for Eggman pisses me off because Eggman isn't anything like that. SURE he's over the top, but it's not Eggman. It's Jim Carrey playing "Jim Carrey as Eggman" tbh. Reminds me of how they roped Neil Patrick Harris for the Smurfs crap. Like why is he there?
And honestly if they took the TIME, EFFORT and actually cared about this movie they COULD have got Jack Black to be Eggman. OR if they wanted to go the actual making a MOVIE route damn James Spader who's character Raymond Reddington is like a more realistic Eggman AND just ADD over the top. There. There are two better people to be Eggman in my personal opinion. If we want to add people who have passed on to the mix Robbin Williams could have been an excellent Eggman because of how MANY different characters he can play. He could have BECOME Eggman. That's the issue. I don't feel like Carrey BECOMES Eggman. He did a better job at that when he was the Grinch. Another actor who could have fit the bill is Christopher Lloyd, but perhaps a younger closer to Doc Brown Lloyd for sure. I mean he already has the mad scientist schtick down with Doc.
In other words. The movie SHOULD have been animated(Maybe keep Carrey as the VOICE, but then again Pollock is BETTER). I mean I may greatly DISLIKE Illumination, but at LEAST they have the cahones to keep the Mario Bros animated. They actually LEARNED from the mistakes of the live action version basically in DO NOT MAKE THEM LIVE ACTION. Not everything needs to be brought to the "real world" and do BETTER with the stylization of animation.
Sorry, this got long. Just venting frustrations with this "live action" trend swallowing up the movie making industry. Feels more like a conveyer belt than an entertainment maker to me. Though I have heard Aladdin is OKAY.

Oh yeah, Doc would have been a good Robotnik!
I think it would have been better animated, too...I'm disappointed in the constant rehashing of cartoons as live action. How hard is it to come up with new ideas? Does nobody have anything new anymore?
