el-wire, AKA glow-wire, Baby!
Course, I dunno if the required driver would fit inside it.. I think it would. I have some of the stuff on the way and I definitely plan on taking a serious look at your template when it arrives; I'll let you know if I think the el-wire will work.

Yes, gluing cardstock into compound curves requires some patience.

The longer string of numbers is:
2246936 - 699
The shorter string has three different circular symbols.
This papercraft was based on an official disc image from Disney. I don't know if the numbers and symbols mean anything.

oh. the identity disk from the movie (the ACTUAL PROP FROM THE SET) was auctioned off. it had been auctioned off even before the movie came out.
