I was allowed to fan theory here.
The “human world” is actually a simulated reality whose users voluntarily mind wipe to fully experience an idyllic life, for example a domestic life in the ancient past of the world. The represented logout function has fallen into disuse as the world’s inhabitants have chosen to mistake the simulation as reality. Virtual objects near the logout bespeak the world’s source code its people have chosen to forget.
The real world is nano-intelligent “spirit world” bordering on magic, where sentience can upload into countless forms, a world that can interact to suit one’s unbound desires. Of course not everyone is into this, and some have fled into various idealized past periods. Simulation users can enter this world, but eating something will force the rapid nanossembly of a true body.
