Hello there.

I absolutely hate making PSAs like this, but because this issue has been recurring, I feel I must address it.

Please stop plagiarising or copying my style.

Especially if I have explicitly asked you to cease doing so before.

I realise that everyone references something in their creative process, but there is a line between "referencing" and outright "copying".
We all reference things, but then it is up to us as artists to meld the idea and make it our own- not continuously copying and pasting someone else' signature.

How can you tell the difference between referencing and copying? The tell-tale sign is when one copies something without understanding the structure/concept of whatever it is they are mimicking.

Another indicator is when their style changes at roughly a week or so after yours does. I’ve changed how I draw things periodically, and it seems this person decides to do so as well. I guess I find it a little funny because there are changes I've made in my own work that are poor, and this person has also decided to copy my "mistakes."

I feel that each artist should find their own style, and that each individual goes through a lot of effort to get to where they are. I cannot tell you how hard I work to better my craft- I dedicate countless hours, effort, and energy into doing what I do. And I most certainly am not alone in this. I kindly ask that people respect the artists' efforts and please, at the very least ask their consent before deliberately copying, or stop if they ask you to do so. Common courtesy is to credit the person if it’s a direct copy- this person has not even done that.

I do not like being accusatory or hostile, but this person has chosen to continue disrespecting my request even after I asked them to stop.

Nothing good comes out of copying someone's work: You anger the original artist, but when you go to draw again, you discover that "your style" has become but just an imitation of someone else...their identity and signature, if you will.

I hope people will be respectful of not only my work, but other artists as well.
