Oh wow. Did you coat it with a layer of varnish as a last step? Doesn't look like paper!

No varnish. Just cardstock.

el-wire, AKA glow-wire, Baby!
Course, I dunno if the required driver would fit inside it.. I think it would. I have some of the stuff on the way and I definitely plan on taking a serious look at your template when it arrives; I'll let you know if I think the el-wire will work.

Tektonten In reply to wylf [2011-05-10 19:46:48 +0000 UTC]

I am very interested to hear what you find out about the el-wire!

wylf In reply to Tektonten [2011-05-13 18:34:40 +0000 UTC]

It got here yesterday and I think it would actually be very feasible to light a paper-crafted disc with it!! It appears the batteries for the driver will need to be daisy-chained inside the disc and the wire channeled into the surface. It will definitely take a little engineering but thankfully I have a husband and two sons who are all into electronics and crafting. I'll let you know how it goes!!

Wow! Seeing as I have a non-paper version of it I can only imagine the difficulties of the papercraft variety!

Yes, gluing cardstock into compound curves requires some patience.

Ayoshen [2010-12-28 08:50:50 +0000 UTC]

NICE! Do want. What do those white characters say? (I can make out some numbers but...)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tektonten In reply to Ayoshen [2010-12-28 14:36:35 +0000 UTC]

The longer string of numbers is:
2246936 - 699
The shorter string has three different circular symbols.
This papercraft was based on an official disc image from Disney. I don't know if the numbers and symbols mean anything.
